Lovely quote AnnG :-)
Ann, your pictures just keep getting better. The cottage is pretty but it’s the vase of flowers that I really love. It’s brilliant.
I’m pleased that things are beginning to move on a bit for you Gill. Get your boiler in and a couple of the other jobs done and it will really start to feel like home. Has Sandra moved in to her flat yet?
Frank, please take up loose mats and rugs. It will make your home safer and you can’t afford to keep falling over.
I had a large Tesco order yesterday and was well pleased. It arrived early, there was nothing missing and only 1 acceptable sub. The wiping down didn’t take very long either.
It’s our wedding anniversary today, 58 years. What a change in the weather! Today is beautiful but then the snow and ice from the long winter of 1962/3 had barely thawed so it was slushy everywhere. It poured with rain all morning and stopped just before our 2 pm wedding. It was cold and grey and by the time we reached the reception the slight train on my white velvet dress was caked in mud.
I haven’t felt brilliant since Saturday and my head is quite bad today so I won’t be staying and looking at a screen for long. I don’t think I’ll be doing anything much in the garden either although it is lovely outside. Tomorrow it’s our second jab and Thursday it’s the dentist so not a lot to look forward to this week.
Enjoy your day whatever you are doing.

Wipe down done in record time but I did'nt have a lot this week. The one thing I forgot to order last week was my big bloomer loaf so that was the first thing I put on for this weeks order but it did'nt cpome and when I looked at the order it was'nt on there. Must have disappeared into the ether.
Its really quite warm out there today and oh is up my border cutting down the big fushia I asked him to cut down two years ago so that will be a big help. It will grow again but it was taking over a big space. I just hope he has'nt trampled my precious pink low growing geranium I have been trying to get a cutting off of to put on the rockery bit with the mauve one I have.

Afternoon All,
It's a lovely day here too so I am starting with some planting of seeds and a bit of pruning after posting this.
Sorry you haven't felt great Vera, but it's best to keep off the screen a bit as you say. Congratulations on your 58th Anniversary, a much nicer day than your wedding day weatherwise! Glad you liked the pictures, they were very different from each other but more good practice for me.
I have always been a great fan of Audrey Hepburn too AnnG and always wished I had her looks! That was a great saying and very positive! Don't try to do too much at once outside. I think it's supposed to be good weather for a few days now.
That's good you have an appointment at the doctor's tomorrow Gill and I hope the gardener eventually turned up. Maybe he had a long day. It sounds like things have started to progress now which is good.
It's a shame you had a bad night Mel, but good the food is all dealt with. I can't remember when I last saw Bridge rolls either. I must get my sweet peas planted today.

It has been a beautiful day out there and is now 21 degrees so too hot for gardening. I have spent around three hours out there today and am reasonable pleased with what I have achieved. My main job was to clear up the weeds and cut back dead grasses in the pots down by the bottom patio, including all the hosta pots. The hostas are just starting to show their tips so I had to be careful. Thjis has always been my job so not any different to usual, except I also had to shif the pots that T had decided to move around and (shock, horror) he had planted crocus in what he thought was an empty pot but it has a hosta in it!! So I had to sort that out. I then tidied up a bit of rambling rose and some of the clematis on the trellis, then weeded my way down the right hand side (facing the house) of the garden. Having a love hate relationship with celandines as they have spread even worse this year. Trouble is at the moment they are flowering and look so pretty with their bright yellow flowers. So I dug some up and left some. then came to the wall garden outside the conservatory and needed to cut the fuschia down even more. I will continue tomorrow but in the morning I have a U3A friend coming round for coffee in the garden which will be nice.
Vera, sorry to hear you are not feeling too good. If you have a migraine tomorrow I don't think they will do your second jab will they? anyway, I hope it is a minor headache and not a migraine.
Ann and Mel, hope you got done all you wanted in the garden. Mel you didn't answer my question about the sweet peas.

Just come in and hav'nt achieved much up the border but have cut down some of the bottlebrush tree and dug out brimbles and nettles.
Happy 58th anniversary Vera to you and your hubby. Sorry Vera I missed your post when I posted at just past 12 pm. Hope your jab goes ok and the dentist.
Iv'e got chilli out the freezer for him tonight and I am going to have spaghetti on toast as I just fancy that. Not something I have had in ages.
As to the sweet peas they were growing in a pot and had been pinched out so I just had to part them and put them in the tubs. I did forget to put a few slug pellets on them under a piece of wood as I usually do.

You have been busy and got plenty done AnnG and so did Mel as I know those Bottlebrushes grow a lot of foliage and brambles take some sorting out. I planted my sweet peas in pots and the French Marigold seeds and cut back everything growing through the trellis all along the path to the greenhouse. It will be easier to pressure wash the path now. I nearly choked on the fumes from nextdoor's barbecue when they lit it. I think they are just as bad as a bonfire as the fumes get inside the house as well. I came in then as my back was twanging with bending down to do some cutting back. Maybe I'll do some more tomorrow.
I hope Vera is ok after her jab and that her head is better now.

good morning all. Vera I neglected to wish you a happy anniversary yesterday but I hope it was a nice day.
Mandy I don't seem to have any ill effects from the 3 hours gardening. Strange how sometimes after just half an hour I can suffer but yesterday it was three hours.
Already 8 degrees outside and the sun is rising so hopefully it will be another nice day. I will do a bit more in the garden probably after my friend has been for coffee this morning. :-)

Good morning AnnG and all
Thank you all for your anniversary wishes. OH spent much of the day gardening and I spent the afternoon in bed trying to get rid of my bad head. I got up at 6 pm and sat up feeling dreadful till 10 when I went back to bed. Surprisingly I had a good night and feel much better this morning.
I’m going to shower now and then decide what to do this morning. We’ll be getting our jab this afternoon.
It’s already 12 degrees and sunny though it is supposed to cloud over in an hour or two.

Good morning all, and yet another beautiful day.
Ros worked in the garden until 5.00 pm. I Had prepared lamb chops, runners, brussels, peas and carrots and of course the potato's. She decided she didn't want a large meal, so we had a light supper. I changed the water in the veg and pots, last night, and again this morning. So we know what's for dinner tonight.
Ros didn't go out with Carolyn yesterday as she has the painters in, snd had to empty the wardrobe so the could move it to paint the wall. So they are out today. Ros has just been to the Drs. to collect the scripts. so that's another job out of the way. She is now waiting for Carolyn to come, and they will be off to do their shopping and visiting the Garden Centres.
As for me I will sit with my book in the conservatory, then onto the patio as it warms up.All in all another lazy day.
As we can't go out for a meal over Easter. I have told Ros to get a small Turkey and I will do us a nice meal on Sunday. I have also ordered a nice Bouquet of flowers, to be delivered tomorrow as a surprise.
No plans for Easter, other than we might have a ride into the Countryside to give us a bit of time out from the bungalow. We have some beautiful villages around and pleasant places yo sit along the Canal system. (WEATHER PERMITTING)
Enjoy whatever you are doing girls, will be thinking of you all. xxx

Morning all,
Another nice morning here in Devon with hazey blue sky and sunshine and looks like not a breath of wind but I hav'nt been out yet.
I think its finish off the front this morning and then back up the border this afternoon. Wish I had Ros to help me but I shall muddle on and get more brimbles out. Its the birds fault as they sit onthe wall and mess after eating the brimbles and ivy berries.
The deer have been tasting just about everything in the border and treading on other things they don't eat. The Clematis needs cutting down as it has flower buds on great long stems and is a tangle of live and dead stems so I think they can come down to about 18inches. Oh said I can have the big barrow up there today so don't have to keep emptying my little one.
Seems Vera had a good night so how did you ohter sleep? I went out like a light last night.

Morning Everyone,
Yes I slept well last night Mel and overslept till 9.00am. OH has some training online so I think I will plant some more seeds in the greenhouse before it gets any hotter in there. I might continue the pruning and fill a humper and like you was weighing up having a really good cut back with 2 of the clematis that were just flowering at the top last year. Lunch will need to be late anyway after OH finishes online.
You were up early AnnG. It's a nice day to enjoy sitting and having a coffee with your friend. Your earlier garden stints sound as if they have begun to get your back used to it.
Sorry to hear you have been having a miserable time with your head Vera, but it sounds much better today. Migraines do leave you feeling washed out after so have a nice rest and look at your OH's efforts in the garden. :-)
I bet Ros will be back with more plants for the garden Frank. I don't know where she finds her energy to do what she does. Enjoy the sunshine and reading your book.
Better get going now.

things are certainly starting to move.
So exciting when the trees and flowers start to show signs of new growth. My plum tree is flowering white blossom.
I do wonder what trees Gill has. Maybe greengage? I had a lovely greengage tree in my cottage garden in suffolk in the front and the year I left it it had the biggest crop on it ever.

I think Gill’s trees were in bloom a bit early to be greengage but they could be one of the other plums. The greengage we had in our last house usually bloomed around mid April and the one next door to us here isn’t in bloom yet. I still wonder if they are flowering cherry trees. When Gill first mentioned it the ornamental cherries round here were blooming.
Whatever it is Gill, it’ll be fun finding out if it fruits :-)
