Evening all,
Been quite a nice day here but turned very cold late afternoon .
AnnG at last they are doing some thing for your OH and he'll get treatment if its needed ,has any more been said about the op they were going to do ? As Vera said he's in the best place ,take care of yourself and make sure you eat .
Oh goodness Frank not another fall ,your poor ribs ,i hope you soon feel better and can post again ,take care and come back to us soon .
Vera you have been a busy bee but doesn't it feel good when you get things done ,just don't over do it ,it's knowing when to stop isn't it .
Yesterday i did the shop and wipe down and i had an afternoon making some more masks . I made a wreath for son and DIL and one for us and there's lots of the mesh left so i'm doing a couple of smaller ones too. I finished the girls headbands the other day so i walked over to the school and gave them to son so the girls could have them as it's turned a lot colder ,i didn't hang about just handed them over and also gave him some masks for the teachers they loved them and want some more . The girls loved the headbands and want some in another colour ,Chelsea and Katie want a black one each and Lacey wants a dark purple one so some else to keep me busy .
Gill what ever was Sandra buying that was that heavy ,is she buying things ready for her flat ? Hope her back soon feels better .
Ann your fish in the cheese sauce would suit me i love cheese with any thing ,the other day we had Macaroni cheese and i added some ham that was getting near the use by date oh it was lovely as it got all crispy on the top . Hope it wasn't such a marathon at the opticians for OH today ,hopefully he didn't get the trainee again and was in and out a bit quicker .
I see Kirsty's christmas makes is on next week and her christmas programme on after that too, filmed in January well before the first lock down i read .
I'll send a photo of the wreath i made for son and the girls headbands ,sorry i still don't know to send them together so it will be in 2 emails .

Evening All,
At last AnnG! I hope you get the scan results soon and that they find what is causing the trouble for your OH.
Frank not another fall and bashed ribs. I hope you can rest up a bit and come back when you are feeling better. Just take care not to fall again if you can.
Love the wreath Mandy and the colours look good together. You made a neat job of it. That's good the girls like their headbands and the teachers liked their masks........now you have more to do! :-) Nice to hear from you Gill. Sandra will wish she hadn't carried the heavy bags if she makes her back worse won't she. Is it Christmas shopping she is buying? Sorry your OH has had a chest infection and hope he is soon feeling better. Maybe you could celebrate your birthday another day? We would often have to go out for a meal another day on our birthdays because of work commitments.
OH thought he'd only be about 20 minutes at the opticians this time, as they only needed to examine the back of his eyes more closely than usual. No it was one and a half hours again, as the trainee did it!! So all told it took 3 hours to do an eye test, that you'd expect to be quicker during a pandemic to reduce risk. I know they have to spend time wiping down the equipment between customers, but not that long and if they'd done his test all at once there would have been less wiping to do. My test is due as well now but I'm thinking twice about going to Boots for it. A new Specsavers is opening in the Sainsbury's down the road on Monday so it might be worth me going there instead. In Boots you have to walk right through the store to the back and past people so Sainsbury's would be no worse.
Vera you managed to do quite a lot today and I'm glad you felt better for it. Sorry your back is worse for it though. OH had both backache from the opticians awkward seats at the machines and a migraine from the bright lights in his eyes this afternoon. Hope you sleep better tonight.
Mel, we were taught at school that it was the rats that carried the plague too. OH thought they were more sensible about social distancing than now in some ways eg walking down the middle of roads to keep away from people. I never knew they had people watching the houses with plague to make sure people didn't go out as well. We need some of those now too!
Not sure the Christmas idea of 3 days in and out of others houses and meals with up to 10 from 3 households is a good idea. No-one will be checking and drink will be flowing too. It's bound to cause a spike in cases. The Health man for the city here has reaffirmed again that the city's main transmission of cases here is inside homes and visiting others in their homes.

Ha ha! I keep thinking I will see if the light comes on Mel, but have been asleep at the time she usually goes lately. I'm not sure whether she will be doing it now her OH is at home at the moment either. Their car was out some of today so it looks like her OH isn't self isolating. Maybe he just has lots of holiday leave to use up.

Good morning all
It looks bright out but it's very cold; only 2 degrees at the moment - brrr.
I have no plans for today. I’ll just see how the mood takes me. I let my tea get cold this morning so right now I am going to get another cuppa and then have some breakfast.
I hope you all have a good day. Will probably bbl.

Good morning all raining out there but not too cold. I managed 6 hours sleep last night so not bad, took a long time to get to sleep. What do you think of this being able to celebrate Christmas but then being locked down again for 25 days? That is over 3 weeks if anyone hasn't noticed. Is it really worth it?Not everyone has big family parties at Christmas For example my family will be travelling here (if allowed) the weekend after this lockdown. Only daughter and son in law will stay here Grandson is making a flying visit. It is the only way we have of exchanging presents for other parts of the country.
Oh and our fuel allowance is in the bank.

Morning Vera Anng and Frank and all others,
Dull grey and damp here and why is it if we have a reasonable day the next day is wet or just horrid? We never seem to get two days the same lately.
I emailed my cousin in Ohio the day before yesterday but hav'nt heard anything from her so I hope she is ok.I don't hear from her children and don't know if they would notify me if anything happened to her. She's 86 and has a bad back.
Frank you stay safe now today and sit and read yur book and use the stick or frame when you get up to go anywhere. Auntie Mel has spoken!!!!! ;-) ;-) ;-)
Just loved the pics from Island.
My blasted pc has updated again and I can't download my camera. Oh shall have to have a look but he is busy with other things at the mo. I have also got to put all my photos on another disc he bought me last Christmas as they are on the desktop at the mo and are slowing things down.

Afternoon All,
Dull again here, but we had a nice lie in today. OH had to leap into action in his jimjams when the doorbell went to collect a parcel from the postman.
Easy peasy lunch as we were late up. Chicken pieces and a bag of frozen veg to try with a cook in chicken sauce and some microwave rice. I have a zoom meeting with friends later so lunch had to be quick to get.
Frank have you tried rubbing some Deep Heat or other Ibuprofen Gel on your ribs? It takes any swelling down and might make you feel more comfortable and able to sleep. Just take it easy and move around carefully. What book are you reading now?
AnnG Any more news on T? I tried using OH's email with M&S and it all went well........except they have sold out of the pants he wants now!! Any breaks in the lockdowns and the mixing of people in houses means the virus cases will inevitably increase again, especially while it is winter when it thrives best. As soon as this lockdown is lifted people will be rushing in all the shops buying presents (if the restrictions allow it) I think all this lifting the lid on the virus could end up with it out of control as people are not compliant these days and seem to put their own wants before anyone else's needs. If it would save another life, I would happily wait for my Christmas celebration and lunch till we get our vaccines.
That poor woman at the village of Eyam in the Plague programme made me think. In a matter of days she not only lost each of her 5 children and her husband, but also had to dig each of their graves to bury them by herself. That is such suffering, not like the small losses of freedom I have had up to now in my cosy home with food deliveries, internet and tv.
One of our delivery people left a parcel by the front door while we were out yesterday and today another didn't ring the bell and left a packet hanging out of the letterbox. Why the packet wasn't pushed through I don't know, but both things meant deliveries could be easily stolen and this kind of theft is being reported more now.
Mel it is a nuisance those spots on your hands are back. I got substituted a while ago with the Carex Moisture handwash, which I had avoided since getting a tiny blistery rash between some of my fingers with it. Well it has happened again, so I am only using it once a day in the morning to use it up.

Ann they come up as a red dot then turn into a blister. I have had them for years on and off. The carex aloe vera is the only one I can really use to stand the smell of. I bought Palmolive aloe one but the perfume is so much it makes my tongue sting and my lips. I am using just a little of that and not when I am going to eat anything.
Yes that poor woman having to do all that heavy work in those days. She probable only had a wooden shovel so it must have been such hard work.

Annx no, not a lot of news today. He did have another CT scan of his head apparently a small healed bleed showed that will be from March when the garage door came down on his head. Had no effect at the time.
He was very cold when he phoned as for the scan he had to wear just a light covering. Which is odd as it was on his head as far as we know.

At least they are giving him a good look over this time. I wonder if the small blled from all that time ago is causing the headaches as it scars over? Lets hope they can do something about it now they noow he's had a bleed. Did he tell them it must have been from the garage door falling on his head?
Now where's Vera today I hope she is feeling a bit better today.
We also need to see Mandy pop in and it woud be nice if Island came in too. We seem to be getting a bit thin on the ground.

My back has really been playing up today. I probably did a bit too much yesterday but I have to be doing something or I’ll go mad. So today I’ve done a bit of cooking. I had to sit at the table to do some of the preparation, instead of standing at the work surface as usual but I made leek and potato soup and a banana loaf and got tonight’s meal all prepared. The soup was good. We like it smooth and a bit peppery and I made enough for today, tomorrow and a couple of servings for the freezer.
Mel, have you tried any of the Simple Kind to Skin range of liquid soaps? I’ve never used them but they are supposed to be very good.
You were lucky your parcels weren’t stolen Ann. Deliveries seem very haphazard at the moment. I find a lot of drivers put the package on the doorstep and ring the bell but don’t wait to see if you’re in before they drive off. I didn’t see that programme about the Plague but wish I had. Some while ago I went to a lecture given by a chap who had thoroughly researched the Plague in a village just a couple of miles from us and it was so interesting. It was amazing the amount of information he had found in really old records.
Unfortunately, Frank, ribs can take a while to recover. Just try and rest as comfortably as you can and take things very carefully.
Any more news from OH yet, AnnG? It such a shame you can’t visit as that would probably be good for both of you.
I’m not sure what I think about the possible Christmas easing of Covid restrictions. All the things that are being talked about are only possibilities and I would have thought it’s a bit early for definite decisions yet. After all lockdown is supposed to end on 2 December and it was always possible that further easing of restrictions might take place in December anyway, depending on how the situation goes. We have been careful all along and of course we will stick to whatever the rules are at Christmas but we would find it very hard not to see our daughter and granddaughter as planned. Even that would be a much smaller Christmas group than usual. Christmas to us means family time, food and presents are nice but not important. Family is important. Neither OH nor I have spent a Christmas without a large family gathering since the day we were born. One thing that concerns me is that I think quite a few people will break the rules if the restrictions are still so tight and that might be worse in the long run than giving them limits that they will stick to. I don’t think I’ve explained myself very well but whatever happens we’ll abide by the rules whether we like it or not.
EDIT. I started this a while ago and didn’t get it posted. It looks as though the hospital are beginning to check your OH over at last AnnG which is not before time.

Evening all ,
It's been a dreary old day and i see it's now raining when i let Max out or should i say i opened the door to let him out and he backed away when he saw the rain .
You've just got to let the ribs heal and take it easy Frank just be careful you don't trip again .
I hope your cousin is ok Mel ,didn't you have a wait to hear from her last time you e mailed her . You asked about my wreath , mine is red white and blue with red baubles in it ,i might add a bit of ribbon to it ,i've also done son a smaller one in red and white again i need to add some more bits to that one too . I have made more masks today and i also made some tiny ones for the naughty elves :-D I've made Chelsea's headband in pink and now doing the purple one for Lacey ,not looking forward to doing the black ones as black wool is not good on the eyes .
Ann when we've had any parcels come they ring the door bell and by the time you get to the door they are half way down the path ,i suppose as there's no signing for parcels it's what they do now .
Oh Ann i remember you saying about the garage door coming down on OH's head ,perhaps he did a bit more than you both thought ,do you think they will look into that a bit more as he's had these bad heads . Sounds as if they are now beginning to check OH over at long last .
Vera we had leek and potato soup today i made a pot yesterday and we finished it today it was just right with this cold weather .
Saturday tomorrow again where has the week gone .

Sorry to hear your back has played up Vera, but you still managed to do a lot. Your soup sounds delicious and leftovers for another time too. Where there's a will there's a way as they say. OH's has been bad too with the awkward sitting position at the opticians equipment seats.
That's good they seem to be doing more now AnnG. It seems that bump from the garage door did more than he thought if it caused a small bleed.
Mandy, you need to tell Max he is a Labrador and should love getting wet! lol. :-D You have been busy with the wreaths and headbands and masks. I bet the children will love the masks for the naughty elves, what a good idea! I have some black wool for a knitting pattern but am not attempting it with these dark nights either. Yes, our delivery people have rung the bell and waited down the drive till we open the door until this week too. The usual Royal Mail chap always calls OH by his name and is really friendly. I think maybe everyone is taking on extra staff for Christmas deliveries and some are new people. OH found a wad of letters including a card hanging out of the letterbox today and they still had a rubber band round them. It was a different chap to usual as I peeped out of the window as I heard him speaking (mobile).
I don't think I answered when you asked if the picture I painted was a made up one. What the teacher does is give us a picture we can print off to look at and we (try) to keep up with her and paint with her as she paints it and demonstrates how to do it. She always tells us we can modify it or add things if we want.

Thank you Elizabeth I hope you have a lovely weekend .
Ann your paintings just get better and better I love snowy paintings ,I love your trees the colours and the bark on the trees is brilliant.
I remember having painting by numbers kits at Christmas and the having to wait until one lot of paint was dry before doing the next colour it seemed to take for ever and I use to try doing the next colour before it was dry and they would blend in together and spoil the the whole thing . .
