I had painting by numbers too but got fed up with waiting for the paint to dry too.

Mandy I was going to say make some tiny masks for the elves. Did I send you the one I found in the box I bought at the Works? Lewis will love that they came with masks on won't he as he mentioned it.

Morning Anng and all,

Much the same here Anng grey sky and the light levels are really down. It affects the chickens and I am only getting two eggs a day over the past two days. See how many I get today? 9 degrees out there this morning.

Have to pop to the shop for the paper and some more milk and will leave Em's eggs outside as usual. She's only got a dozen this week instead of two.

Nothings happened here so nothing to tell you.

I must say I missed Elizabeth posts yesterday so sorry for that and I wish you a peacefull weekend and stay safe.

OH was late phoning this morning so I couldn't settle to do anything so I sat reading. After he made a short call to tell me he fell asleep after breakfast, I did a bit of cutting while it is dry in the garden. So cut the peonie down and cut back some of the blackberry. Now just about to take up a pair of trousers bought on line, just pull on lightweight tracky type.

Good afternoon AnnG, Mel and all

It’s dry at the moment but very grey and miserable looking and about 10 degrees. Even when it's cold a bit of sun cheers everything up but it doesn’t look as though we are getting much of the yellow stuff this week.

Thank you as always for your weekend good wishes Elizabeth. The weeks seem to roll round so quickly now. I wish you and yours a calm and happy weekend.

You’re right, Mel, we are a bit thin on the ground now. I suppose Gill is busy and not always very well and Frank isn’t at his best at the moment, Island has her pain to contend with and Fg had to drop out and, of course, we all miss Jane’s posts. Still, the rest of us must keep the thread going as I think it acts as a good safety net and support.

I hope OH is comfortable AnnG and they can get some sort of treatment started for him. It’s the weekend again so I don’t suppose much will happen until Monday now. You must be so frustrated at not being able to visit and see for yourself how he is but thank goodness we have mobile phones these days so you can keep in touch a bit. Our hospital is still allowing limited visits - only one visitor at a pre-arranged time - but we have been relatively lucky round here with the virus. Having said that, it is now in several care homes in a town about 12 miles from here and there is a lot of movement between the two towns. OH was there at the dentist earlier this week.

Ann, I love your misty picture. Mandy is right, you are just getting better and better. Do you ever sell your paintings? I am sure you would do well. Several places round here often have the work of local amateur artists for sale. I have a couple of framed paintings I bought some years ago when they were on display in the local library. They hang in my hall and one in particular is quite like some of your pictures. It’s a local winter scene of trees bordering a path alongside the river and it is quite misty. I’m sorry to hear your OH’s back is not good after his optician’s visits. I’m not surprised he’s aching after the length of time he was in there and hope he is feeling a bit better now.

Oops, I have just noticed the time. OH will be wanting lunch soon so I had better get the soup going. Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.

Good you've heard from oh Anng even if there was'nt much to say at least he rang so you can get on with some things now.

I spoke to Em and the boys today through an open door. It wa so lovely to have a short chat. the boys are still at school and they are all alright. I treat the boys like my grandchildren as I have never seen any of mine so they are borrowed grandchildren. Their gran is a year or so younger than me and a good friend.

Vera hows your back today?

Sending love to Frank and hope the painful ribs are getting better.

Must g and get the corn out of the bantams run as they will have gone to bed now and I don't like leaving uneaten food in there as the mice get in and eat it. I don't mind feeding the wild birds but when it come to the local mice population I draw a line.

Afternoon All,

Another dull day here too. Thanks for your good wishes Elizabeth. I hope you have a nice weekend too.

Just had our tech people remotely access my PC to see if the problem with my laptop camera going on and off at will was something they could fix. Sadly not as everything they checked is working perfectly. It looks like it is certainly a connection loose inside the laptop, which was what the teacher on the photography course thought it was. While he was on the phone I asked him about Windows10 (I'm still on Windows 8.1) as I knew the free downloads ended ages ago. He thought I could still possibly get it free as my laptop is a well known make and checked to see if it could still download to it and it will. That will save some £s, but I need to see if the camera can be fixed first and also to wait till my courses end as I can't be without it just now. He said it would take 3 hours to down load and then I need a bit of time to find my way around it, so just before Xmas would be a good time. :-)

Vera I had what was leftover from yesterday with some extra veg from Monday that I defrosted, so a kind of chicken stew and very nice it was with little effort! Yes, there is a lot of plague information in the Parish Record Books, which they were looking at in the programme. They said that some of the London churchyards were raised by 3 feet with all the victims buried. I am wondering now if those gravestones with the appropriate dates in our small village churchyards were wealthier plague victims too as there wouldn't have been so many to bury in small villages.

I'm glad you liked the painting. I remember having one of those Painting by Numbers pictures as a child too. It was of an Alsation's head and on a canvas board. I can't have made a very good job of it as I never kept it and am not even sure I ever finished it!

It's good you are managing to get a few things done AnnG. It all makes less to do another time and keeps you busy. Maybe there will be more news after the weekend.

Mel, will you be doing any wreaths this year? I hope you have enough eggs for your big breakfast tomorrow with the chickens laying less eggs.

It will be strange to not be hearing from our Jane this Christmas. She loved the family get together at home didn't she. I still can't believe she has gone from our lives. I keep thinking I must plant something in the garden to remind me of her.

I have the Asda order to finish next as it is wipe down day tomorrow. :-S So much is out of stock lately, even the usual 4pt skimmed milk we have, no 2pt plastic containers either. It will have to be a dearer brand this time. I am adding a few Christmas non perishables in case they run out by the Christmas order time. I also have this vision that on the Christmas order of a small gammon joint and small turkey joint I will end up with huge ones I can't fit in the freezer as they have run out of small ones by then. I keep having to remind OH that this year we will have 2 weeks food to store as well as Christmas food this year. He normally goes a bit mad and fills the fridge with all the smelly cheeses he likes.

Evening all,

It's been dull here but quite windy so i hung washing out and it was nearly dry when i brought it in this afternoon ,the sun did try it's best to shine but it was late afternoon sun just as it was setting .

Yes Mel you did send the Elf ,he has blue and white jim jams on :-D ill send the photo of the little masks i made tomorrow .

I don't think i ever finished one of the painting by numbers either, the paint took for ever to dry although maybe i painted it on to thickly ,i remember laying it out and i kept touching it with my fingers to see if it was dry .

Ann i think it's a lovely idea of planting some thing in the garden in memory of Jane
I wonder if we will hear some thing when Hannah has the baby she must be getting quite near her time now .
Ann that's bad that they don't have milk for your order that's one of the main things people want .
One early morning and it was early ,one thirty , i saw some lights when i woke for the loo ,it was the milk man !! fancy coming that time of night .
Do you ever see a milkman on your close might be worth catching him and have some milk delivered if its getting hard to get on your order .

Frank hope your resting and the ribs are a bit easier today .

AnnG it's good your trying to keep busy by doing bits in the garden ,i suppose as it's the weekend they won't be doing much in the way of treatment for OH ,it's good though that he has the mobile to keep in touch and as there's no visiting they probably make sure they charge peoples phones for them .

I cooked a nice piece of gammon today so we had tonight with salad and mash potatoes so nice and easy .

Mandy I thought I sent it with Max's lead but I could'nt remember. Getting old. Love to see the masks Mandy. Arn't we silly when the children are involved. can't wait to hear what Lewis says when he see's them. He he he.

Thats a lovely idea to plant a shrub or flower in the garden in memory of our lovely Jane and I think I shall do the same.

I need a piece of gammon for Christmas but I like to pick mine so not sure about getting one from Asda. I did buy a nice big gammon steak at the shop today for a dinner next week. Must make sure I have some pineapple to go with it or peaches. I may ask about one in the local shop as we have a nice sausage maker in Hatherleigh who supplies the shop and we like his sausages and other meat and they are his gammon steaks I have bought in there too.

Seems to me not many of us finished out painting by numbers then....... I must have had about three in my time and not finished any of them. I think it depends on the actual picture if you like it and I did'nt like any of mine.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 21 Nov 2020 22:13

Yes Mel you did send it with the lead.

I had some of those plaster of Paris kits too ,you had to mix the powder with water and pour into the rubber moulds and then gently get the shape out of the mould without breaking it ,I never got one out whole if I remember rightly, so they never got painted as you got some little pots of paint with the kit .

Off to bed now so night night sleep tight

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Nov 2020 22:49

I had Snow Whute and the seven dwarfs and made loads. They were really lovely and I wish I could get those same moulds again. I did make a nativity scene for the church and still have it but the lst time I put it in the church someone broke the head off the shepherd so I ahv'nt put it in there again.

Going in the shower now and then watch a Christmassy film.

Good morning all

At the moment it’s sunny and bright outside and 8 degrees but I don’t think it’s supposed to get much warmer all day here. I hope you all slept well. I had another restless night. I’ve no particular plans for today. Enjoy your day whatever you are doing.

Good morning all. When T phoned last night at almost 10pm he had not had a good day, his back was really bad but one nurse spent a long time with him keeping him comfortable and helped him to sleep. I was concerned that he had not phoned which he guessed. He made a quick call before going down for the night to put my mind at rest. Poor man they don't seem to be able to stop the pain for him or find out what is causing it. He is very weak now I think. And I am very aware, as is our daughter and son, that this is not going to end well. For him I just want the pain to ease. for me I just want to know he is comfortable and looked after.

Unbelievable how things can change in a matter of three months. His golfing friend are shocked, he was always, although the oldest, the fittest.

A grey day here only 6 degrees out there, but dry so far. BBL

Oh Ann, I am so sorry that T is so poorly and you are going through such an anxious time. I know it’s hard but try and stay strong and positive; things may yet turn out better than you think. I’m thinking of you and sending you lots of good vibes and a gentle hug <3

Morning Vera Anng and all,

Another grey day here but a little bit brighter than yesterday. At least its dry at the moment.

I'm sorry too that T is so poorly and hope they can do something to ease the pain soon. Did you ha a good sleep last night girls? and Frank of course.

I have some washing in the machine so I wonder if it will do any drying if I put it out today for a while? It smells so much better if its been out rather than drying it on the airer.

Better get on and get something done today.

Good morning All,

Hope you are all well and safe. <3

I must do some more housework.
Yes, exciting stuff but necessary! :-S

Since I am flying solo on my broomstick now, I can decided what jobs to do first. :-S

I am in charge (in a gentle way of course) :-D

I will be back later, with my broomstick! :-D
Take gentle care
Love Elizabeth, EOS

Morning EOS mind where you park that broomstick you don't want it stolen. :-D

Lovely to see you fly in everyday. ;-)

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 22 Nov 2020 11:30

Lol, EOS, I now have a vision of you whizzing about on your broomstick, skirts flying, stripey stockings on show, one hand holding your hat on and one clinging on to the stick for dear life. I hope you have a comfy saddle :-D

I’ve been wondering who you would resemble - one of the witches from Macbeth perhaps, the Worst Witch, the Wicked Witch of the West? No, you would be a kinder witch so I’ve decided you would be an amalgam of Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg (Terry Pratchett) ;-)

Island Report 22 Nov 2020 14:16

Afternoon all :-D

Bright and fresh here which is a bit more uplifting. I don't do at all well with the dark and damp of the back end of the year, without adding in the covid restrictions, as I'm sure many don't. So I'm afraid I just haven't felt like cyber socialising either.

Thank you all for your lovely comments re my photos. Yes, I love bright colours - big fan of Kaffe Fasset although he can be quite subdued with his pallet at times.

Annx, love your watercolours! The latest misty one is superb, great perspective with the fence - 'By Jove she's got it'! You must be so pleased with yourself. Are you dating and filing them so you can look back and see where you've improved?

Mandy, that's a lovely wreath you've made. Interesting material. I spy a sewing machine, do you do any arty sewing? I ask because I belong to a machine embroidery group on FB - haven't done much mind due to lockdown blues. How's the gingerbread house coming along?

I've finished a couple of sewing jobs which were in the queue and re-knitting a chunky cardigan which I need to unravel again - unless I knit a couple of godets for the sides LOL In my defence, I wanted to add to the length but it looks like i picked up the stitches and knitted them with pins that were too small so it doesn't meet round my bot. It's very odd, I can see that the added length is a much tighter tension than the rest of the cardi.

I hope things are going to start looking up for everyone one soon <3
