Hi Elizabeth I could cry when I think of all that money that those people stole from you and I hope they catch them some people really are the pits I hope your husband will be ok also. I have just had to make Shepherds pie is there someone out there that can tell me what I do wrong with my mince its gone lumpy did I cook it too fast or something. I am not having any
although I love it .

Oh goshI I will have to learn more about growing produce. Annie grows all kinds of things and here is me hopeless .I did get a taste for salad and more green veg while with Annie.I think I eat far to much rubbish. How do you all manage so well I do not seem to have time here to do much always doing something in that shop.Would prefere to be out of doors gardening and to have beans and tomatoes. I think Frank is cute growing tomatoes and going round hanging them on front doors the only thing anyone would hang on our front door is something to break in with.

Elizabeth but very interesting love to know more if you find anything .It would be worrying if it was slaves
People did suffer in those days that were poor no dole or anything. 92 is a good age for those days though she must have been strong to survive some people are . I think I shall go soon !! did anyone watch loose women I recorded some of it and Cilla Black was on and said 75 was the age she thought people should die. Linda Gray
was on who was JRs wife and she is 70 and said that gives me five years. it would give me 4 .I must admit
Linda Gray looked fab for her age but the neck and the hands give age away mine are the same.

Jane you may have replied who knows who may have been on aol while I was away.
I never got a picture of Catie my elder daughter just said shes a pretty girl .

Hi Shirl back from Annies .Annie is back to work next week shes landscaping some Earls garden in Suffolk going down to stay for a few months in his house. Do not know more than that for someone who only started it a few years ago after Marcus died and she lost the baby she done well. Annie was pregnant late in life and she did say to me when her husband died she thought about killing herself but did not have the courage. So sad really. Such a lovely lady. I shall miss Annie. Glad your back on here Shirl it was only me with my bad grammer and spelling I used to laugh at my threads and yours just love your scot lingo. I sometimes have a laugh at the threads but mostly find them very interesting.

Catie, lucky old you having such interesting ancestors. At least Catherine Parr outlived old Henry. I have lost interest in my family tree since my mum died, used to go and share lots of information with her which she didn't know about. I expect I shall pick it up again though.

Might look up that author Frank, I like stories about the Eastend as mum's family were all from there.

Sheila Report 26 Sep 2010 18:55

Maureen when Frank sends the book will send it you if you
like .Did you find the book I mentioned .

I had a uncle who lived in the East end of London and I loved going to visit ,the people were really friendly and so kind and my mum said she wished she lived there . I am wondering why there is Katherine and Catherine are they the same people. Maureen how is Alfie .Annie and I found a starving cat and nobody would take it in it was running between three or four cottages in the area looking for food and was so thin when we fed it the poor cat threw up and
lay shivering by the fire. I could not have it having Jasper and Annie was going away so I bought it home and took it to the Catery this morning. Not everybody is like you. Elizabeth does not need to feel guilt aboput anything the times I have done silly things and got ripped off. Mostly with videos they have come second hand and been rubbish my husband banned me from sending for old movies. Anyway nite nite.

Yes, thank you Sheila, let me know and I will e.mail my address to you. Sorry, remind me again the title of that Maureen Lee book.

Good job I don't live near you Sheila, I would probably have four cats now !!!!!

Sheila.... Some historians say Catherine Parr and others Katherine Parr. Not sure that anyone is 100% sure. Katherine's mother was Maud Green and my greatgranmother x15 was Anne Green, Maud's sister. That makes Katherine my first cousin. So that's where the link is. There is a lady on this site whose OH shares this line. It follows back from the Legh family of Lyme Park. The lady on this site wrote to a historian at the National Trust and the line was confirmed.

Sheila Report 26 Sep 2010 19:43

Will e mail you. I found one cat at the back on a tip scratching around madly took that to Weoley Castle sanctuary another on our garden took that to a catery down the road. Found one cat and put a notice on a door that was not lost just hanging around in our shop looking for mice I think .Then yesterday tiddles turned up we called him that me and Annie and he is in the catery. We have some very bad animal owners round here most people let out the cats and either move or just want to get rid of them.
I know I refere to you because it was nice of you to take in Alfie. sorry if I repeat myself. well I will just go and sort out my mincy shepherds pie and hope it comes out ok. Lots of xmas stuff to do now so wont be on here anymore for while
Hope Mel your mum is ok. I have told a Cheryl Eastern about Catie because she is tracing relatives of a Catherine Parr.I sent her a e mail. I will ask Catie about
her and the two diffrences in name it is interesting

Annie is working for Michael howard 21st Earl of Suffolk
just had a phone call asking did I get home ok with the cat.
she gave me £15 to give to whoever took it in. I hope it does not belong to anybody in Stratford it seemed starved. have a nice week everyone.

Evening All,

And Whoopee!! Frank has joined Shirl and me as Andre Rieu fans then!! I was watching him too last night....fantastic as usual. I have recorded 3 of his concerts now. Frank where were you when I started banging on about him in the spring when he was on Alan Titchmarsh's show......you weren't paying attention!! It is him I was going to see in Birmingham last week, but he wasn't well......can't wait till he reschedules. Google him and watch him with 3 year old Akim Camara playing the violin......delightful.

Catie, first Fitz and now you with such interesting and rich ancestors. I haven't found anyone really rich in my tree yet. My latest find has been to do with a rellie transported to Australia......the other end of the scale!! He was a descendant of my 6 x Gt Grandfather's brother. Seems his crime was highway robbery at age 18. In Australia he married an Irish woman who was transported for stealing a cloak. Next thing at age 47 in Australia he was up before the court and got 6 months gaol for maliciously stabbing his wife!! This same wife was later killed crossing the road on her way home from the pub with some of her sons. Three prisoners on horseback mowed her down and she fractured her skull. No apparently she wasn't drunk.

This is a report of what happened to one of his 10 children. Taken from "News from the Interior" Windsor June 20 1848 - Caution to Parents. Yesterday, an inquest was held at Richmond, by J Dowe Esq coroner of the district, on the body of a child, aged fourteen months, the particulars of which are as follows: Some time of the day on the 17th, the child was out in one of the adjoining paddocks, under the care of a little girl, and unfortunately got hold of some branches of the thorny apple: Daturusstramonium a quantity of the little black seeds of which it swallowed. No notice was taken of this circumstance, and in a short time afterwards the child was seen as if dragging the right leg after it, with the toes turned inwards, to which complete paralysis of the lower extremities supervened: Violent delerium, with a convulsions, were added and before eight hours death had closed the poor childs sufferings. The father of the the child, by name ****** a tailor, applied to the Rev Mr Elder to bury the child, but which Mr Elder very properly refused to consent to, without an authority from the Coroner; Dr Whitaker made a post mortem examination, and found a great quantity of the black seeds lodged in the small intestines, into which they had passed without undergoing any of the ordinary changes by the process of digestion. So in accordance with the medical evidence the Jury brought in a verdict of "Accidental death caused by the swallowing of poisonous seeds"

Annx, I can't believe that I enjoyed it so much.We both sat there enthralled by the music and the setting. Why it it that people in Europe can enjoy themselves so much, with this type of entertainment. Yet in Britain, it seems to be looked down on as being below most people. Our streets, market squares just don't seem right for it.

Shelia, I don't know why your son should be annoyed with me. The way I conduct my buiseness, is purely my own business, and is not open for other people to say how I should behave. SORRY.

Sheila ,good for you taking poor little puss to the cattery.I hope they can fatten it up a bit and find a good home.,and all the other ones too.I get so cross with people who do not care for their pets properly.

I had a fancy for a boiled egg just now .It was lovely ,with soldiers too.
I am going to try and get an early night .I may even take up a mug of hot chocolate.Haven't done that in years.
So I am switching off for tonight. Will try and pop in before I leave for Jenny's Funeral .
Nightie Night xx

Oh please my son works in a prison Frank and I told him that you were trying to help Elizabeth he purely said that you should be careful after all it is people like my son Frank that is looking after these crooks so please do not knock him he was just quoting a fact and I object to that comment he was put on a section where a man did a similar thing tried to trap someone who was conning people and the poor guy ended up doing two years my son is not allowed to discuss cases so do not know all the details but he said just warn Frank to be careful. I think it is time I did not stay on here I am fed up of rude comments and offending poeple gosh you all say things to each other
and knock at me sometimes I dont take offence I just
bounce back thats what the ladies have been telling me.

My poor son works all the hours god sends looking after the prisoners and he feels really sorry for that person and was just saying be careful cheques can bounce all kind of con artists are about .You must read about people who try to help when people get attacked and they end up in prison
also. If you wish to do what you said do it I will pass your comments to my son. Do you knpw I was really looking forward to coming on this site again but that is the second snub tonight so thanks v ery much.

Catie thank you for answering my question I was just confused because I knew Catherine Parr but have had very few details of your relatives and family being away and just wondered why the lady I was chatting to on line was |Catherine and there was Katherine I know the link of Lyme Park it sound really interesting would love to know more if you find anything. I seem to have come to a standstill now with the family I have discovered I think this man who is visiting me is the last my grandad and his brother argued over money and they never spoke and I could not believe when I got a lady who said she thought her father was related to me and
it was the family of my grandad and my grandad had been the missing link in the family tree for years . I Remember the day the first relative came and he told me how he had ridden horses at my
great grandads farm and had a wonderful time they thought the world of him and I missed out on all that and felt really sad.

Are you able now to trace any further from this information.

Thanks for explaining Catie

Have you heard of a voilinist called Charles Siem he went to Girton college Cambridge and I understand is in Moscow with
a philamonmic orchestra . I ask because we have some students in a house next door renting rooms this term from the University and one them is a friend he wanted to know where the library was tonight and we got talking. He showed me a picture of Charles and he was a really handsome guy and very talented .You being young and traveling in a orchestra playing your voilin at times I wondered if you had met him. anyway nite nite now tapped in a lot today. I have felt a bit sad today I had such a lovely time in Stratford
I am having a job settling today. So came on the site. nite Catie
have a nice day tomorrow.

Frank don't you dare leave this thread!!

Mum was a bit better yesterday. she had a glass of water in the morning and a little porridge. then some mushroom soup, a cup of tea and a biscuit. Later a bit of tangerine jelly and more water. I think that was the most she had eaten for a week. Some orange juice too.

Sorry to hear that little Sophia is not to good Fiona. Give her a nice ((hug)) from aunty Mel please.

Just take the comments with a pinch of salt. I think sometimes you take things the wrong way love. We are all good friends on here and this is the place to relieve ourselves of the things that worry us in all ways.

It's just good to say things and get it off our chests.

Good Morning Everyone,

Jane .... I wanted to come on earlier to give my support. Sorry I was unable to do so - Health Visitor called out of the blue. My thoughts have been with you and and I hope Jenny's husband will be able to draw on the support and friendship of those close to him. Such a sad day for you all.

Mel... So pleased to hear that your mum has managed to eat a bit more. That's really good news.

Fiona.... Hope Sophia is a little better today. I'm sure your daughter really appreciates your help.

Sheila... Charles Siem is really making his mark in the classical world. Our paths haven't crossed though.
The reason I think it is Katherine and not Catherine, is because of a document which had a signature. It was only a photo copy, but it looked like it was Katherine. Might be quite wrong of course.
The Legh family are well documented Sheila and so the tree goes right back. I'm back to the battle of Agincourt with this line. My greatgrandfather x goodness knows was wounded and his beloved Mastiff (who he had taken into battle) guarded him. Both the dog and body were brought back to Lyme. There are so many stories, I could whittle on all day... but don't want to be chased off the thread lollol Everyone would dread my name appearing lol

Ann... What an interesting find. It's stories like that which keep me searching. My father's family are toffs lol. My mother's tree is quite different. I have found Shoemakers, tailors, miners etc ... They were all probably working for my father's family lol However, as my dad always says, ''we are all just cogs in a wheel and not one person is more important than another'' - that's my philosophy too.

Well, I had better tend to my duties... A woman's work is never done lol

Agent came this am and house is now on the market!!! Going out on Wed to look at a place in Gloucestershire! All a bit scary really, as we've lived here for 11 years and in Somerset for 18! Still having made up our minds we are now 'going for it'! Not telling anyone yet in case it all falls flat, but at least it's making OH clear up outside!!! Got a letter from the hospital this am referring to OH as a pleasant 70 year old gentleman!!!!! blimey, I remember his 21st birthday! How time flys!! they clearly don't live with him! No, guys, only joking! I have NO toffs at all in my family tree, my paternal family is full of agricultural workers and bricklayers etc. The nearest I get to toffiness is my Great great Grandfather, who owned Drayton Manor in the 1840's and had 200 acres and several servants indoors and out! Apart from that,I have a Fellmonger, Parchment maker,Clothier and Schoolmaster. I suppose the last two are OK, but no grand background anywhere to be seen!! I even go back to Ireland, which I must explore soon, be quite a challenge I should think!
