Hello Everyone, What an AWFUL morning it is here!! during the night the rain came down in torrents, and the wind was literally howling. This morning it is as dismal as can be and, of course, raining HARD!! At least the wind has dropped a bit!! Noticed that a couple of tiles have slipped on the roof, and are now resting in the gutter, will have to ring roofing chap to get them fixed before the next onslaught! Must pay Car Insurance today, oh dear, more and more money, and I haven't even started to think about Xmas!! Today I'm going to re-paper the shelves under the kitchen sink, they haven't been done for AGES and look, well, yellow!!!!

Morning All,
Was very busy yesterday cleaning out all the sets of draws to go back into the spare bedroom.
It's not nice here today and very dull and wet. We have finished in the spare room and now OH has started on our bedroom. When he pulled out a set of draws!!!!! well I have never seen so many or such long cobwebs!!! They all went up the old vax.
Today he is taking all our sets of draws out as I type. I dread to think what I have stowed away in there that I have'nt seen for years.
Have to strip the bed now so BBL.

Morning, ladies and all Windy here too ,but dry(so far).I hope it does stay dry as we have a load of logs coming sometime today and O don't fancy trying to stack them inm the wet. I don't think I have ever lined shelves with paper Liz.I know Mum did but I think the shelves and drawers were wood .I seem to recall getting a splinter or too.Good job I didn't get any in my knicks lol
I think we are going to be having major disruption to traffic on the road where I get the dog food.It starts tomorrow so I am off to get supplies in this morning. There is no way I want to get held up in queues of traffic.

Morning my lovelies,
Very windy here, but dry at present.
All this Spring cleaning and it's only November !!!! We are lucky I suppose only having a small bungalow, we can clean through in very little time. Ros has the glass unit out now and again and wash everything, when thy go back and the lights on inside, they sparkle, being that there are lots of crystal. We still have the crystal in the window, that I bought last christmas.
Going out later, might have a bit of lunch at Morrisso#s, very good quality and fairly priced.
Any news on that Owl Jane, or is it still arounf the field. ???? Can't remberber having to line shelves for years. All the kitchen units are plastic, and only need a wipe over. I use to use odd pieces off Wallpaper that matched the kitchen.

Frank I haven't seen the Owl since Sunday.Maybe the bad weather has put it off ,or maybe it has moved somewhere else.I just hope it is safe. I was very disappointed not to hear back from Safewings.I would have thought they could have answered my call. I went past your old house in Orton Rd earlier and that has a fair size extension at the back.

Wow, that was a really horrible job!! Yes Jane , my mother used to line kitchen shelves with newspaper, chest of drawers with pretty paper!! The paper I removed was dated 2006!!!! I also turned out an old tub of vim, date unknown, but clearly vintage! cleaner stuff dating back to heaven only knows when! and sundry other yucky things! what a job! all clean and tidy now though for another 4 years!!! hopefully we shall be in a nice manageable bungelow by then nearer family, then they can come and do it!!! Millie and I went for our usual walk along the river bank, and the river was well up, so had to be careful what with the slippery bank etc. Have rung roofing man and he will come,.......sometime soon?!!! Am interested in this owl; we have a lot of small birds which we feed, and pheasants and collard doves, but I haven't seen an owl. Always a worry when they go off, I worry about our swallows when they go and wait anxiously for their return, there are SO many hazards out there for them, it's a relief to see them again.

Been thinking about the winter coming ,i've been out and stocked up on batteries for the radio in case the electric goes off and a new battery for the gas fire ,it needs a battery for the sparker is that the word ,well the thing that helps it fire up !!! Also going to charge up the torches ,when we have wind our electric goes off so now i'am all ready !!! lol

Afternoon All,
Dry here , but down the road the river was flooded when I walked down there this morning. There is a little park next to it that was under water and a man had just arrived with an Alsatian and a puppy. He picked a stick up and walked through the gate ready to throw it and then saw the floods. The dogs were racing way ahead of him ready to fetch the stick. When he saw how much flooding there was he turned around and went back to his car. The look on the older dog's face was a picture of disbelief. Eventually he realised they weren't staying and such a hang dog look as he reluctantly followed the man. The puppy couldn't care less was enjoying himself tearing about anyway. lol
I usually turn the food cupboards out about now to clear a way for the xmas stuff. I have always used lining paper even on plastic surfaces after some tins of cleaner left rusty marks that wouldn't come off. I have that plastic roll you cut to size on them now.
Mel, is the doll's house getting a spring clean too? You are certainly having a good sort out and decorate......not moving are you?
Mandy, it's awful when you KNOW the dentist will have something to do isn't it. Maybe it is just a nerve pain that will go away. OH is at the hospital tomorrow to have the rest of the root out that broke when he had a tooth out a few weeks ago. He is not looking forward to it at all.
I feel all out of kilter and behind this year with OH at home. I haven't done anything towards xmas yet. lol, lol He is talking about decorating the tree this year!! OMG, if we had a fairy it would be upside down. lol I have warned him that anything that drops on this floor smashes.

Sticky lining paper. Was it called Fablon? That seems to ring a bell.
There was a flood sign on Barton Rd by the river Ise.Frank will know where. We have had no rain so far.I was hoping the logs would have been here by now to start stacking. But if they don't come soon it will be too dark.
Ann I think there a lot of people who seem to be behind in doing things about Xmas.I have still only got my Xmas cards and a new dressing gown for Hannah.I think I am getting a new phone.I did say I would just like a very simple one.But Chris doesn't do simple lol.I just need to be able to make calls ,receive calls and text .Thats it really .
Oh Mandy....just wait till the Dentist taps your tooth with the metal thingy !! Maybe it will just settle down. You don't have a bit of food stuck in there somewhere?
Ann I think I would let him decorate the tree and then when he is out ,put it all right lol
We often get power cuts.So I had better check on our batteries too Mandy. Thanks for reminding me.We always have a stock of candles.I think I may get the fire laid in preparation,as that will be the only heat if power does go off.

Hi All,
Got back quite late yesterday from a really fun weekend. Son-i-law spent nearly £200 on fireworks, he never does anything by halves, so we were standing out in the rain for a couple of hours, with lots of oooo's and aaaahhh's. I think even he was glad when he lit the last one.
Hope we didn't keep you up Jane, we were singing till 4 in the morning, come to think of it, you might have heard us too Ann and Frank ...... bet you thought there were a load of cats out on the tiles that night .....lol
Alfie had a nice little break too, staying with my son, they have four cats, one is a kitten a bit younger than Alfie, and their kitten chased him everywhere and kept pouncing on him, now he knows what it's like because that is exactly what he does to Coco.
He is okay at the moment Mel, no fits, touch wood, and I keep a bandage round his neck so he can't scratch it, so that's healing up too. Comparing him to my son's kitten though you can tell he's not quite right, his reactions are much slower and he doesn't walk normally, he hops like a rabbit up the stairs, and practically tumbles down them.
Thank you Fiona, Frank and Jane for the wonderful photos. Is that where you go for your walks Frank, along the canal. The loch, is that the same as our lake, looks very serene and if I hadn't known I would have said that owl was one of Ann's photos Jane.
