Morning All,
Dry here and quite bright. Took OH to the hospital........total waste of time, queuing to park, one out one in system, sitting around for ages. He had an xray, was told it was an easy straightforward extraction and was sent away to make another appointment for the extraction!!! Why couldn't the dentist have sent an xray of the root, would have saved everyone time and expense!! Liz, OH had a canal root filling once without an injection because he hates injections!! I don't know how he could do that. I couldn't.
Off to B*Q now for a new bulb for the outside light over the back door. 10% off on Weds for us wrinklies. lol Then to the cinema this afternoon to see a scary film.....think it's called something like Let Me In !! lol
I have recorded the Turn Back Time programme last night so looking forward to watching it tonight. BBL

Post just arrived, nothing from the hospital or from neighbours Sols! It's like living under siege here!!! Am off to clear out the airing cupboard, and hang out some washing! Good luck all you hospital and Dentist folk. Have to cut logs this pm Jane to feed our log burner, has to be today as doing it under wet and windy conditions doesn't seem a goer!!!

Good luck with the logs Liz.
Jane I expect you are busy stacking your too.
Still a lovely day here with plenty of the yellow stuff.
I member Fablon. Mum had some with green felt on it that you put on the bottom of chins ornaments and things so they did'nt scratch a polished surface.
Formica too. It always seemed to be red, did'nt it. It must have been an IN colour at that rime.
I have been trying to get a decent size washingup bowl and do you think I can find one anywhere!!!!!!!? No all stupid little piddly things you could'nt even get a dinner plate in. Nor all of us have washing up machines!! Anyway could'nt be bothered to keep putting stuff in it and then taking it out again. By the time it washes I have washed up and put the stuff away anyway.

Busy bees, you lot. Jane, who you calling clever clogs.!!! Not me I hope.
Have been in the garden this morning. In Morriso#s yesterday they had a loverly display of Chrysantemums, ( had to look that spelling up) all potted up and ready for planting. I bought 3, and put them in this morning. Still plenty of flowers on them. Put a bit of colour in the front garden for a while.
Ros has stripped the bed, and thats all washed and on the line, always smells so nice when it's had a blow. Reminds me of Mum. Monday 6am on went the copper, All sheets off beds, pillow cases and anything white. Boiled and rinsed in sinks of Cold water. Summer and Winter. in went the Blue dolly bag. then through the mangle and out on the line. Then all the colours were done. When we came home at 4.pm from school one of us boys would turn the handle on the big mangle, with double rubber roller with the tention on the the big wheel on top, while she feed in the sheets. that were dry and all folded, saved on a lot of ironing, that she would still be doing when we went to bed.!!!! And we say the good old days.Don't know what the woman of today would say.!!!

With my first house 1961. The only things in the kitchen was a sink, cooker and small pantry. A year or so later I decided to build a built in kitchen. Went out and bought all the wood and plywood for the cupboards, and a big sheet of Formica to put on the tops. The Glue came in a big round tin with a scew top, and if you smelt it it would make you light headed (can't think of .name) When finished it looked the bees knees. with built in fridge, cupboards all around the walls. What it would look like, if we were to do it nowdays. Go# only knows. Can you still buy Formica. ????

No Frank, it's me Jane is referring to! after my observations about the Edwardian Shop!!! Hung washing, walked Millie, finished ALL the ironing AND hoovered upstairs, as well as the airing cupboard!! I'm flipping exhausted!!! Does anyone remember putting steel toe and heel caps onto shoes to stop them from wearing out so quickly? OH had them as he was (and is) very hard on shoes, also leather elbows on jackets, again OH had these for the same reason. Suggested it to Mark (son) and he just gave me a funny look!!

How annoying Ann and such a waste of time. All that worrying too. I had a wasted trip to the Cobblers as they are closed until December!!!!!! due to un forseen circumstances.People who have things to collect have to ring a number. So I have to buy some new shoes or see if I have any others that will do.Problem problems.OH has ordered a new suit which will arrive tomorrow.I nearly fainted when I saw how much it was !!!!!!!
I have a feeling we had red formica too ! in the kitchen.Frank you seemed to turn your hands to all sorts.Building your own kitchen. Now I can call you a Clever Clogs too lol. Must make a start on stacking these logs.At least they are perfect size to they need no chopping. Too much close work Mandy like you say.Yoi will be going all cross eyed doing all that Cross Stitch lol

Well that was a job and a half, I've just cleared the garden of leaves, couldn't see the lawn it was covered and there's still more on the tree to come down. I wouldn't have believed one tree could have so many leaves.
They have moved on from the Victorian Farm and it's now the Edwardian Farm, still the same three people. It's in a different area as well

I remember my mum lined her shelves with waxy type paper .I do not have any shelves so no problem. I do have a beam shelf high up with teapots on they need dusting but not good at climbing these days.I remember Fablon my husband got an old table when we first got wed and covered it in Fablon it kind of went bubbly and burnt because of the hot plates and teapot. I could not wait to get a posh table
I did not move my bed Jane because Mel mentioned it. I only noticed Mels comments after so I thought I would mention what I had found when I did move the bed.The bra worried me it was not mine??? The toothpaste well thats my husband he takes it upstairs and dumps it anywhere he proberly put it on the bed and it fell down the back. My fish stick salad was lovely have you never had it Jane from M&S it comes in a box with salad in one corner relish and crab sticks Frank was right and prawns on sticks with thin filo pastry on them and I had some roast crispy potatoes with it that they keep advertising on the television Mary Crocker or something. The lady who does the Yorkshires.I am on a diet so that was just nice I have lost a stone already although slipped back a bit at the week end.
I could not take a picture of Jasper Jane I do not have a camera and I have loads of photoes but do not know how to send scanned pictures only ones that I get from a disc which the family take. Would appreciate any advice.
Fionas pictures have gone in my scrapbook I take that book to my club sometimes so those friends who sent me pictures your famous with the scrapbooking for fun club.
Beryl and I have just had lunch at the pub in Alvechurch and she moaned at the 30 minutes wait .Beryl said to the man behind the bar. Hurry up with the lunch mate I shall end up eating the table number stick. Later he placed in front of me a lovely wooden tray of seafood and warm bread no dinner for Beryl. Her dinner arrived with boiled potatoes not chips . The service was bad she moaned so much they knocked her up steak and chips and she got it free. When going out she said thanks for the lunch try putting the time on your sticks you put on the table not the number and then we can bring sandwiches with us to eat while we wait. I disapeared out the door .I think I will avoid that pub for a while but love the old type beams and pictures. Some lovely pictures of horses and on the way home we saw a pond with some geese all in a long line at least twelve and the children were looking at them not far away.
Well its back to the dreary house now dark after lovely sunshine, lights on. Jasper was good today but he went out for a walk earlier and went running up to a man who bent down to stoke him and he weed up his leg and got a smack off me and had to stay in the kitchen.I am going to cuddle up with Teddy by the fire and read hopefully monster dog will sleep for a while.

That three leged thing is a LAST. My Dad repaired all our shoes. I can see him now, sitting in the kitchen on a stool. He would get the leather from where ever, Soak it in water to make it supple, Put our shoe on the last, get a piece of paper and with his Rasp would go round the shoe. Then lay the template on the leather and draw round it. With a Stanley type knife he would cut the leather and vack it to the sole of the shoe. The last would bend over the nails, so they wouldn't stick in your feet Then he would put "BLAKIES" all round the toes and on the heels of the shoe. He would rasp of all the edges round the sole and heel, and paint with a black stuff to finish them off. When he did Mums she would complain that they were like "HOB NAIL BOOTS"
Liz, I assumed it was me she was refering to. As she always gets onto me.!!!!
Been very good here today, sun and wind. NO RAIN YET. Got all the washing dried.
Have made some Mince pies this afternoon, and Ros has iced the Christmas Cake. it looks good enough to eat !!!!

Oh dear Mel, sorry to hear that you have to have an X Ray; A lot of us seem to be in the wars lately, is it 'old age'? or just 'fair wear and tear'!!! My goodness I've just seen the weather forecast, battening down the hatches is the order of the day!! the wind looks as though it will be quite horrendous!! Did loads of logs, now feel completely shattered!!! Shepherds Pie for supper, did it this am so is in the oven ready when we are!. Told OH that Victorian Farm was coming back tonight; "No" said OH "it's Edwardian Farm": I argued the toss! but SADLY it appears that he is right, growl !!! Anyway we shall both enjoy it which is the main thing!! Mel, your supper sounds nice, in fact quite yummy!!! Frank, you and Ros are certainly getting well ahead in your Xmas preps, making me feel guilty, (and jealous!!)

Not far from Moor Farm roundabout where the Spine Road meets the A19 there is just off the road Croft Animal Hospital. It's enormous.
I think what happens is that people take their pets to their vet.The Vet decides what proceedures need doing. They then send the pet to Croft Animal Hospital who perform the proceedure. The local vet can see more "patients" and the animal hospital can take care of the pet's surgical needs on a wholesale basis.
This is good business for the hospital and the local vet.Should a vet tell the pets owner if they intend giving surgical proceedures to a third party?

I think I would rather my vet I knew did anything that needed doing to my dog because I thrust this vet David but that is just my opinion . I am sure it may work fine.
My Jasper seems to have learnt his lesson he his now good just shared some chicken with Teddy. It has been suggested Jasper is jealous of Teddy and thats is why he is naughty and now Teddies owner does not want the dog back so I do not know what to do. This lady was pulled over by Teddy and now she is nervous of him. I do not think I could now let the poor dog be put down or go to another home he is a sweet dog. Brings a problem for me .

It feels very wintry with all this talk of chopping and stacking logs, getting spare batteries, mince pies (just had to change this....put mice pies at first!) and icing the xmas cake.
Tried to see if it was just a fuse gone on my car before I shell out all those pennies tomorrow. What a silly fusebox!! The fuses are out of reach and you have to use a provided tool (feeble plastic tweezers) to get them out. Needless to say the pesky tool kept slipping off so we gave up!! I'm turning into Victor Meldrew today. lol
We weren't in the mood for the cinema today, so we took my 'early' xmas present from OH (camera) and went deer stalking in that park again. lol Called in a garden centre on the way back (Wyevale Frank) and had a nice meal, chicken fricassee.
We called at a new Pets at H*me store near us on the way back. I got a lovely snap of a heap of Degus sitting in a pile 3 high but need to get a card reader before I can send the pic as it was on my mobile.
Going to watch the Edwardian Farm later that Maureen and others mentioned.

You missed your look alike then Ann x but how strange she was she told a story about her dog swallowing her panties and later the dog went to the toilet and out came the panties retrieved by her son. Weird I thought I saw the repeat Loose women show not long ago. Maureen said she is so proud of cleaning up after her dog she told her daughter in law about not cleaning up after the dog and drove round until she came to the place the dog had toileted and got it up. She claimed her fans thought she was mad cleaning up after her dog in a well known London area. I clean up after my dogs but not that bothered if I miss a few you never what dogs intend to do.
I shall watch Edwardian Farm. Sorry you have to have an exray Mel.

Sheila ,it would be nice for Jasper and Teddy to get on.Don't give Teddy more cuddles than Jasper!!!!!! Snuggle them together (if that's possible ) lol.Naughty Jasper weeing up someones leg !!! Hannah is home now after her last day at work.Big bouquet of flowers ,chocs, necklace and cards with lovely comments. She was given a bag of Cheesy Wotsits by a patient as a present .I thought that was lovely considering the Brain Damage her patients have.I think she has had lots of lumps in her throat today. The best message in a card was from her Boss the Psychologist ...He said "You are not allowed to leave"lol
