Good morning all,

We have a beautiful day here this mornng with sunshine and wall to wall blue sky and no wind. Its mornings like this that make yu glad to be alive. Rain is forcast for tomorrow so if you have weather like us today make the most of it.

I have to go up the shop for some milk which I did'nt realise I was so short on till after I had been yesterday so a trip up the road is a must.

I hope Jane has this weather in Suffolk as it should be lovely for a day out somewhere for her and Chris. The cottage looked really nice did'nt it?

Hi Mandy its clouded over a bit now and its not too warm out either. A proper autumn morning now. It will be good to get that new light up so if anyone peeps over the wall they will get blasted. Will it affect anyone around you or is only the church behind you?

Good morning Mel and Mandy, and A GOOD MORNING to all you others,

Very calm sort of morning here. Val's son is back doing the decking SO NOT A QUIET MORNING.

Another iffy night again, got our to the loo at 4.00 am and clocked watched till I got up at seven.

Tony bought the paper around 8.00 so I have had scan through. Will read in in more detail later, not that theres much good news these days. !!!

Mandy I didn't know people still had their Chimneys sweet. I remember as a boy watching the HEAD of the broom come out of the chimney, and SHOUTING "IT'S OUT" Then the big clear up, and the soot taken down the garden and speed around, Don't know why, is there any goodness left in soot ???

It looks like we have "BIGGLES" on Thursday for a couple of days. Alan his Dad has a Choir concert in Kent. It appears Biggles has blacked his copy book. Anne bought a box of chocolates and put them on the table unopened. He managed to get them down, opened them and ate the lot. ;-) ;-) ;-) LITTLE SWEETHEART. I don't think :-| :-| :-|

Still trying to sort out for next Sunday's lunch. Jan will be delighted if Simon and Sally can join us. Now it's a matter of contacting them to find out, then trying to book an extra two places. Watch this SPACE. !!!!

I hope Jane and Chris are having this fine weather, as at the moment we have blue sky's and watery sunshine.

Off my my Shower and shave, not sure what to wear, decisions, decisions. lol lol See you all later. xxxx

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Sep 2019 15:07

Yes thank you Ann I did see it and think maybe your right and stay. I don't do facebook and I know some of the others don't either.

We have sunshine but there are more clouds in the sky now than when I first posted this morning when it was clear blue.

I have finished one of my autumn pagan rings. I had to do the middle bit three times before I got it right.

Hope Giggles is ok Frank, as chocolate is highly toxit for dogs and should never be given to them. It can even cause death!! A checkup might be in order?!

Afternoon all

Well, I don't know where the last couple of days have gone but I don't seem to have found time to post. There are too many posts over the last two or three days for me to comment on them but I have managed to read them all.

The photos of Rose Cottage look lovely Jane. It looks a very relaxing sort of place and I hope you are enjoying your stay there and the weather is being kind to you. The same goes for AnnG as well. I hope you are having a good break.

Now OH is so much better we are really looking forward to our stay in Jersey in a couple of weeks. It's only 6 days but after our disastrous Austrian holiday anything will be great. Now the insurance has paid up we are thinking we might look for a week or so away around February time - get a bit of winter sun somewhere.

I am glad Ros found a signet ring for Lewis. I am sure he will be delighted with it. When our grandchildren get to about 17 we ask them if they would like their "coming of age" present at 18 or 21. I am afraid they don't get 2 biggies. The three that have reached that age all opted for 18. They all got a reasonably substantial cheque and the two girls got modern style necklaces incorporating their birthstone while our grandson, who likes "quality" products got a Mont Blanc wallet with his initials punched on it. Lewis is doing well with his saving Frank. Our grandson has a fair bit put by as well but the girls tend to spend more. Still, it's their money and they all work hard for it. The only one without at least a Saturday/holiday job is the youngest and I've no doubt she'll be getting part time work as well in a year or two.

Yesterday was so cold with a bitter wind. It was a real shock to the system - suddenly it felt like autumn. Today is a little bit warmer but I am still sitting in the study with a wool cardi over my shirt and thick socks on my feet. I think we are getting near the time when I am going to have to get a couple of fan heaters out to use in the evenings. The trouble with underfloor heating is that it is not very flexible. You can't just pop the heating on for an hour. We have found the cheapest and most efficient way to use it is to put it on and then just leave it going so I don't want to put it on till at least mid-October. Then we usually turn it off around mid-May depending on the weather.

Oh heck, OH has just caught his elbow on the door and thrown half a cup of tea over the carpet so I'm off on mopping up duties now.

Annx Report 8 Sep 2019 17:14

Afternoon All,

Same lovely day here and rain due tomorrow as you say Mel. I hope it's the same for Jane and Chris today and that they are enjoying themselves.

We went to the bead fair but OH was disappointed to see a wedding marquee on the football pitch so no game to watch, but he did have his newspapers to read. :-) As is usual I spent a bit more than intended, but it's best to get things when you can see them as colours on the internet can be way out. We called at Homesense on the way back and at the factory shop and then for a coffee at the farm shop.

It sounds like you were on a roll with your craft Mel. I like it when that happens and everything is going well! Like you with the couple of shows I've entered, the winning doesn't matter to me, but it does give an idea of how good your makes are and I love to see what other people make as some are so inventive and clever!

Another bad night Frank.........I don't know if you are like I am sometimes and your head is just so full of thoughts. The harder I try to empty my head, the more I think of other things. :-S So greedy Biggles will be visiting again and looking for the treats you have for him. What colour is he and how big? I see you are making progress with sorting Sunday's lunch. It will be quite a get together if S&S can come too.

Vera, after that stressful time in Austria with your hubby immobilised and in pain, it's good he's improved so much you will be able to relax and enjoy your Jersey break. Your plan for a holiday in February sounds good too. I have been popping socks on some evenings too and wearing a fleece top as the temperature drops quite quickly and it hardly seems worth putting the heating on yet.

Back to cutting the felt for my pictures now and cutting down the picture mounts to fit. I need to clear a space first!

Evening all

I've woken up feeling awful and now OH has started with this bug. We both have sore throats and headaches and my ear has started playing up again. I think the two of us will be having an early night tonight. I've been having nightmares for the past week, I don't know what's triggering them off but I'm not sleeping very well, so I feel really tired all day. Hopefully what ever it is will go soon and we'll start feeling better again. Thankfully Sandra is okay.

Lovely pictures of the cottage Jane, what a wonderful place to stay. Hope you are having a nice relaxing time.

I'm so pleased your OH is finally on the mend Vera and you now have another holiday to look forward to.

What a lovely idea to hide painted rocks and pebbles Mandy, it sounds like a lot of fun.

You found lots of nice things when you were out Ann, I also find colours are different online to what you expect them to be, I'd much rather buy things you can see.

I'm going to get another painkiller for my headache, sorry I haven't replied to everyone, hopefully I'll feel a little better tomorrow.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 8 Sep 2019 22:11

Mandy that hiding rocks ‘thing’ has been popular here and in Hampshire for quite a while now. In fact it is so popular that here in Lanzarote along the promenade is a lady painting pictures on large pebbles and selling them. So it has spread to most area I guess.

Vera you and Ih really deserve a nice break in Jersey. One of our favourite places, we might go there next year for our 60th.mWe honeymooned there and had a holiday on our 49th and 50th anniversaries. Where are you staying, which hotel?

Mel I am pleased you are going to keep the thread going.

Gill sorry you have another bug, any idea what triggers them, Sandra does seem to avoid catching them which is good.

Annx the bead fair sounds good, pleased to see you kept the side up and spent plenty.

I can see we will be putting the heating on when we get home. It is still hot and sunny in the day here but this evening there was a chilly wind. Just sitting in our apartment with a vodca caramel to finish our evening. We shared calamari to start and both had a rather large sirloin steak with tiny squares of roast potatoes and vegetables this evening.

Started something else this afternoon. I am doing some pegs for the childrean so they can be really cheap. I have glittered them this afternoon and am going to stick angel faces on the top.

I am so pleased T is so much better and it sounds like you will be able to enjoy your Jersey break Vera. Did you manage to get the tea out of the carpet?

Sorry your both ill again Gill. You both take it easy and get well soon. Hope Sandra dos'nt get it.

Good morning all

A miserable day here, cold and wet. It is not supposed to get above 13 or 14 degrees here and to rain on and off all day. Brrr

OH has taken the car to have it’s paintwork sorted where the chap backed into me and a friend is going to pick him up and bring him back. Thank goodness for friends. Our group are very reliant on each other as buses aren’t frequent and often don’t go where you want to be. The trouble is our friends are all in our age group and one or two have already given up their cars.

OH is back already - just drawn up. Better go and make him and friend a cuppa. BBL

Morning Vera, morning all

Dull and damp here to Vera, I read on the Internet we'e suppose to be having gales later in the week. I really don't like the wind so I'm not looking forward to that.

I think I caught the bug off my mum AnnG, she came to visit and was complaining of a sore throat and not feeling very well, then I must of passed it onto OH. If there's a bug doing the rounds you can guarantee I'll catch it, better me than Sandra though. I had a decent nights sleep last night which has helped, but was woken up by yet more workmen. There's someone a few doors down on the other side of the road having their drive dug up by what looks like the Utilities people, so I don't know how long that's going to last. It's been like living on a building site this past year.

You have very good friends Vera helping you out like that, we struggled when OH had his op, mum helped twice but no one else did, you're very lucky. Pleased your car is all sorted now.

It sounds like you're busy with your craft making again Mel, love to see pictures of the things you make, if you take some.

How are you getting on with cutting your felt Ann, does it take you long? What are you making this time? Love to see a picture when you're finished.

Hope you had a better nights sleep last night Frank, there's nothing worse than lack of sleep, I was still awake until 5am the other night, I felt so bad I couldn't get to sleep. Needless to say I didn't wake up until late the following day which then put my body clock out. I felt like a zombie for days after that. Thankfully I had a good night last night and feel much better for it. I hope you can sort Sunday out and everyone has a good time.

I'm the same as Frank Mandy and didn't realise chimneys are still swept, but thinking about it with log burners they would need cleaning every now and then. It's nice of your son to do it for you and to help Colin put the new light up.

Going to get the bin in now, they are very late emptying it today, it's normally done before 9am. With the weather being so wet I'll get back on with OH's tree, it's certainly keeping me busy. I'm getting there though......slowly.

Morning Gill Vera and all,

Its been raining in the night and this mroning its all dull and dreary and cold and the leaves on the trees are just moving slightly so one of those quiet days. I suppose that means I should be doing housework but we will see....... If I feel like it I may if I don't then I won't.

I have a bit of a raw thoat this morning and am still having this indigestion so may have to go to the docs to see what it is.

Glad you had a better night last night Gill. Sleep is a good healer.

Your car should soon be sorted Vera then before your holiday.

Good morning to you all,

Very overcast here, with the promise of rain and max. Temp of 15 degrees, so not a day for being outside.

Vera, I too spent my honeymoon in Jersey. The "HOTEL MANDALAY" October 1959. So it would be 60s years. I did take Ros there a few years ago with a couple of friends. Nothing seems to have changed in all those years. The usual visit to the UNDERGROUND HOSPITAL, dinner at the "LOBSTER POT" Best lobster in the world, well it was then. lol lol. I hope you have a lovely break. Will you fly from Norwich Airport. I say on local news, that HORSHAM ST FAITH is now Norwich Airport. That was my parent Station, when I was at OLD CATTON in the RAF in 1958.

Yes everything sorted for next Sunday lunch. I have moved the booking 1.15 pm so will give Simon and Sally time to eat with us, and still be a Whitlebury Psrk by 3,00 pm. They have a spa day, and a night at the hotel, bought for them as a Christmas Present by one of Sally's Daughters.

I was in bed by 7.30 last night completely shattered. I cooked the dinner, but just couldn't face eating it, so I put it in the oven. This morning It went in the bin, together with the rest of the joint, as Ros said it had a funny taste to it. Lamb Shanks out of the freezer for tonight. I was settled down and asleep before 8.30 and didn't wake until 6.00 am this morning, So I think I needed a good nights sleep. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Gill you do seem to pick up anything that's going around, are you getting enough Vitimin"C" ?? It's good that Sanda's immune system keeps her free of these bugs.

Ros has bought a new Tefal Ironing Station. It weights a "TON" but from what she has said, It's the best iron she has ever had, and it's effortless to use. So she's a "HAPPY BUNNIE" Glad that something pleases her. ;-) ;-) ;-) Just joking.

Your poor OH Annx, going out, and looking forward to a match, and only seeing A BIG TENT lol lol Did he go for a wonder round the wedding ideas. :-0 :-0 :-0

When is our Jane back ?? She seems to have picked a nice few days. I'm not sure if she will be able to go walkabout, but I know Chris like a good walk. I suppose she can find something to occupy herself, if he does go off for a nosey round. !!!

Feeling as though my body needs something more than a bowl of cereal, that I had earlier, So might go a get some Ham and Eggs, for an early lunch. See you all later. Have a nice day, whatever you are doing. xxxx
