Sorry I shouldn't have been so hasty I do think it should be banned from public spaces where there are non-smokers! But I wished there wasn't the personal attacks that sometimes accompany views of non-smokers!! Kaz :o) A smoker

Kaz. I have just read your post.Even in public streets/roads there are people who don't smoke. But I won't stop smoking in the street or outside where I work. I must admit I won't stand in a bus shelter when I smoke because I know there will be people who aren't smokers. Now if all non smokers were as considerate as that there would be no need for all this whoo har on here. Sue

As someone who gave up 6 years l month and 12 days ago, but who's counting lol, I will sign your petition Paul. As someone who lives in the 'Smoke' I fear for all children in inner cities breathing in the contaminated air from petrol and diesel fumes. When the Government ban cars, lorries, buses etc., then I will sign a petition for smoking to be banned. Jean x.

Yes, I'll sign that one Paul. It gets now that one feels guilty lighting up at all. They are bad for us... we all know that but to ban smoking in the open air as well as all the other places is taking away OUR civil rights! Jacquie xxxxxx (who would like to give up again but has too much trauma at present to do so!)

As one who smoked her last cigarette on 1 Sept I defend the right to freedom. Our rights have been and are being eroded through Europe and the Labour Gov. We all laughed at George Orwell - it has turned out to be much worse. Ann

AnninGlos Report 13 Feb 2006 09:37

I don't have any quarrels with those who smoke in the open air as long as a) they don't blow the smoke in my face as I walk past (and it happens frequently in town) or b) they don't disgard their cigarette butts on the ground. It looks horrible outside businesses etc when there are piles of cigarette ends. and these are probably sensible people who would complain if they saw a young lad throw a sweet wrapper on the floor. The other week I was in Hobbycraft there were not many people in there and I could tell when one lady was coming close behind me because I could smell her. She smelt so strongly of cigarette smoke. Ugh!!! I just wondered what her house smelt like. Ann Glos

I would sign!! If i have to stop smoking in the open air!! then how about we ban spitting in the street, drunks being sick in the street, people who still let their dogs foul the pavement, loud music coming out of passing cars, to name a few of the things i find very offensive Love Helenxx the happy smoker!!
