Just a quick post. Thank you all for your good wishes. Things didn’t go as well as hoped. The prep yesterday was awful but I did everything as instructed and got through it but didn’t get to bed till 1 am or sleep till turned 3 am. Had to be up at 6.30 so I could shower and OH could get breakfast before leaving at 7.30. Then my blood pressure, which is usually in the normal range, was sky high. I know “white coat syndrome” sends it up a bit but this was way above normal for me, so the nurse took it 6 times before they went ahead with the procedure. Then the doctor abandoned it after 20 minutes as he couldn’t get round a bit of my innards. He’s writing to my consultant suggesting I either have it done again but with a thin tube they use for very young children or they do a colostomy scan. Either way I’ll have to go through all this awful prep again. So I am not a happy bunny.

Be back in a better mood tomorrow.

O poor you Vera what an awful thing to have to have done again after all that prep. I can see why your not a happy bunny.

Oh is cooking so I went in the shower after cleaning the big girls out. I felt all itchy. They are nice and clean now anyway.

Mandy I may squeak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Vera that is a shame, I am sorry you had all that for nothing.was it actually a good surgeon or could it have been his fault, you have had it done before haven’t you did you have a problem then? Never mind presumably you can look forward to eating tomorrow.

AnninGlos Report 17 Mar 2021 20:01

Sorry Mandy. No I would not drive in town. My neighbour will take me and drop me off and I will bus home. Easier to get there on time by car I hope and no problem to bus home to save her hanging around.

Annx Report 17 Mar 2021 20:18

Evening All,

It's been dull here most of the day, but warmer again. I slept well but woke up at 6.30am and didn't go back to sleep so at least I was in good time for my landscape course.

OH went to the dentist who said he needed the hospital to extract one of his teeth last time he went. The hospital said it wasn't necessary and that his own dentist could do a root filling! That didn't get done due to lockdown and now this same dentist is saying he needs it extracting by the hospital again! :-S At this rate it will fall out on it's own before anyone does anything.

Oh Mandy, Mel might enclose one of those 'squeakers' for toys! lol. :-D I'm using the back of the sodden painting for practice as it wasn't as good as I would have liked anyway, no-ones was, including the teacher's! lol.Today we did a snowy scene that was better to do, but it seems a bit bare, although the photo we used looks a bit bare too. It's the last week next week and some of the others want to do trees and walls as they say their attempts are like a 5 year old's. I don't mind trees and walls so I have asked about doing people in landscapes. I hope the muscle aches have worn off by Friday ready for the barrowing. You don't want aches before you even start do you.

Sorry things didn't go well today Vera. It sounds like a bit of an ordeal and how disappointing to have to go through that awful prep again. Hope you had a nice meal afterwards.

Mel I have never switched the wifi on on my camera either. I thought it was just for wireless downloading of photos but don't really know.

Frank I had a lovely four poster at my old house, but sold it when I moved here as the bedrooms here are quite small in comparison. It was lovely with barley twist and fluted posts, but quite dusty with all the drapes. The one Simon got was a bargain price.

That's good you took the car out for a drive AnnG. If you do a little often, you will get more used to it. I have to admit with the lockdown, the few times I have taken mine out it has felt strange and I wasn't as relaxed as usual. It will change once I am out more regularly though. I see you are still getting things sorted and able to use the wardrobe for some of your things now. Don't mention cameras to me......I have a few that I need to sell as well as somewhere to keep the two I want.

G noticed the little dog next door coming back from her walk this afternoon. He saw the man stop and talk to someone, then he unclipped her lead and dropped it on the path. The dog picked it up and ran full pelt down the close carrying it home. It looks like something they are letting her do which I think is a bit silly. Even if the close isn't busy with cars at the time, someone could be sitting in their car in the their drive and start reversing into the road and run over her. There's not even a footpath at the bottom where we have a single width road and the asian boys really put their foot down when they drive away and wouldn't see her round the bend from their parents' house. I thought it had been made illegal now to not be on a lead on a road anyway. It has solved the mystery of her running home on her own the other day.

Glad you liked the card Gill and thought it was shop bought! It sounds like the cutting back of the hedge is a good temporary answer to make room for your plants just now.

Gillx Report 17 Mar 2021 23:55

Well I never got around to cutting any of the hedge back or moving any pots as I've been busy trying to find a builder and left yet another message as I only had a landline number, but he hasn't got back to me yet. I was on the phone to Sandra for a few hours trying to sort out a few things for her and by the time I'd finished that the day was pretty much gone. Luckily OH moved the wood into the garage so he then put my pots in that space for me.

Our new driving licences arrived today along with the log book for the car so I had to cut our old licences in half and get them ready for OH to post on his way to work. Apparently it's against the law to have two driving licences, so they're gone now.

I have BT here tomorrow to sort out the Internet and the gas people got back to me today to let me know they can come and put the new pipes in next Tuesday and Wednesday, so that was quick. Hopefully it won't be to much longer before the metre and boiler goes in then we'll have hot water. So we're getting there slowly. I still think I'm going to have to find more builder's numbers as two of them today said they were busy or didn't do small jobs. I'm beginning to think I'm never going to find a builder.

Yes, Mandy we did bring the water feature and the lights, some solar ones, around 100 of them and some electric one's that change colour. If you remember Sandra liked the pink light the best.

Loved the photo's Mel.

Signing out now as I'm shattered, I didn't get much sleep last night in the end.

Morning all,

We have a bright morning again but it may turn cloudy this afternoon. There was a frost this morning too.

Hope you all slept well or enough. Think Gill will sleep well after all she been doing lately and I hope she can find a builder soon to get the bricks done.

Whats everyone else up to today?

AnninGlos Report 18 Mar 2021 10:04

good morning all. I have a hospital appointment at 1.30. Just done the shopping list for sunday and must remember it is an hour earlier this week.

slept ok until 0530 then just dozed. got up about 0730 and showered and washed hair. Better see what small jobs I have to do as I will have to have lunch early today.

brightish and 6 degrees, hope it doesn't rain later.

Gill it looks as though you want a small job builder, maybe a jobbing builder. Where are you looking for names? I suppose a lot will be very busy as people have taken advantage of being home with lockdown to get jobs done. do you have a community site on facebook?

Just made a chocolate sponge and am waiting for it to cool down so I can fill it with goodies and maybe some jam too. I have a nice cherry jam and butter icing chocolate flavour.

Afternoon to you all.

Overcast but not that cold. I took a chance and took my book, and sat on the patio for half an hour reading. I was pleased to get back in doors as I started to get chilly.

You are a spoil sport Mel, not sharing your cake, It looks good enough to eat. !!!!

Haven't felt great again today.Still getting these funny feelings down my right side. I have started taking extra pain killers, to try to ease in a bit. I am not taking as many as I am allowed, but it seems to help having that extra two.

Pork chops with rice and veg mix tonight. Nice and easy and nothing to prepare.

I hope you are all well and that Gill is getting sorted.

Back to my book but in the conservatory, and not on the patio.

See you in the morning, xxxx

Lovely to know what you are up to Frank and oh has just said to me he is not going back out on the mower cos its too cold. Not in his body as he is wearing his Easter Present which he says is lovely and warm but around his face and ears. He dos'nt like wearing hats that come over his ears so he's in his study.

I have been trying to order our repeat scripts on the phone again this month but it now says you must order them online and you need a user name and password which they wiwll give you at the surgery. So off I had to go this afternoon to go and drop off the script forms for us both and get a name and password for us both. What a palarver, I know its not far to Black Torrington but its a disruption to your afternoon. I am now sitting here and don't want to do anything. Why could'nt they have told me I needed to get the U N & P from them when I picked up our scripts last time cos they were'nt at the shop. All these silly little runs out in the car are using up the deisel when it may be needed for emergancies.

Moan over and its just as well I have you lot to moan at or I may do something silly.

Another moan, I hate this keyboard as I have to read through everything as it keeps putting letters in where I don't want them. The keys are closer together than my last one and I keep hitting two at a time. The space bar is tiny too. I don't think i HAVE LOOKED AT A KEYBOARD (THERE SEE WHAT i MEAN NOW ITS DOING CAPS)

Ahhhhhhhhh :-| :-| :-|

I assume that you touch type Mel which makes it difficult for you. anyway back at 2.45 from my appointment which went very well, being the hospital everything is ultra, ultra safe. Only 6 people at a time in their waiting space I went in on time and had a very long appointment, a nice young man, nothing was too much trouble. He took impressions for new molds then decided as it was difficult for me on my own, if my aids went wrong they now have a system whereby you post the aids to them and they fix them and post them back, he rightly said I couldn't manage without them so he has ordered me not just new molds but new aids as well programmed the same as these which he reprogrammed for me because he noticed I turned them up to hear him (with the mask on of course. And he also added the loop system which they forgot when I first had them. He has ordered heavier duty molds as he thinks it won't be long before I need my hearing checked again. I suppose they will take a bit of getting used to.

Sorry you’re a bit shaky Frank. I hope you’re feeling better now. You wouldn’t want to be reading outside here today. It’s rained all day; not heavy but constant and with a bit of a breeze it’s quite chilly as well.

I hope your hospital visit went well AnnG. Did you go for your hearing problems or did I dream that up? Yes I did have problems once before when the endoscopist came across something she felt should be handled by the consultant himself so I had to go back for another procedure a month later but on both those occasions the prep wasn’t as awful as this time. It was a qualified doctor doing it so I imagine he knew what he was doing. I was reading through my copy of the paperwork being sent to my doctor and was amazed to discover I was suffering from “Cerebrovascular Disease, mild systemic disease, compensated”. It took me a minute or two to work out that they were saying I get migraines!

You are busy Gill. It can’t be easy helping Sandra from a distance. With luck your gas will soon be sorted. Do you know if there is a local newsletter for your area or something like a local Church News? If there is see if you can get hold of a copy as local handymen and jobbing builders often have an advert in them.

That cake looks yummy Mel. How long will it take your OH to demolish it? I hope he leaves you a slice. While I was resting yesterday afternoon OH took a call from a friend to say she had left something on our doorstep. It was four lovely freshly made scones. Shop stuff is good but you can’t beat home baking. Oh, they are lovely photos of Robin Redbreast.

Oh Ann, your poor OH playing piggy-in-the-middle while the dentist and the hospital throw the ball back and forth. I hope he is not in much pain with that tooth. We had a dental check-up booked for yesterday but I had to cancel because of my clinic appointment so it’s been remade for 1st April, April Fool’s Day.

Wipe down again for me. I am expecting Sainsbury’s between 4 and 5 pm so I’d better go and get some bags out ready.

Afternoon All,

Dullish here but it is brightening up a bit. Much warmer today though when I went to get the fish out of the garage freezer. I didn't sleep well at all and neither did OH. I did some balance exercises on the Wii yesterday and it seems to have made my left knee achey in the night and OH had a very stiff neck and pain behind the ear that is ok!! I think his neck is bad from having so many meetings and writing to do.

Fish in crumb with mash, peas, broc and cabbage today. OH is eating what I suggest and the reflux isn't a problem now like it started to be at the beginning of the week. I even had to stop him having coffee as that relaxes the valve to the stomach and lets acid flow back. Tomorrow will be the last day on his antibiotics, then he can have his reflux tablets again.

Good luck with your appointment AnnG and I hope it's routine and nothing worrying. At least there isn't as much waiting about at the moment.

I have been tidying some things away like my old laptop and craft stuff as we need to be able to pull my storage drawers forward on the worktops to connect up the new router in the morning. I thought my old laptop would fit under the bed in my little zip case I use when I take it away, but it was too thick with the laptop and foam so I put it in a big plastic bag instead. I always put cables to things in a small plastic bag now with a note of what they are for as we can never remember! I have a cardboard box with old cables in and when I went to put the cable in there it was almost full of bits and bobs and discs belonging to an old desktop computer and remotes for some old tvs. They have gone in the bin now, so that was good to clear them out.

Enjoy your book Frank and I hope it is an interesting read!

Let's hope you get a response from a builder today Gill! At least your pots are in a better place now.

The Crows and Magpies seem very active now and a Magpie has been flying over the bungalow with sticks longer than itself this morning so it seems nest building/repairs are in full swing.

I see you have all been posting while I forgot to send mine! It sounds like you will be able to hear better once you have the new aids AnnG. I imagine they will help a lot once you have them adjusted and they fit well.

Mel the cake looks delish and I expect it won't last long. Nice to see your Robby too. We signed up a few years ago so we could use our surgery online services. They have changed their system again recently and now we have to go again to get signed up as I can't log in now! They aren't reducing risk, making us make these extrajourneys.

I have only just remembered I have a Marvellous Medicine lecture on zoom at 6.00pm about coronavirus so I'd better slosh some water on my hair to control it and make myself presentable. :-S
