A really beautiful morning here! Mr.Fg and I are planning to potter down to the beach and see how things are looking?!!!
We had such a lovely w/end with DD and her family so much so that we stayed an extra night and got home yesterday early evening! It was DGS's birthday on Sunday, DiL's is on the 27th, and M.Fg's on 31st ! On Sunday DS and family arrived for the day! We weren't aware that they were coming so it was a lovely surprise! DD and D.SiL did a barbecue which was undercover as it wasn't a very good day weatherwise, but very enjoyable! The dogs (4!) all behaved very well. A Welsh Terrier, Abby, a miniature Dachshund, and a wire haired Dachshund!! The Dachs belong to DD, the W.Terrier to to DS!
It all seems a bit quiet here, but it's nice to be home!! We shall need some shopping so must remember our masks!
Hope everyone has a good day!

Good morning to you all,

Another terrible nights sleep. (if you can call it SLEEP) Sat with Ros and watched a bit of T.V. until 10.00 pm The radio was rubbish, whoever was on was playing this horrible loud music that the youngsters seem to love, so that went off, and I tried to settle down. Was still awake when Ros came in, nd still awake at THREE. Then knowing Ros had to be up for a hospital appointment, I only dozed until 7.00 am. Was got up and made the tea. I followed her out and had mine in the armchair.

Good old Lewis, He forgot to do the FRONT LAWN yesterday, So this morning, I washed out the Wheelie bins, and food caddy. Left them on their sides to dry out, and got the mower out. Trying to lift it over the boarder, I tripped and the only thing to grab was the PALM TREE. Of course the thongs are very sharpe, and scratched my hand and arm. Anyway I managed to get the lawn cut, and get the mower back over the flower bed.

Ros has just returned from the Hospital. She has another water infection, and has been prescribed with more ANTI-BIOTICS. A young nurse was kind enough to go to the Pharmacy to get the prescription, as it's miles to walk to the dispensary.

We have a CHAIR BED that Ros and Martine cleaned, and put in the Garage. Ros called at the Heart Foundation Shop, to see if they would like it. ONLY IF IT HAS A FIRE CERTIFICATE. So I will have to check that. If not I can see that ending up at the tip. If I can find someone to take it.

Not sure what will be on the menu tonight, I think Ros can bring in a couple of READY MEALS, as I don't feel like standing doing veg, The cold pork was rubbish last night. I did Jacket Potatoes with cheese and baked curried beans. Ros made some coleslaw to go with it. We both threw the pork away, chewy as hell. Why I do not know.

Well girls, I am going to have a coffee nd sit in the conservatory with my book. I might even grab a few zzzz to catch up from last night. Stay safe. xxxx

Good you had a nice time with the family FG and the dogs too. They sound adorable.

Half way through the wipe down. They sent things we don't really want and I only got the email after he had been so could'nt send things back. He did'nt even ask me which they usually do.

AnninGlos Report 21 Jul 2020 12:37

I am halfway through mine as well Mel, left some stuff to do this afternoon. I am annoyed as there is a pack of mince 500G which I halve and freeze and a pack of Haddock fillets both of which have todays date on them. If they were in the shop they would be reduced. I don't know if I have to complain or DiL if it is her then I have emailed her. I guess it is as she is the one who orders and pays.

There was one substitution that was pointed out and was fine and one that was not pointed out but will do, and DiL input one thing wrong but it will do.

Frank, it was almost guaranteed that you would trip lifting a heavy mower you are silly to try. Pleased that you were not hurt more badly anyway. Sorry you had a bad night again. Poor Ros, have they actually tried to find what is causing the water infections. All this antibiotics is not good for her ecentually her body will become immune to them and they won't work.

Changed the bed and done the wipe down and made lunch washed up and now I am going out to help oh put all the boards back on his workshop.

I had a lot of subs this time I had a bag of iceberg lettuce instead of my two Romaine ones and cheese and chive dip instead of cheese and onion filler. Thick sliced ham instead of the Beverian smoked ham and organic potatoes instead of baby new pots. We don't eat a great deal of potatoes so these will have to last until I cook something I can put them with. we usually have lamb chops but not bought them this week. They did'nt have his cherry yogs so he bought greek style with honey in a huge pot and 4 peach ones. The fridge is full to bursting.

Good afternoon all, Well thats me done for today.

I have watered all the front garden, pots under the lounge window, pots and hanging baskets down the side of the bungalow. I have also done all the watering on the patio and down the greenhouse and veg patch.

I have finished my book, which didn't conclude as I expected. Will find another to start tomorrow.

Ros has just rung to say, she is sitting in Carolyns car waiting for her to come out of the dentists. I don't know if they are finished shopping to not. They did go out around 10.30 this morning, so if they haven't, they should have. lol lol

Now do I treat myself to an early BEER or a COT. I think a COT with a piece of fruit cake will go down just right.

Glad you all got your shopping delivered and wiped down, even if you did get subs. Those Sell By Dates should never have been included in the delivery. I expect it's one way of them getting rid of O.O.D produce. but as you say, that would have been on the reduced shelve. I would certainly complain, you never know, they might send you a voucher. But don't hold your breath.

Ros is just home, so BYE for now.

Afternoon all

Bright and sunny, I can hear the grandchildren playing over the back, their parents must be back at work now, it's nice to hear them laughing and playing.

Sorry to hear you didn't have a good nights sleep Frank, hope you have a better one tonight. Fancy carrying the lawn mower, thankfully you didn't hurt yourself to much, please be careful. Have you thought of making a little gap in the border with a flag stone so you can wheel the lawn mower onto the lawn, it would save you having to pick it you and chance another fall? Sorry to hear Ros has another water infection, it must get her down having them all the time. I hope she feels better soon.

I don't have any decent soil I could use on my toms Mel, I'd already asked OH if we had any of the good compost left over as I was thinking the same as you and could top the pots up, but unfortunately we've used it all. I did find some tomato feed though, so all the toms have had that today. Hopefully it'll help bring them along a bit quicker. It sounds like you've got a completely different food delivery than the one you ordered with all the substitutes, hopefully you'll enjoy them. I like cherry yogurts to, but wouldn't of like the greek style with honey as I don't like honey. At least you have a full fridge now.

Love all your pictures on your blog AnnG, what a lovely garden you have. The weather looked nice for your walk, much better than all the rain we've had recently.

I'm still plodding on with my sorting Ann, I'd almost finished a big chest of drawers yesterday, but lost the will, as you put it lol, so have one small drawer left to do on that one, then I can make a start on the other's. I've packed up a box which will be put in the loft once the final draw is done. At least I can close the drawers I've already done now. What a good idea making a gardening pinny out of a pair of jeans, the things people think of that work a treat. Did you know, it's suppose to be good luck if you see three butterflies together? I came across a load of superstitions I must of printed off years ago in one of the drawers, it made for interesting reading.

I see you had a lovely time away FG, the dogs sound lovely. You have a lot of birthday's this month. I hope everyone has a lovely special day and the weather stays nice for them all. Happy belated birthday to DGS.

Well, I'd better get back to my sorting. Going to grab a drink while it's still reasonably nice outside, it's coming over a bit cloudy now, but thankfully still warm, so I'll drink it outside and watch the birds for a while before tackling the final drawer.

Maybe the following is why they let Ragwort go on growinf away from horses etc.

"Ragwort is one of the most divisive plants in the countryside. It contains chemicals that are toxic to livestock and has been blamed for many deaths of horses and other animals. Yet, conservationists say it's a native wildflower vital for pollinating insects!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Jul 2020 22:10

Yes it is a good pollinater as its an open flower like a daisy but all parts of the plant are poisonous and I can remember picking it as a pretty flower when I was a child. Children are always touching their mouths and it can cause bad effects. It is also Perennial and can be increased easily from root cuttings.

I keep telling the woman over the big house that there is some growing out the back to u s and she has horses and rides them round here sometimes.

After helping oh wiht the boards on the side of the workshop I went up the border. Cut down the dephimium that had finished flowering and gave it a good mulch. Dug out more bit of twitch that had come up where I had missed some and mulched the peonies too and the clematis's. Cleared a bit more round the back of the delphy and mulched the rose New Dawn. I am going to cut that one right back in the winter as its just not right and a lot of it looks dead but has some growth on the top.

Going in the shower now so I will be all nice and clean for the clean bed tonight. Oh has had his before dinner.

Quite bright hear this morning but not really sunny, although it was at 5am. :-D

Morning Anng and all,

We have a sunny morning here today wispy white cloud in the blue sky.

Woke with a neck ache which may have been caused by looking under plants yesterday to dig out weeds and cut off the delphy. Its all creaky when I move my head so it may be a day of fromt he border. See how it goes during the day. I have a lot of washing to do and oh informs me it is going to rain tomorrow.

F & C tonight for dinner so if I could get up there today a nice easy dinner tonight.

So its T's birthday tomorrow then? Hope you have a nice time at the arboretum and it dos'nt rain.

Morning all,

Overcast here this morning ,just stopped for a coffee I've been weeding out on the front garden and hope I can do a little bit more I don't think we should have any rain today.

Colin dropped the car in for its MOT and son brought him back , so we'll wait for a phone call to see what if anything needs doing .
We did have the six month extension on the MOT but decided that we would have it done if the garage could do it ,we'll give it a good sanitize down when it comes back .

We had another lovely crab from the fish man yesterday, today I'm going to make a nice Quiche.

Morning all

Cloudy here but the sun is trying it's best to shine through the clouds, it looks like we've had rain in the night, so the plants will be happy.

It sounds like you've been busy today Mandy with the weeding, we did our front garden last week, but with the sunshine and showers it's going to need doing again soon, but for now it looks okay. I hope nothing needs doing for your MOT and it passes with flying colours. I see you've had another crab, I do love fish, but OH's not to keen, he only likes battered cod.

I hope your neck ache eases soon Mel, try not to do to much today or you might make it worse, the garden will still be there tomorrow if it doesn't rain. Enjoy your fish and chips tonight.

Enjoy you day out at Batsford Arboretum tomorrow for your OH's birthday AnnG, I hope the weather is nice and you both have a good time.

Well, I didn't get around to doing the final drawer of sorting yesterday so I'm going to do that now then settle down and catch up with a few programmes I've recorded.

Good morning to you all, haven't you all been busy.

Yesterday Ros bought LAMB SHANKS in gravy and root veg, Potato gratin and pickled Red Cabbage. It was delicious. None left on either plate.

It's F & C tonight, so no cooking. Ros has washed her hair this morning, she is sitting on th bed drying it. I'm all showered and dressed in BLUE SHORTS and a blue short sleeved shirt.I'm at the nurse for 3.30 to have my ears syringed,so DON'T SHOUT AT ME. lol lol

Nice bright sunny day here, so I am pleased I watered last night. Alexia says there is no rain due in Blisworth today.

I will ask you all before I do this.I have a couple of very nice childhood memories, that I would like to share with you, but you might find them a bit BORING, thats why I am asking, before I post them.

As I speak the SUN has disappeared behind a BIG BLACK CLOUD. So we could see some rain before to long. See you all later. xxxx

AnninGlos Report 22 Jul 2020 12:07

Well that is the in between shop done, supposed to be for veg but we seemed to find other things we needed (wanted) finally spent just over £50 and the order yesterday was £116. One thing is sure, if we go into sudden lockdown or have a seige we will be fine. There was a bottle of gin in that and meat and sausages for Saturday in case it is nice enough to barbecue. some (mostly our age) people are really not good at socially distancing though, one in particular was darting around all over the place around the veg, makes it very difficult, she didn't have a mask on either. Some of these people are going to get a shock on Friday when they have to wear a mask.

I now have two on line shops (by me not son) for 31st Jult and 10 August.

I found it spooky when doing the first on line shop when I finished what I was adding at the time a box came up with, "you may have forgotten something you normally order. Hovis 50/50 X3"  Now I have never done an order myself before so they must connect to the address not the name of the person doing the order. And yes I had forgotten to put the loaves in.

Oh Mel stiff necks are horrible aren't they, have to got any heat cream that you can put on, or a heat pad. Try not to hold it too stiff but equally don't do too much either. Hope it eases soon.

Jane I hope you have a lovely day out with Hannah, sounds as if you are having a nice time with them living nearer. Is Hannah not working at the moment (furloughed? You will feel better for a hair cut and it might be a good idea to have it cut short, then if you do lose it it won'e feel so different. It may be that it just thins if the cap helped.

Mandy, you are making me jealous again with your fresh crab Mmm!!

Gill, have you finished that drawer yet? I have just been through my holiday clothes wardrobe and found a couple of things that I am not going to wear if we don't go abroad again (which is almost 100% certain) but I still couldn't make myself throw all the things out (in case I need them :-D)
