Evening all,

Been raining here most of the day ,I walked up to the post office to post Mel's parcel and just made it before the rain got heavier.
I'm having problems with my lap top so I won't be able to see any emails so I apologise for not commenting if anyone has sent any ,this tablet won't let me sign in to AOL so i can't see them at all now and until son can come round it will have to stay like it .
Hopefully at the end of the month we should be able to sit in the garden so he might be able to do it then .
Looks like I will have to get a new lap top this one I have now I've had quite a while .

Good morning all. dry but dull here at the moment but early yet. hope to mow the lawn if it stays dry. otherwise a bit more tidying, clearing out, probably more to do in T's office and the conservatory could do with a clean up. slept reasonably well but awake early.
My hair is really annoying me now will be so glad when I can get it cut. My hairdresser is very hesitant to make bookings yet in case everything changes. don't blame her but it would be good to have something to look forward to.
Mandy you are going to miss your laptop so gope there is a solution for you soon.

Morning Anng and all,

Think we have about the same weather Anng. Dull grey and dry.

My forsythia is out in blossom and the camelia in the west corner is out too but that gets a bit of frost but you can't see that from the kitchen window. Primmyroses are flowering and there daffs all out in the orchard. Round by the edge of the little wood there are mauvy pink primmyroses that have spread along the edge over the years.

Watched two female pheasants when I went back int he bedroom to make the bed and they were disappearing into the undergrowoth at the edge of the wood over the back so when I do the big girls I'll have a look and see if there are any nests there.

Morning AnnG, Mel and all

For once it’s sunny and dry here. It’s a bit chilly in the breeze but quite a pleasant morning. I still feel a long way short of 100% but told myself to get off my backside and stop moping around so I’ve washed a king size duvet cover and got it on the line. It’s been waiting about 3 weeks to be washed and I’ve got another one to do as well but it’s a start. Then I went for a little walk. It wasn’t far, barely a mile, but again it’s a start.

Isn’t it nice to see everything starting to bloom again Mel. Our little white anemones are just starting to come out and I have mini tulips in pots just opening up. I’ve got some later daffs in pots but we only have one sort in one of the flowerbeds called February Gold. They have been the best ever this year. They’ve been in bloom for 3 weeks and are still looking really good. At one point last year we found some tiny bulbs but had no idea what they were so OH planted them. Being an engineer he put them in a straight line of course instead of a little group. Well 14 little daffs have come up. They are only about 3” tall but are perfect. Goodness knows where they came from but I’m glad we’ve got them :-)

Another nice surprise was seeing a pair of greenfinches on one of the feeders. They are the first we have seen in the garden since we moved here 7 years ago so I was really pleased.

Going to make a coffee now and then do a bit of vacuuming before I lose motivation. Have a nice day everyone.

Kind you don't hurt yourself carrying heavy bags.
Suns sort of out here but the sky to the north is still grey.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 19 Mar 2021 11:53

Bags delivered, heavy but not the heaviest I have carried. I think that is all t's clothes taken down there now so that feels a success. There are still some clothes around of his but they all fit me so are staying to see if I get wear out of them.

Vera 2 Greenfinches, how wonderful, I thought I saw one the other day but other than that we and now I have not seen any since they all caught that disease.
and a little bit at a time, I guess the procedure before and during, even though unsuccessful, has taken it out of you. Be pleased at what you have done and don't worry about what you have not done.

I feel a bit more positive today, even though it is dull and damp. I said to daughter yesterday that, getting home from my trip to hospital I felt guilty for getting on with my life when her Dad couldn't. her words were 'don't feel guilty, Dad told you he wanted to know you were OK', And she is right, his main worry all the time in hospital was that I was OK.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 19 Mar 2021 12:53

And he is still making sure you are ok Anng. You have got a nice lot of things done and so has Vera so you both should be proud of yourselves.

I have filled up both of our pill pots for the week and fed the chickens and bantams and the wild birds so they are good jobs out of the way.

I need to do the census next but want oh with me incase I do something wrong.

Then get lunch and get on a do a bit more.

I caught the shrew in the lounge last night with my new trap. Oh dealt with it this morning. I was right it was a shrew and a very fat one at that so just in time I think before it had its shrewlets.

Frank Report 19 Mar 2021 13:45

Afternoon all , I thought I had better pop in, I don't want you worrying where I am.

Had a good night last night, was in bed by 10.00 and slept until 6.30. Nothing sort of day here as well, overcast, cloudy with a few spots of rain.

I have done very little today, apart from sitting in the conservatory, reading me book. Eos has showered and washed her hair, she's had it in rollers, and sat under the hair dryer. All done now.

I see BORIS is having his COVID JAB today. About time too. We go for our 2nd JAB next Friday at 2.45 pm.Have you all had yours ???

I have a terrible thirst, I have drunk two 2 litre bottles so far today. I'm in and out of the loo, like no tomorrow. lol lol

Ros has to go the Drs later to pick up a script . She has another water infection.

Take care all, whatever you are doing. See you soon. xxxx

Poor Ros not another water infection. Hope it clears up quickly for her. <3

Had lunch and oh is out mowing again but I don't know for how long as it overcast now and still very cold out there. I told him to wear a hat but he would'nt.

Annx Report 19 Mar 2021 19:02

Evening All,

I think we had a bit of rain this afternoon, but we have had some sun today too.

Your garden and Vera's are sounding really pretty with the spring flowers Mel. Ours doesn't have many bulbs, but I noticed pink flowers starting to open on one of the Camellias yesterday and the Viburnum is white over like frost.

The talk was interesting Mandy and I never realised the flu vaccine gave less than 50% protection, so the new vaccines are far more protective for coronavirus. Fitting the new router was a breeze, and they will phone us to do the switchover. Sorting the wireless printer connection on both laptops is done but took us a while. I was settling down with a cuppa when OH came to me in a panic saying all his work files on his laptop had vanished and it was a 'disaster'. His main folders were there but no files next to them. Luckily most saved elsewhere but not a chunk of recent work. The quickest thing was to phone the tech support people who could check and maybe recover them. That's when the fun started! I couldn't open their site to give them access, and they said our internet provider had beefed up security so much now that I would need to phone them to ask them to allow access! Tried that and was in a big queue, so we had lunch first. Tried again then and just got automated messages that weren't what I wanted and no option to speak to a person. Eventually I got a person with poor english, spoken very fast without any pauses and I had to ask her to speak more slowly in the end! She asked ME if I had a hearing problem and has noted my account. I daren't say it wasn't me. She then had to do adjustments her end and then talk me through what to do on both laptops which took ages as I had to keep trying again after each instruction. Eventually it worked and The tech people were able to get remote access. Then when he had a look, blow me the files had all come back on their own!!! :-0 Don't you feel stupid! He thought it may have been just a glitch or an update, but OH was mighty pleased.

Then I had a zoom meeting with friends and now I'm ready for an early night!

That's a good job finished now AnnG. You will have these feelings at times I'm sure, but T would be really proud of you as others have said and like Mandy I doubt I would have done so well.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 19 Mar 2021 19:17

Mandy I tried to put the butterfly in the top of the box so when you opened it it flew out but everytime I tried it just went off so I just put it in and slid the instructions down the side. You are supposed to be able to put them in cards and books or under things that are picked up like magazines and papers etc.

Glad you liked the headbands for the girls.

Oh has bought the motor racing so that will occupy him now for a while.

SuffolkVera Report 19 Mar 2021 20:05

We’ve had Mandy’s weather. It was like May outside this afternoon. Our garden is fairly sheltered, the sun was shining and the only sound in our quiet close was the neighbour cutting his grass. It was lovely and peaceful - cheered me up no end. I put out all the plants and cuttings that had been overwintering in the conservatory and gave them a couple of hours sun and air and a good watering, topped up the bird feeders and sowed some tomato seeds. They were only Moneymaker and Gardener’s Delight left from last year but I hope they will take. I’ve tried to make the most of today’s weather as I think it’s all change again tomorrow..

AnnG, the others are right. T would be proud of you and you can be proud of yourself. You’ve coped far better than I would have done.

I bet your OH felt sick when he thought he’d lost so much work (moral, back everything up). What a kerfuffle getting it sorted but all’s well that ends well. I really understand how your OH felt as, a few years ago, OH was very busy and needing some work done on the computer put it in to a local company. When it came back it was missing all my family history stuff. I was in tears thinking of all the years and years of work disappeared. OH then admitted they had asked him what must be kept and he had forgotten to mention my Family Historian programme. Suddenly I remembered that I had everything backed up on USBs anyway. In the initial shock I had forgotten that. I still had to download the actual programme again which meant hunting through all my files till I found the original access number which proved I had bought it.

Do you remember a month or so ago I had a cheque from the DVLA as unused tax on a car I didn’t recognise? I sent it back with a letter and today I got a response. Apparently, they had been informed that my brother had died so sent his refund to me as his next of kin. He and his partner had lived together for roughly 40 years but had never formalised their relationship so I was legally his next of kin. It would have been useful if there could have been an indication of this in the letter they sent with the cheque. All it said was that it was a refund for a car registration number I didn’t know. They have now given me a number to ring and I will ask them to send the refund to brother’s partner as executor of his will.

I feel a little better now though I am very tired so fingers crossed for a good night tonight for me and all of you.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 19 Mar 2021 20:21

Ann I wonder if the higher security blocked those files for some reason they seem to have reappeared after the phone call about the security. Wonder why they put higher security on, a bit of a cheek without warning you.

Thanks all for saying I am doing well. I am trying to do what T wanted, or what I think he wanted. It is hard though as what I really want (for him to come back) is obviously not going to happen and that sometimes pulls me in opposite directions. But I will continue to persevere, today has mostly been a good day.

AnninGlos Report 20 Mar 2021 07:46

Good morning all, awake early today, woke at 0530 then dosed until 0630 couldn't really get back to sleep dull here so far, we didn't see any sun at all yesterday.

Thank you Vera, I am sure that you would cope, there seems to be a reserve of something that keeps you going maybe a survival instinct. Also it would have been worse if I had just given in and sat doing nothing but thinking. hard work clearing out cupboards etc took my mind off things to an extent and gave me a purpose. And I do have to give credit to my daughter and her OH for keeping me going by pushing me to do things that needed doing.

I was annoyed that we didn't have decent weather yesterday as I wanted to get out in the garden. still at least the conservatory got done.

Morning all

It’s back to dull, grey and not very warm today. Yesterday’s lovely weather here was just a blip. I’ve no plans so I’ll just see what the day brings. Having a cup of tea now and then a shower, then who knows what exciting things will happen ;-). I wish! Most likely it’ll be the same old thing, stay in and don’t see anyone.
