I thought for a minute I was going mad Mel. I read your post and had this sense of deja vu so I had to go back and check. You did post it earlier today at 12.19 :-D

:-D senior moment Mel.

It was great to see my friend, we sat on the patio and the sun was lovely we chatted for two hours and yes she had a good look round the garden. After lunch I pottered a bit out there and then sat out there reading for a while.

Lovely to have company AnnG. I am pleased you were able to spend some time with your friend. I can’t wait to do the same. I was hoping we might have friends for coffee on one of the Easter days but it looks as though it is going to be a bit chilly for sitting outside.

Our jabs went well today. Our appointment was 2.14. We were a few minutes early and expected to wait outside but were taken straight through, records checked, questions asked, my jab was timed at 2.10, OH’s at 2.11, we then waited till 2.25 and then could go. The injection was a little more uncomfortable this time and we both have an aching arm but so far nothing worse.

Tomorrow morning it’s the dentist for both of us. Not looking forward to that much though it’s only a check up .

I hope tonight’s a good night for us all.

Annx Report 31 Mar 2021 21:53

I've planted my cue and courgette seeds and some salad leaves seeds today. I left the pruning as yesterday's effort seems to have brought on that pain in my back under the shoulder blade. It's from bending over and across that does it. Nuisance as it even hurts to breathe with it. It may be ok to do a bit of the higher up pruning tomorrow. OH has fixed the gutter pipe back on the greenhouse and needs to get behind the water butt tomorrow to fix a sheet of plastic glass back in the greenhouse. He's also fixed a wire drop down shelf back in there so I can use it. It's the only shelf the mice can't get to!

Mandy I had a smile at the mention of Mel's 'bloomers'. lol Come to think of it my grandma was wearing voluminous ones by the time she was my age also those Norah Batty stockings. She never went out without a hat with fancy hatpins holding it in place and always had a hairnet holding her curls in place. She always smelled of lavender or eau de cologne too.

I bet your chat with your friend was a real pick me up for you AnnG, especially as it has been a nice day.

That's good you have had your 2nd jabs Vera and good luck with your dental checkup tomorrow. I want to book a checkup once I've had my second jab. The dentist contacted OH for his, but they haven't contacted me and it is 6 months overdue now.

Better get to bed now. Did I mention that the SKY Q box has stopped recording now and we can't access the old recordings either? It has also been making odd noises for a few weeks so as soon as they have switched our broadband over we'll have to get a sky engineer out. I suspect it will mean a new box.

Ouch ann that high back pain is not nice, If you think about it it is the action of your arms reflected across your back. Best leave the pruning a couple of days or get OH to do it (under supervision of course). You were busy planting seeds, I did scatter some more wild flower seeds but they are just thrown outdoors. Have still got some cornflowers to sew outdoors. and nasturtiums, although they don't seem to like this garden very much.

Vera and Ann, yes it was a tonic to be able to have a proper natter in the garden instead of a few words on the doorstep.

Vera pleased all went well with your jab. And hope you don't have any side effects.

Forgot to say good morning although I have been up and about for over an hour. Quite grey here this morning but 8 degrees outside so not too cold. I guess it is going to be one of our half misty type days.

Morning All,

Slept well but no sunshine this morning! Mrs O had an early delivery by a very noisy and big van. I had a peep through the window in case it was for us, but no as they wheeled a tall cardboard box up her drive.

We are off to the chemist and to see if there are any banks left in the next village now a second one is closing.

The back seems a bit easier today AnnG so I can at least get on with more seed planting, runners and French beans and some nasturtiums I saved. I hope you can get some seeds planted too.

April fools Day today!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Apr 2021 11:32

Morning all just,

Pionch and a punch for the first of the month and April fools day too. Watch what your about today incase you get fooled!! :-D :-) :-D :-) :-D :-)

Sky here is pale grey and its quite bright but not as nice as yesterday but its not cold and thats the main thing.

If it stays nice I shall do another little stint on the border this afternoon as I only managed to dig a small patch yesterday with the getting out g the twitch and brimbles and self sown loganberries. It was also the ground under where oh cut down the huge fushia and I hav'nt been able to dig under it for years and it root go everywhere. I am begining to wish I had,nt put it up there is the first place but its flowers are so dainty like little ballerinas in pale pink tutu's. I gave him a cutting off it to put over the west wall but he just mows past that one. he deer like eating it too. and the bees love it when its in flower.

Vera its good your jabs are all done now and you will feel safer to go out anywhere now. Not heard anything about when my second one will be yet. Hope the arm is not tooo achey.

Anng I see you had a lovely time and a good natter with your friend which must have cheered you up seeing a friend after so long apart. Lots to catch up on and different company too, makes a lot of difference to the way you feel.

The suns sort of out now and its not at all cold.

Better get on as I did'nt wake till very late.

Frank Report 1 Apr 2021 11:35

Good morning to you all,

What an eventful day I had yesterday. I tried to dig up a plant in the garden that had died. I got pains in my chest so came indoors. They continued so I rang 999 for an ambulance. It arrived within 5 minutes, flowered by Ros and Carolyn. (back from shopping) The Ambulance medics check me over and did an ECG, Thy thought it was best that I went with them to hospital for further checks. Got to A & E and they did another ECG and took bloods. It was well after 5.00 pm when they said they were doing more blood checks, and if all was well I could ring Ros, and get a lift home. They gave me the all clear, and they rang Ros. The porter took me to the main entrance and waited until Ros arrived, and bought me home.

I had a comfortable nights sleep, with no ill effects this morning. I have been sitting quite, and am just going into the conservatory to read my book.

As I can't take Ros out for a mealier Easter, I ordered her a massive Bouquet of
flowers, which arrived at 10.30 the morning. She is over the moon. So I have learnt some BROWNIE POINTS.

Trust you are all well, will try to pop back later. xxxx

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 1 Apr 2021 11:53

Did they say what the pains were Frank, strain from trying to dig the plant out? I expect it was a shock for Ros to find the ambulance there when she got home. maybe you should not attempt things like that when you are on your own do you think?

Ann, I intend going outside in a minute and planting the cornflowers. I did wander around the garden for a while just looking to see what needs doing so have an idea what I need too do now. Trouble is these seeds won't germinate for a while as it is supposed to be cold next week but I don't want to plant them inside and have to transplant them when they can be planted in the ground.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Apr 2021 14:51

Anng if its cornflowers they are pretty hardy so I would go ahead and scatter some and let them take their chance. I'm sure they will be ok.

I hav'nt scattered your poppy seeds you sent me yet so I may do that today while I am up the border. Just have to wash up first and then I am off.

Sorry to hear you had a pain Frank. Its best not to do things like that when Ros is out. You hav'nt done much strenuous work in the garden for a long while now so maybe just a bit of a strain on the old chest muscles. Take care and rest up with your book.

We have a cold wind today but sunshine even though the sky is still light grey.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 1 Apr 2021 15:18

I scattered cornflowers and calendual and planted nasturtiums as well. Some of the calendulas I have put in tubs as I didn't want to have those with petunias as I am not growing bedding petunias from seed as T did. I had a go at tidying up round by the compost bins but I think that area needs a concentrated effort as I have tomato baskets to empty as well.

I also walked down with a couple of bags of stuff for the charities. That trip I took allout used batteries. They have somewhere they take those as well.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 1 Apr 2021 16:14

Sorry to hear you had another visit to hospital Frank but you did the right thing calling 999. As the others have said perhaps you shouldn’t do the more strenuous jobs unless Ros is at home. I hope you are feeling better now.

I hope your back pain has eased as well now Ann.

You are keeping busy AnnG. The charity lady must be pleased with all you are giving her. Your garden is going to look very pretty with all the seeds you have sown.

After our jobs yesterday OH had an achey arm but said it is less sore today. My arm is still quite painful and woke me several times in the night but otherwise no ill effects so far. It is reassuring to have had the jabs but we will continue to be cautious.

All was fine at the dentist’s today. We both had a thorough check up and x-rays to check that nothing had changed inside the gums since the last x-rays a couple of years ago. This is quite important for me as I have a lower tooth where the bone has worn away and there is a gap between the gum and the tooth where infection can get in. She also did a hand clean - what we used to call a pick and polish. Since Covid they have stopped using their modern equipment because of the droplets that can get sprayed into the air. Anyway, we are all good for the next 6 months.

Today started sunny but it was overcast by mid-morning. An hour ago I walked down the road to post grandson a birthday card and there was a really cold wind blowing. Grandson will be 21 on Sunday. Where have the years gone? I’m sure it was only yesterday that he was just a little boy.

Time now for an afternoon cuppa but no cake. This Monday evening our neighbour gave us 4 pieces of a delicious ginger cake but we had one each Tuesday and one each yesterday so no cake today, boo hoo.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 1 Apr 2021 18:44

Vera my achy arm lasted about four days. Good that you got on well at the dentist I really ought to make an appointment. I have actually got a face to face appointment with a doctor next
Thursday to check on a BCC that needs attention.mdon’t know what she will do about it though as they are not doing minor surgery at the GP surgery at the moment.

Job for tomorrow is to try and minimise more confusion at the tax office. Had the first payment from the pension awarded from T’s pension And they have used a tax code assuming no other income from what we can see. So I shall email the tax office. Should be fun.

Annx Report 1 Apr 2021 19:45

I managed to plant some Cosmos and Dwarf French Beans and sorted what I will plant tomorrow and came back inside then. OH is very achey but managed to pull more weeds out for 20 minutes. We picked our meds up earlier and went for a short ride to top OH's battery up. It was nice seeing all the shrubs and trees full of blossom. We noticed a few empty shops in the next village including the 2 bank branches. There just seems to be a Nationwide branch left, but that's always busy as there isn't much room inside and I suspect customers from the closed banks may have transferred to them as well.

I had the same problem when my state pension got added to my private pension AnnG and the pension people hadn't accounted for it in my tax. I was given the correct tax code notification and they tried to say it was ultimately my responsibility to check these things which it was and I had checked what they gave me. However, I wouldn't let it go and made a complaint and it turned out that the tax office had sent the correct tax code to the pension provider, but the pension provider hadn't used it because they said they hadn't received it. My response to that was that the error was between them and the pension provider and not me. They agreed then so I didn't have to pay. I hope they have a solution for treatment of your BCC if it needs any just yet. Our binmen collect our used batteries in polythene bags they leave us. Good you have taken more things to your lady.

That was good not needing any treatment at the dentist Vera and such a nice feeling as you walk out knowing you don't need anything doing. I really must get an appointment as well. My word Olive is a big girl isn't she all sprawled out on the settee!

Frank it sounds like you overdid it trying to take that plant out. Why not let Barry do these things? It was wise to get checked out but Ros must wonder what she will find when she gets home.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Apr 2021 22:00

Lovely pics of Olive and is'nt she a sweety. She's going to be a big dog if she's only 8 months old as they grow till 18 months.

Had a couple of hours up the border.

Actually got through to the doctors today as our neighbour told oh they had to ring to make an appointment for the second jabs. Did that and mine is on 23rd April and oh's is 14th May.

Good luck with the tax office tomorrow Anng.

Hope you all sleep well tonight.

AnninGlos Report 2 Apr 2021 07:17

good morning all early awake again so having a cuppa while looking on here. Looks grey out there again and only 2 degrees so colder than yesterday.
Mel tax office will be done by email, I am not hanging on the phone for hours only to not be able to hear when they eventually answer, and it is not urgent being that it is probably me that will owe them money. (I won't spend it).

Morning Anng and all,

Another dry day with some sunshine nd the skies a bit bluer today with looonnngg white clouds.

Nothing planned for today just take the day as it comes. May go up the border, may not. A wee bit achey today so it may be catching up on me.

Oh gave me my Easter present yesterday but I said I wanted to save it till Sunday.

My dear dad died on Good Friday April 13th so a sad day for me today.

I do wish we could find out if EOS is ok and I'd like to hear from Island too.

Hope you all slept well last night.

SuffolkVera Report 2 Apr 2021 10:41

I’ll bbl but just a quick reply to Mel. Elizabeth replied to a pm I sent her and Island responded to my pics of Olive so they are both around.

We do just chit-chat a lot and not everyone enjoys that. I am sure they will come on the thread when they have something they want to say.

In the nick of time - Morning all! I hope all's well with everyone.
I've been so poorly from I don't know what, gastric bug? something I ate? although we both had the same to eat and he's been fine. I was in so much pain I was scared I wouldn't recover - over dramatic and not like me but I have never felt so ill.
Now the funny thing, this was over 3 days but it felt like a fortnight.
I spent those lovely sunny days indoors between bed and sofa - and the kitchen sink but we won't go there LOL.
Working on getting myself back up to par ready for the next warmer day to clear the worktop in my shed ready for seed sowing. Early April is my usual time for most seeds.
We've had another pick from the PS broccoli and decide we could reduce steaming to 5 mins, luckily it's still been tasty after over steaming.

Afternoon all! :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
