Evening All,

A nice sunny day and not too hot here. The bites had faded a bit this morning so I doused myself in Deet and went to beading at my friend's. A teenage boy was walking quickly.on the pavement on my left and was so engrossed in his headphones he stepped straight off the pavement at the junction as I turned left into it. He was lucky I had realised what was going to happen and slowed down. Not much point them putting a noise into electric cars if young folk then make themselves deaf with earphones. On the way downmy friend's garden I was so busy watching her cat on a garden seat I nearly trod on the dead vole 'present' she'd brought home! :-S She'd got an egg incubator in the garden room with Pekin? bantam eggs in and reckons they will be due to hatch when we go next week. I must remember to take my camera just in case! The squirrels, about 4 of them, were chasing each other round the lawn and under the shed and having a great time.

On the way home I called in The Works and got a book about wool felting that has useful tips in. My friend had got herself one the other day. I also got some cheap embroidery silk as we are doing embroidery at the craft class in a few weeks.

When I got home there was a letter for me with new beading workshops at the house with the cake!! I have booked all 3 for me and my friend is coming to 2 with me.

I hope your OH remembered t ask about the dryer part Gill, Oh isn't it scary when you think you could have set the house on fire! I nearly did it with a tea towel that flopped over near the cooker hob when it was on. It was lucky you noticed the smell.

Frank that was a strange dream to have! It sounds like the shower is holding up or you would have had an even quicker one! I don't think you told me what Biggles looks like. I imagine him being a terrier type and the colour of an Alsation. :-)

It's a great idea to make some things that the children can buy Mel.

If I'd stayed with my ex and he hadn't passed away since it would have been my Golden Wedding Anniversary today! Gosh that makes me feel old. :-S

Funny you should say about your ex Ann. If I had stayed with my first hubby it would have been our 50th anniversary in April this year. I am glad I did'nt stay though.

Oh wanted toasted cheese sandwiches tonight and not a meal so thats what I did. I had a bacon sandwich.

Your book sounds interesting Ann what good tips are in it?

Hope Jane and Chris had a good journey home and have now settled in. I wonder if they collected Thomas or left it till tomorrow?

Morning AnnG, morning all

Bright and sunny here, washing machines on so the washing will be pegged out soon.

The flooding sounds bad AnnG, I hope everyone is okay and Conrad if it's near him.

Biggles sounds such a lovely dog greeting you like that Frank. I'm pleased my post reminded you to book a table for Thursday, that's done now so you can relax and enjoy the day.

You have a lot of crafts coming up Ann. That was lucky finding the book in The Works. I love books from there, they are always interesting to read.

Is Thomas back home with you now Jane. He'll be out and about hunting again soon.

Nothing much planned for today, I didn't have any help wiring the screening so it's not ready to put up yet. Pity really as the weather would of been perfect to do it today. Hopefully they'll be a few more nice days next week and OH won't be so busy, so we can crack on with it.

What is everyone else up to today?

Frank

Frank Report 14 Sep 2019 10:23

Good morning all,

I would be coming up to my 60th Anniversary on the 3rd October. That year we had an "INDIAN SUMMER," and was swimming in the sea in Jersey on honeymoon.

Sorry Anne, BIGGLES is a short noses "SNOUCHER" (sp) BLACK with a big black spot on his tongue. He is the most layed back dog I have ever know. NOTHING disturbes him, and he never barks. He is lying at my feet, fast asleep. !!!

Ros has gone off early with Carolyn, to get bits and pieces from Tesco. As mentioned Jan, Carolyn and Ros are off to see "DOWNTOWN ABBEY" at 1.00 pm.

I had a terrible night again, was still awake at 3.00 am. Got uo to the loo, and wassail lying awake at 4.30. Woke at 7.45 and Ros had already got up, I layed until 8.30 and got up for my COT, and Rice Crispies.

Glad you are home safe, and sound Jane. What part of SUFFOLK did you stay at. ??
I think the East Coast is as nice as anywhere, provided you have decent weather. When are the CHILDREN BACK. Seems funny saying that. lol lol. I bet Thomas was pleased to get back to his regular "HUNTING GROUND" Had he lost weight, being without his bunnies. ??

Beautiful sunny day here, which they say should last over the weekend . Let's hope so. The evenings are starting to cool down now, so will soon need a bit of heat on.

I am contemplating walking to the pub for a pint at lunchtime. There might be someone there to have a chat with, better than talking to myself everyday. lol lol

I must ring Barry to see if he can give me two hours this week, then he can have a good old go at the wisteria, it has grown so big this year, and is all over Pam and Denis's garage roof.

Hope you enjoy whatever you are going do today. xxxx

Morning AnnG and Gill and all,

Beautiful morning dewy here sunshine and blue sky as far as the eye can see. Proper September morning.

Those floods are terrible and they say five people have lost their lives so far. Like oh always says when he see floods on the telly with people wading through the water, think of all the sewage that in the water. a terrible health risk.

Only have to go to the shop this mroning for some milk and the paper and do the egg delivery and see the boys then the rest of the day is mine to do whatever I wish.

Everyone must be out in the sunshine.

Been to Em's and they are going to take the boys to the beach this afternoon and getting fish and chips after an afternoon on the beach. I forgot to ask where they were going!! or if they can find me any shells.

Afternoon All,

Sunny here and his lordship has gone to a match near Peterborough with some pals.

Yes Frank that rings a bell so I think you did tell us what breed BIGGLES is. They are such nice little dogs and there was one nextdoor when we first moved in here. :-) He certainly enjoys his times with you and it sounds like you could also do with 40 winks after your bad night! Good idea to get Barry to sort the Wisteria out. It amazes me how fast the shrubs in the garden grow as well. Our Bottlebrush has put on over a foot of growth since I trimmed it in the Spring and most things need a trim again now.. Downton Abbey is a film we want to see too so I hope Ros says it is good!

The book is aimed at absolute beginners like me Mel and was only £4. It shows you all about different wools and everything from scratch. Tips for doing stripes, textures and feathers that sort of thing. Yes I'm glad I 'moved on' and didn't stay with my ex too! It doesn't bear thinking about what would be in all that floodwater!

Gill it's a pity you can't do the screening today, but I think it will be fine tomorrow at least so you may be able to do it then. My OH never seems to be at home when I need some help!! I asked him to oil all the locks and hinges on the windows doors and gates last week, but when the fencing man came I could hardly open the padlock and latch on the sidegate for rust. He's now said he'll do them in the morning. :-)

Well as often happens I have some peace and quiet to get on and I can't make my mind up what to get on with, so end up doing nothing! I better at least tidy in here though so I will at least have some desk space!

Frank Report 14 Sep 2019 15:31

Well I didn't bother to go out, so watched Liverpool beat Newcastle 2--1. Not a bad game, liverpool were all over them.

Jan, bought Kerry with her to go to the Cinema. So all four of them went off. Ros had bought three bags of POPCORN, not knowing Kerry was coming, as it turns out she can't have any as she has just had some tooth work done. So she will have Ice Cream.

What a beautiful day again, and from the what the paper said this morning, we could have 10 days more of this. GREAT.

Conrad sent lots of photo's of the floods and Rain. The main motorway has two tunnels going under roads above. These were flooded to within SIX FOOT OF THE TOP on the tunnels, Roads and properties were flooded, and I think FIVE or more people are dead. Carolyn has friends who are in Majorca, who are experience the same sort of weather, so we are very lucky. !!!

As much as I wanted to close my eyes this afternoon, I have managed to stay awake, more than can be said of BIGGLES, He could sleep for England. lol lol

If Downton film is as good as the TV series, I think everyone will enjoy seeing the film.

Jan has bought Conrad's things he has asked for, together with Ros's Birthday present. The box is MASSIVE, and from what Jan said, was bought to house the present. So Lord know what's in it.

I have renewed the House and Contents insurance today. It's gone up by £18.00. When I asked why, she couldn't give me a sensible answer. Blabbing on about this and that. I had previously checked prices on line, and they were on par, with the rest.

I had a nice prawn cocktail Roll at lunchtime, followed by a cream doughnut and coffee, now I don't fee; hungry, so not sure if I will eat tonight. especially as we are eating at 1.15 pm tomorrow. I just can't face THREE MEALS A DAY.

Don't knowwhat timeto expect the girls, I will put the kettle on, in case they want tea. I think Carolyn will be taking BIGGLES for his long afternoon walk. It's something that I just can't do. !!! Good job she loves a good walk and loves Biggs.

Lovely sunny day here. We sat in the garden with a sandwich at lunch time and it was so peaceful. All we could hear was the bees buzzing round the flowers. Then someone nearby started up a very noisy hedge trimmer so that was the end of the peace :-|

I haven’t been on the thread for a few days as I have had a migraine. It isn’t one of the really bad ones that leave me comatose in bed for several days but it's been bad enough to make me wear dark glasses and stay off the computer. It’s still there in the background so this is a quick post and then I’m closing down for today.

I’ve missed so much that I can't respond to it all but I hope everyone is well and enjoying good weather.

Frank you mentioned Ros going to see Downton. I hope it is good as I am supposed to be going on Tuesday with 3 lady friends.

Eyes are going a bit blurry again so I’ll sign off now.

Evening all,

What a beautiful day it's been ,the sun has been really warm and we've been out n the garden this afternoon again making the most of it .

Hope Ros enjoyed Downton this afternoon they keep advertising it on the tele and it looks good ,i don't think they allow you to take your own pop corn in our little cinema ,i suppose they want you to buy theirs .
Hope you manage to get a good nights sleep tonight Frank ,i wonder what's in the box? some thing for the garden maybe .

Ann that sounds a handy little book you've bought from the Works ,next week in Aldi they have lots of craft things ,Wool , Pom Pom makers , knitting needles, crochet hooks ,fat quarters all sorts ,i might get the girls some bits for christmas .

I bet the boys enjoyed the beach trip Mel shame you didn't remember to ask about the shells they would have had a fine old time finding shells ,the girls love it when there's some little rock pools when the tide has just gone out and usually find some little crabs .

Shame you couldn't get the screening all up Gill if you've had the weather we have it would have been an ideal day for doing it .

Hope Jane and Chris got home ok and Thomas is back home too ,i expect Jane's been busy sorting out all the washing .

Vera i hope the migraine soon eases for you .

Evening All

I am already missing the peace and quiet of being away. Next door has had the chain saw going all day today :-S. All the washing is done and put away . James did his early yesterday. He got home here late on Thursday eve after a great time with Hannah in Lisbon. He said it is a wonderful place. He did say that 5 /6 days with his Sister was enough LOL

I haven't heard about all this flooding Frank. it sounds terrible. I hope Ros has enjoyed the film today as we are going to see it too sometime soon.

Vera I hope you nasty migraine soon clears awayand that you soon feel much better.

I have not had chance to go through all the posts as I don'.t seem to have stopped today. Hannah is back tomorrow afternoon until Wednesday. It seems a while since we saw her.

Cottage Pies ready and our Runners simmering so dinner is almost ready. I don't think will get many more Runners now :-(

Thomas is home :-D well he was but now he seems to have gone a hunting. He never left the garden all day either. I shall have to leave it to either Chris or James to call him in tonight as I am bushed and won't be late to bed.

Annx Report 14 Sep 2019 19:50

It sounds like you have caught up with the washing and putting away of things now Jane. I expect that big tree will take a few chainsawing sessions to get it down and sawn up into logs. It's good that James enjoyed his break with Hannah. He'll soon be seeing his sister again if she is only home for a few days! ;-) ;-) lol Our runners are just about finished and seem to have stopped growing.

Mandy thanks for the mention of the things coming in Aldi next week and I will pop and have a look as I might see if I can get some pom pom makers. We are doing embroidery after next week so I might see what the fat quarters are like as well. Do any of the girls like making things?

Vera those headaches are horrid so I hope it soon completely goes. You feel so drained afterwards as well. An early night may help.

Maybe it was the heat today and the sun that brought the migraine on Vera. I hope you have got over it now and will feel mush better int he morning.

Ann you'll love the pom pom makers but you make a lot of dust when you trim them. You can do so much with them and I love mine. I have most of the sizes which oh bought me.

I'd love to see the Downton film but not much hope of me getting to see it from here.
I seem to have a lot of flies in here tonight. I keep swatting them but they are still around.shall have to see what windows are open.

Well my crafting afternoon diod'nt work out as oh decided to empty the hot tub and said about using a shower stool. I went over the end of the garden where there is a shower stall we had up the caravan when a disabled friend came down and stay a few days. It was covered in green and rust coloured mossy stuff so I spent the whole afternoon cleaning it up. Oh has also bought a walker seat which arrived today. I must get him to go to the docs but first I have to get him to sit still for enough time for me to cut his hair.

Afternoon all

It's been raining here and it's not very warm.

AnnG should be on the plane now. Safe journey home.

Have you got through all your washing now Jane? That's the problem with going away you have all the washing to do when you return home. It sounds like James and Hannah had a nice time away. It'll be nice to catch up with her yourself when she visits.

I'm like you Mel and can't go to see Downton Abbey, the nearest cinema is miles away, so I tend to buy the films when they come out on DVD, at least that way I can keep them to watch again.

Sorry to hear you have a migraine Vera I hope it clears completely soon. Good idea to keep away from the computer screen.

It sounds like you've got plenty of new crafts coming up you can do Ann. That was nice of Mandy to let you know about the craft items at Aldi.

Still plodding on with OH's family tree, I'm starting to get fed up of it now as it's a massive job and some days I don't seem to get very far, which is a bit down heartening. I'll be taking another look at the American ones today, but I'm finding those a little difficult to find. Never mind hopefully they'll be finished soon, then I can move onto the UK ones, which should be a lot quicker.
