Gill be careful when you take the euphorbia out, Vera;s OH had some of the stem 'juice' go in his eye and had quite a poorly eye. Wear gloves and protect your eyes as they are very toxic. We have taken our two out and thrown them away now. We bought two Ostiospernums, a petunia we had not seen before, lilac and white striped, an orchid that was reduced to £2.99, a low growing sunflower and a red leafed Coleus, and OH wanted some long handles edge cutters for the lawn, I wanted a new small handled secateurs (got Wilkinsons reduced to £4.99 from £9.99), then I had bubbles fir Inara, and two packs of summer weight socks for me. one pack trainer socks the other ordinary but not elasiticated tops.

Hallo everyone
Isn’t it strange that all the operations seem to be in the same week? You will be able to compare notes.
It has been hot and sunny here today, though there is a bit of a breeze now and it is now overcast. We went into town this morning to get my glasses adjusted as the arm was digging into my head and I wanted to pick up a few oddments for our holiday. I needed some new underwear and found a box of 4 pairs of pants. Paid for them, got them home, opened the box and found the pants clipped together with one of those security devices which I can’t remove. How on earth is the customer or cashier supposed to know that the security tag has to be removed when it is hidden inside the box? So now I have to waste an hour on Monday going back to the shop.
I’m glad you got the hot tub going Mel. Enjoy :-). It’s never appealed to me but my daughter was keen to have one and today I got an email from her just saying “been and gone and done it” and attaching a picture of her new hot tub.
I am sure you will make a good job of the lampshades Gill. Many moons ago, when we were a bit hard up, I sewed pleated silk lampshades as an outworker. As I am not very good at crafts and they had to be right I shed many a tear over them. I worked like a slave all week to get my dozen finished in time and earn a measly £1. My friend did them as well but she was better than me and spent a couple of hours on two evenings to do them and was free for the rest of the week. After a while I gave up on lampshades and went on to sewing umbrellas and typing envelopes.
Has Frank posted today? I hope he is OK.
My youngest grandchild will be 13 tomorrow Don’t the years go by quickly. She is in the air cadets and they had a formal dinner recently. My son and his wife took her and bought her a dark green lace “cocktail” dress for the occasion. It was an adult’s dress but very suitable for her age and she looked sooo grown up. Gave me quite a lump in the throat.
Time to make a cup of tea I think, then prepare the veggies to go with tonight’s meat pie.
EDIT. I am glad Ann mentioned the Euphorbia sap Gill. I meant to do so but it went right out of my head. Wear gloves when you take it out and protect your eyes with glasses or goggles.

Evening All,
A dull start, then sunny all day here. OH has spent 3 hours on the garden and has finally agreed with me that the hoe is much easier for clearing small weeds!! I have one with the flat serrated edge that I always used at my old house. After 19 years on his hands and knees here, it's the best thing since sliced bread! What is he like!
Thanks Mel and Mandy for the info on the pillows and pillowcases for them.
Gill, OH was home the same day when he had his hernia done. He was silly and thought he didn't need all the painkillers, but he ended up with more pain so he did, so make sure Glynn takes what he should. I think he took a week's leave from work and then worked from home for a week and by then could drive to work as I know I didn't take him as I was still at work and he was working from Derby at the time. Fancy all 3 ops being the same week!
I think the cotton should be fine to re-cover the lampshades as long as you don't use any inflammable glue and watch what bulbs you use. I looked on pinterest and there are instructions how to do it and some are even using wallpaper. If you are covering over what is already there I would drape the material over first to check enough light comes through.
Jane I have wondered about a little 'foot' pool too! I think it's a good idea. My legs looked pasty in Cornwall last week! lol. Did you tell us what meal you had yesterday? You know how nosey we are!! :-)
I have been sorting OH's car insurance for him by looking on a few comparison sites. My word, they want to know everything except your inside leg measurement! That was something dad often said. I finally settled on the AA and saved him over £70 on his renewal so that was good. Next I need to sort the house insurance.
I used to have 2 Euphorbias, a tall red topped one and a shorter bright yellow Polychroma. I had a Euphorbia cactus too and all 3 had a milky, irritating sap. I don't have any now, but just touching the cactus spines would cause it to ooze the milky sap. :-0
That's good you got your scripts without more hassle Mel. Long may it continue!
That's good the pool is up and filling now Mandy. It sounds like your son could have done with a dip after getting hot doing it.
Vera it's horrid when your glasses have an arm that digs in so it will be good to get that sorted. Fancy the the security clip being in the box of pants and how daft to put it inside as you say! I wonder how many people have had to go back to get it removed.

I'm pleased you have been told about the Euphorbia Gill as they can be dangerous and you must wear glasses when tackling them.
I have been in the garden most of the afternoon pottering in the shed repotting some of my Cape Primroses off the kitchen windowsill. They have been in their pots for years so I thought I would give them some fresh compost. I split the big flowered mauve one. Now I only have 5 more to do. My white one has grown right out of its pot and is hanging over the edge and still has lovely flowers on it.
Oh was mowing the top lawn and then came down and went back in the tub.I shall go in it later after dinner when he's gone to bed. He has Alexa out there with him playing soft piano music and looks really relaxed when he comes out. I don't think the mowing did his hip much good as he is using the walking frame.
You had a nice spend up AnnG. Lots of nice plants and socks. I love socks they are one of my weaknesses but I have never got on with those trainer socks in fact I don't wer trainers anymore. Think I have only ever had one pair when I had the pet shop.
Fillet steak, mushroom, asparagus and peas tonight and a nice bottle of White Grenache chilled in the fridge. Yum yum..... :-D

Liverpool won 2-0 I'm so pleased. OH went to the pub to watch it but I found the score online so tracked it on there while Sandra was watching the soap awards, her Hollyoaks won so she was pleased to. All in all a great evening. There were fireworks going off around here a minute ago and we could hear lots of cheering all around us.
It sounds like you've bought lots of lovely plants AnnG, yes I will be very careful taking the Euphorbia's out, I remember Vera telling us about her OH's eye, luckily OH dug all the old clay out last year when we were making the borders and put some soft soil in there so it shouldn't be to hard to take it out, I might cover it with a plastic bag then pull it out for added protection while wearing gloves and eye protectors, better to be safe than sorry.
Well the gate didn't get done next door, surprise surprise, so we don't know when it's going to be done now. Hopefully it won't be to long.
I've just let OH know about the painkillers Ann, he's also one for not thinking he needs them, so I'll have to make sure we have plenty in just incase he wants them. The doctor told him he won't be able to drive for about 10 days but after that it depends on how he feels, so it'll be up to him when he thinks he can drive again then. I've been thinking and may put the cotton over the top of the original material on the lampshades, if the material I use is very light it should let the light of the bulb come through, that way I can stitch it to the frame through the material that's on there, so won't need any glue, hopefully it'll work and be okay. I might take a look on Pinterest. I wouldn't of thought using wallpaper would be a good idea, but I suppose with a low wattage bulb it could work.
It sounds like your OH is enjoying the hot tub Mel and relaxing to nice piano music, it sounds like heaven. Is it working with his hip pain? It'll be nice and relaxing for you to, after a hard days work in your garden.
I bet your granddaughter looked lovely in her grown up cocktail dress Vera, it sounds like it would of been a night to remember for years to come. Yes, I'll make sure we're both very careful with the Euphorbia, I even said to OH when he takes it to the tip to just throw the bag away with it, rather than trying to tip it out and told him about your OH and his eye. I need to think about what to put in their places now or I'll end up with two bare patches in the border. £1 wasn't much for all that work, I don't blame you for doing other things to earn money.

good morning to you all,
Sorry I was a no show yesterday, I won't in to reasons why, but they were not pleasant and involved Jan and I.
After getting yesterday morning, I showered and shaved, put on shorts and short sleeve shirt, and went for a walk around the area. I ended up in a little park area, where I sat and listened to a beautiful song bird. No idea what it was, but it song when on and on.
Conrad saw me sitting on the bench when he was going to check on some of the sites, so I went with him. We drove all over the place, I of course didn't know where we were going, but I enjoyed the ride. When we got back the girls were ready to go to lunch. We went to Jan's favourite beachside Spanish restaurant, it only does TAPAS, but the Menu was like EIGHT PAGES LONG. We left it to Conrad to order . Think we had eight or nine different dishes. which we all enjoyed.
They dropped me back at the villa, so I could keep an eye on Lola and the pups, while they went to a place to buy PUPPY toys and food. They were gone for a good two hours, so I sat out in the sun for a while, then came in and read. Nobody wanted anything eat, so we sat around chatting and playing with the pups. They are getting so boisterous, wanting to be out on the floor, running and jumping on each other.
Getting close to 9.00 pm, Conrad and I went next door to the show house to watch the football. I was so pleased for him that Liverpool won, as they deserved the win after the performance they put up. Bu theme the celebrations and presentations were all done and dusted it was getting close to mid-night, so when we returned, I went straight to bed, and slept until 8.30 this morning.
We are going out to lunch around 1,00 pm. To the same place Conrad Ros and I went to last Sunday. I think it will be the traditional Paella which I missed out on last week as it only comes for TWO PEOPLE. and Ros and Conrad had it, while I had a mixed fish dish.
I see everyone is getting into the HOT TUB mood. and getting the pools filled for the summer. I must admit I have never been in one, only a Jaqusie (sp) at the swimming pool, and that was many years ago.
I think Conrad has booked a table, for our Anniversary tomorrow evening, at a beachside restaurant, of which there are many to choose from in this area.
I'm off for a sun break, then indoors again, with my book. Have a restful Sunday and enjoy the fine weather. xxxx

Morning all
Cloudy again but very warm, we've just been watching all the planes coming into Liverpool airport, apparently there were 9000 planes over Britain on Friday and lot of them going from Liverpool and Manchester airports. It's going to be chaos in those areas today.
Nice to see you back on here Frank, we wondered where you were yesterday. Sorry to hear you and Jan had a falling out and hope it's all sorted now. That was nice of Conrad to take you out to some of the sites, I bet that was interesting to see.
OH and I have just spent a few hours weeding and moving pots around. I decided to move the bench yesterday out of the sight of the camera from next door. I don't know if they can see us, but I feel uncomfortable sitting there so will feel better sitting in the area it's in now. We've made a beautiful area of plants where the bench was, which looks much better than it did when the bench was there, so it's all turned out good in the end. There were a few rain showers so we had to keep going into the greenhouse to avoid them. There's still a bit more weeding to do but because they're at the back of the border we have to move lots of pots to get to them and we've had enough for today, so that'll be a job for another day as we've moved enough pots to get to some of the back of the border already and I was getting hot, if I get to hot I end up with a migraine, so thought it best to come in.
Nothing else planned for the rest of the day, so I'll watch a few programmes off the planner, I still haven't watched "The Planets" so I might watch that and then I'll have another go at OH's tree. I'm getting on great with it since Mel's help, as I just needed a starting point.
Thanks again Mel, OH and I really appreciated all your hard work which helped me no end to adding more people to his tree. <3 <3 Did you enjoy your relaxing time in the hot tub last night? I bet it helps you sleep to.

Afternoon Everyone
Oops Frank,I hope things are ok now between you and Jan.Am I right in remembering some years ago you had a massive fall out with her when they lived up here? A beachside Restaurant for your Anniversary tomorrow sounds just perfect :-D
Vera ,I bet that was a big lump in your throat when you saw your Grandaughter all dressed up in her Cocktail dress ready for the big do :-D. She probably felt 18 instead of 13 :-D
Mel OH will be all wrinkled with all the time he is spending in the Hot Tub :-D :-D. It sounds a hit anyway and hopefully will help with the pain .Do you put your hair right up when you go in. Maybe wear a bath hat :-D :-D.
I have been to Dunelm and got the v shaped pillow. It is a Memory Foam so it better be goo. There is 20% off everything so I paid £28 instead of £36. 2 pillow cases ,flannels,a back brush ,shower mat and a duster thing on a stick. I nipped into Aldi which was next door just for a couple of things and it was heaving there.
What a day yesterday !. It was my odd friends 65th yesterday so I sent her a message ,and hoping she was going to have a lovely day .They were going to have a BBQ To cut a long story short(if I can) her OH went missing !!!!. He is classed as a vulnerable person as he is not great mobility wise and speech too after a stroke years ago. As the hours went the Brother informed the Police. By the evening the Police were searching my friends house ,loft etc. Nothing. Nothing all night .Poor girl was at her wits end. Anyway this morning I got a message to say he was in Edinburgh!!!!!! He must have got the train. He is on his way back I think but will go to his parents and not home. This is what he wants. So I said to my friend who is obviously desperate to see him just to let him go to his Mum and Dad and not go rushing in with questions ,hugs etc as it would overwhelm him .The main thing is that he is alive and safe .I suggested she tried ot get a few hours sleep now as she has been up all night.
I feel quite exhausted too !.I couldnt be there with her as she lives in Plymouth.
So no gate still Gill. Maybe this week . It is so humid here and not very nice.We are just having a little shower. Painkillers are so important after an op Gill and they need to be taken regularly at the right time . Men can be so blasted stubborn when it comes to this and seem prepared to suffer rather than admit they need the painkillers . I know after my op I will make sure I am dosed up to the eyeballs :-D :-D
Ann do you have a Dunelm near you? If you do it might be worth going and getting one of these V pillows. The pillowcases were £3. Last night I went to bed before Chris and he said he could hear me snoring when he was downstairs.I sounded like a motorbike apparently :-S :-S Heaven knows what I will be like when I am having to sleep on my back !!!, with a wedge between my legs too :-S
How is the pool Mandy? All filled up now? The children will be desperate to get in there :-D

What a journey that man took from Plymouth to Edinburgh !!!! Gosh I bet your friend was so relieved they found him. Where do his parents live?
Your getting yourself all ready for the op then Jane with buying the V pillow etc. Do hope it all goes well for you when the time comes. Not long now. I always put my hair up Jane and never wear it down as it get in the way all the time. If I bend over with it down it reaches the floor or get stuck in the frisge door etc. No I don't wear a shower cap even in the shower.
Oh is snoring after his dip and I am just going to start the big breakfast.
Its pouring with rain here now. It did start while he was in the tub but it was that fine stuff blowing in the wind and when it stopped I went and did the girls. There will be no gardening done today thats for sure.

Mel , his Parents are in Plymouth . I think he might need to have some help regarding his state of mind. I think he chose the longest train journey LOL He is a train fanatic. I think that it is going to be a difficult time ahead .They are both rather eccentric and live in a little bungalow that is stuffed to the rafters with all sorts of 'stuff'. I went there once with Janice and we were shocked to say the least to see how they live.
It must be nice to be in the tub when it is raining. I used to love swimming in the sea when it rained.
I have my pre op assessment tomorrow morning.I think it takes about an hour so Chris will drop me off and just wait in the car . Have to say I am getting the jitters a bit now about the op. I think I will be having the spinal block rather than a General Anaesthetic plus hopefully some knock out drugs so I dont know what is happening. I think my weight is against me for a G A :-S I m just too bloody fat :-| :-|

You're not fat Jane, you're cuddly <3 <3 <3 Just think when the op is over and you've fully recovered you'll be in no pain and be able to do more, so it's well worth having. You and Fitz can compare notes on how you are both doing. I'm sure it'll be fine and in a few months time you'll be a new woman ;-) ;-) :-D Yes, I'll make sure OH takes the pain killers right and doesn't suffer unnecessarily. How awful for your friend, she must of been at her wits end, hopefully she'll be able to have some sleep now knowing he's okay with mum and dad. i think you're right and she should go and see him in a few days, he'll need time to relax himself, he must of been exhausted, Plymouth to Edinburgh is a heck of a way.
I've just finished watching the first programme of "The Planets" what a fascinating programme. I can't wait to watch the next one. I've ordered the poster online. I was about to watch another programme when Sky stopped working, so I've turned the TV off, but I'm not sure what to do to get Sky back on. I might try turning Sky off and then back on again, to see if that works.

Gill I think that is what they advise you to do. Unless it comes back on its own.
Jane hope all goes well with the pre op, And when you have your nice new hip, hopefully you will soon be exercising more. Daughter's OH had a new hip not long after she started going with him, 2 years ago now. He has just managed to lose a stone in weight. It took a while before he was ready to do more exercise but was soon walking without a stick even not that long after the op. He has been learning to swim for over a year now (he is 65) and that is helping get the weight off.

Ann, I think the lack of mobility has not helped over the last few years ,but I would love to be able to get out and have a good walk with OH.I know swimming is good but I dont do swimming (because I wont wear a swimsuit). That is just me being ridiculous but I have not had a cozzie on for more than 20 years at least !! and I won't be wearing one again :-D. It is coming over really black here now and looks like we could be in for a downpour ,but as often happens it just misses us . Evening all,
It's been really muggy today ,much hotter than yesterday ,we've sat out n the garden this afternoon and just relaxed ,the pool is full and the machine is making the chlorine ,the children came this morning and Chelsea asked when she could go in so i think she's looking forward to going in next weekend , she's going away with the school tomorrow until Wednesday on the Adventure trip ,then Katie goes away with the school the week after .
The garden is looking good Jane . So tomorrow is pre op day ,i hope you are in and out in good time when Colin had his we were there nearly all the morning .
So your both enjoying the hot tub then Mel, i hope your not skinny dipping ;-) :-D :-D although you could as your not really over looked are you .
Oh dear Frank ,I hope things are ok now between you and Jan so you can enjoy the holiday ,it must have been nice to go out with Conrad and see all the sites . A beach front restaurant sounds just right for your Anniversary meal . It's our Anniversary on Wednesday ,43 years for us ,we are going out to lunch with son and DIL .
Lovely photo's Ann , the statues and sculptures look good i should think it would be a bit creepy at night though looking out and seeing the statues of the people in the garden but they are really good . What a view behind the horses head you can see for miles .

I was wondering that to Jane, what Mel wears in the hot tub. ;-) I'm the same as you and don't like wearing a swim suit it's been that long I can't remember the last time I had a cozzie on.
Thanks AnnG for your advice about Sky, I turned it off but it didn't work so I unplugged it in the end which seemed to do the job. I started watching the beginnings of a lot of programmes I recorded which I thought would be good and none of them were, so I've deleted them all now and have lots of space on the hard drive.
The sun has come out now but the wind has got up. OH has just put a new bracket on the fence down the bottom of the garden, I noticed the other day is was moving a bit and when OH checked he said the bracket had broke, so that's fixed now. That's the problem, since we took the garage down, it's very windy in our garden now so that particular piece of fence always gets the brunt of the wind. All we can do is keep an eye on it and fix it if needs be.
