Morning Everyone,

A welcome bit of cooler breeze here too. Sounds as if everyone is going to be busy and eating well! We are having a Morr*sons lunch today and either going on to a bird reserve on some wetlands near Melton Mowbray or Rempton Steam and craft fair depending how hot it is by then. If its very hot I'll give the Steam fair a miss as there won't be any shade and the tents will be boiling.

Jane I have thought about getting one of those little pools myself......a quick cooler for the feet and to sit in......oops the water would all come out!! lol Will Chester be in it?

The last match tonight...........be nice to get back to the usual TV.

Have a nice day everyone..........

Afternoon all,

Everything ready for when they get here. I only realised an hour ago, I had a Side of Ribs in BBQ sauce in the outside fridge also a Roast pork joint. They are in the oven as we speak.

The cat thinks he's left out, during the night he tried but didn't succeed in getting at the Turkey, It was covered in about 10 wraps of Kitchen Foil, but it was scratched.

Glad everyone is having their own sort of day, ENJOY IT

Was at Blyth market yesterday.
Bought a good selection of fruits and tomatoes for £6
included a large bag of mushrooms.
Also bought a complete set of encyclopaedeas for the princely sum of £4
Will probably give those to Ralph.

Doctors tomorrow morning.

Well, we decided on the wetland reserve,on the edge of a pretty village called Kirby Bellars. A nice gentle walk past cottages with lovely gardens, then down a narrow lane completely shaded by big trees and then across a meadow to the Priory Reserve lakes. There were ponies in the meadow and dozens of those bright blue mayflies? There are little islands on the lakes and a narrow tree lined path and boardwalk across the middle. Very quiet and restful.

Mandy that is not a bad idea at all. I could put it on the patio on an old blanket......and no-one would see me!! lol Shirl, you are right, who cares anyway!!!! lol

I have sent you all a piccie of a garden beastie I found on the rhubarb this morning and wonder if anyone knows what it will turn into.

Also sent a piccie of the church, but the heat has got to me and I put it is at Kirkby Mallory instead of Kirby Bellars!!! lol

We've had another really lovely day with the little ones in the pool ,the water is so warm now ,its a shame the weather is now going to change ,but we badly need the rain .

The little ones had fun ,i found a boat ,just big enough for them both to sit in ,i think it was one we bought when we went to Turkey a couple of years ago ,i've been pulling them round and round the pool, every time i stop its do it again Nanny.

I've been trying to float too !!! Son says ....come on mother if the little ones can do it so can you !!!

When we had the Barbeque we were plagued with Wasps , we had to eat indoors in the end ,it was the first time this year that we've had that trouble.
Ann, is there anyway you can keep an eye on your Garden Beastie or has he crawled away ,will be interesting to see what he turns into,Jake thinks you should call it Custard as it was on the rhubarb LOL
Nice picture of the pretty little Church Ann .

We have had loads of wasps too .Not had any before today. My niece speared one with her fork when it landed on her plate. She was worried it was too near Amelia.

I think I found it..............I was a bit concerned in case it was one of those dangerous sort that can shed lots of hairs and cause health problems. It looks like a a Orgya antiqua Linnaeus - Rusty Tussock Moth, Vapourer Moth caterpillar. Strangely they feed on fruit trees and shrubs.....no mention of rhubarb. lol Clever Jake thinking of Custard!! The males are unusual in that they fly in the day and the females have no wings!

It was still sitting on the same leaf when I got home, sunning itself. I wonder if it crawled off a new shrub in a pot I bought a few days ago.

The children in the boat made me think of Hawaii 5 0 Mandy!! Your garden must seem so exiting for them!!

Finn and Chester sound like they were made for each other Jane......both full of beans. lol

I haven't read all the entries but wish to say I remember the freedom to explore, we used to climb into/downto and up to bombed buildings and pretend to be shooting german planes, we walked along the canals which our parents had forbidden.
I remember the Rag and Bone Man and how we used to beg mum for something to give him so we could get a goldfish.....one day she said there is an old jacket of your fathers in the hall so I grabed it ran down the road and brought back with great pride two goldfish,
Dad got ready to go on hiis night shift and let aout a YELL that the street must have heard...Yes you have guessed It, I had given the rag man the wrong Jacket...I leave you all to guess the rest

Amelia's so cute Jane and who put poor old Chester under the pool ,or did he get under himself?LOL
You and your sister are so alike Jane, i had to look to see which one was you !!
I see what you mean about your OH creating a dust storm with your lawn it does look dry .
Just been out and watered although we should get rain during the night and tomorrow morning .
Hubby wanted to top the pool up but he's going to wait and see how much rain we get first .

Fiona

Fiona Report 11 Jul 2010 21:13

Hi Bridget,
Keep the memories coming please.
Glad you found out what kind of catterpiller it was Ann, the hairs made it look more creepy than the normal kind.

OH been in the garden most of the day and has cleared a way most of our heather at the front which has died , we have been in this house now for nearly 21 years and every year we have had a fantastic display of heather but this year it looked really bad OH thinks the really cold winter we had in 2009 has killed it off
so he decided it was time to pull it out , there are a few sprigs left we will wait to see if they spread and cover the ground if not it's another trip to the garden centre to buy some plants to put in it's place

Thanks Jane for the pics of Amelia, she looks very calm & comfortable snoozing in her buggy, and you and your sister are really very much alike.I'm off for a bath now so I will say goodnight catch up tomorrow.

Jane

Jane Report 11 Jul 2010 21:31

Mandy, you say Janice and I are alike ......we are both adopted .I was from Scotland ,she was from Exeter lol .So many people say "I can tell you are sisters " lol.I think it is nice.
When we went to see Mel her Mum could not believe we weren't birth sisters.
I see Fiona ,you think the same!!!!.We are actually really different .I think we were just meant to be sisters .
It was Finn who put Chester under the paddling pool.It was so funny as he was travelling all around the lawn and we could just see his feet lol
