Shirl so sorry to hear the news about son. I do hope there is something that can be done.

Frank Jane did'nt buy the sprouts. I think Chris did!!! Jane probably knows better from experience.

Hi All
What a horrible wet day it has been and still is.
Just got back from taking dad out for a ride in the car to the garden centre, seemingly we had arrived at a good time at the care home dad had been paceing back and forwards wanting to go out and the staff kept haveing to tell him it was to wet to go for a walk, so we showed up and took him out for a couple of hours, and gave them some peace. He won't remember he was out but at least he had a changed of scenery for a bit.

off to do some ironing. Sofia not so well her tempreture is up again, and she's very moany all the time so we won't see them for dinner tonight.

Hey David you keep doing your Doon I think it is great. There have been other words that you have said in a different way(can't remember what they were now).We know what you mean lol
I can't help with your tree stuff as I don't know what I am doing myself lol.Hopefully I will work out how to do things one day.

Fiona, even though your Dad won't remember going for a drive,at least you know he enjoyed his outing.(at the time).Oh it brings back memories of me driving all the way to Plymouth to see Mum and take her out,and she remembered nothing.I used to think is it worth me going all that way ,paying for a hotel ,petrol, etc. But yes,it was .Because she was my Mum.

Broad Georie is unintelligible to people who are unfamiliar with it it.
Could sound Norwegian or Japanese.
Example,Hoyme hammer ower here.Ie pass my hammer.

The dialect varies within a few miles.
Bedlington doesn't soond like Ashington and Ashinton soonds nowt like Sunderland.
Communication.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Oct 2010 18:18

Gosh David it now has most of the rellies Hidden so I can't see what you have duplicated.

If you have all this info on file I should delete the tree and start again. But remember to click on the box and not keep putting in the name of a mother for a child.

Jane Report 2 Oct 2010 18:27

David I remember a few years ago when we were on holiday in Majorca and made friends with a couple from Newcastle.I had to say "can you say that again" after everything they said lol.Even then when they repeated what they said I still didn't understand it all .
All of us on this thread will have different accents !!!.I never think I have an accent at all ,but sometimes I do come out with a Devonshire Burr.
I remember the post that Mel put up one day with proper Devon Speak lolol

Mel do you still have that??

Jane I have sent you a PM.

Fiona

Fiona Report 2 Oct 2010 18:44

Hi Jane
Yes your right I think the same way is it worth it. taking dad out is not easy on my own I have only done it once and was wacked.
OH is good he had more patience than me. as I am on edge incase dad wanders away out of sight or knocks things over. He stops and talks to all the children, which sometimes parents are not happy about . but OH takes him to look at something else while I go and look at the crafts or toiletries , candles etc. and thankfully dad will go to the toilet with OH because he is not comfortable with public toilets gets confused which one to use, OH justs puts him in one and shuts the door.

I am wearsider and not a Gordie ,
I used to find it difficult to understand the men who dad used to work with in the shipyards David ,Dad was a patternmaker in Dockfords, and also worked for ColesCranes, Because my family didn't speak with a real broad Sunderland accent we were thought as the posh folks that came from whitburn and later on Seaburn. My mum was from Scotland so My accent was different than the other kids, I got picked on a school for saying Mum instead of me mam

my favourite songs from home were
The Lambton Worm
Cushie Butterfield
Dance ti thy Daddy

What an awful day I had today some very angry phone calls
friends and family all giving opinions of Matts funeral.

Matts mother refuses to pay one penny towards her sons funeral also his dad. It seems they want him cremated so it is all done with and Jessica wants her husband buried so she can go and take flowers and feel close to him.
Matt loves flowers she said and I want flowers all over the
church and coffin. And I have picked out the spot for him
overlooking his favourite valley
Mates friends are surporting her we sent a big cheque we could ill afford to pay for anything she wants for Matts funeral. He deserves better people sometimes are really
the pits so much arguement over someone whoes died in such a cruel way.How can he rest in peace when everyone is arguing.

Well my soapy soup was well mentioned it seemed my ho had soapy soup the real kind he washed up a saucepan he squibs in the washing up liquid gives it a quick rinse under the tap and thats it. His tomato and Rice soup came out into the dish looking very nice until he tasted it and he rushed to the tap for water. When he turned the tap on to swill it out it went very bubbly.I had a giggle behind my newspaper.

I am always up late sat on my own .
We go to Wales on Monday until Friday .The funeral is Thursday.I hope I get through it without crying I feel like a cuddle but do not get any plenty of agro but thats a mums lot I guess.
Maureen thank you for your e mail will contact you I took your advice on board and yours Jane.

April came home from Beryls wearing a lovely floppy pink hat with fruit on it and about four string of beads round her neck . I said April did you have a nice time and she said yes auntie Beryl is funny she calls Donnie droopy draws.I
rushed April up the stairs for a bath I hope she does
not say that in Wales the people up there are a bit narrow minded although very nice some of them.

Does David live anywhere near where they filmed Where The Boat Comes in I loved that. You will have a fishy in a little dishy . I hope Shirls son will be alright she is such a nice lady shes been very surportive with her messages to me.
I remember I had some explaining to do about the scrag end message but ho was ok when he saw it. said is that it does not look very big to me. !!!

Morning,

It's dull and wet here and has been raining steadily most of the night.

Jane mentioned the story I put on here a while ago. I never did finish it!! It takes so long to type out but will put it back on here the bit I had done.
