Jane Report 8 Jul 2020 17:32

Back home again now. I forgot to take my steroids yesterday which is so bad so that meant I had to have a larger dose via IV before the chemo. Then the pipe from the cold cap leaked the freezing liquid down the back of my neck so that had to be started again with a new cap.Anyway at least today is done and dusted until 3 weeks time.
I think this next week or so will tell if my hair will start coming out.

Mel I can’t believe your hair is down to your knees!!!!!!! You should give it a good chop and it will probably strengthen up a bit and also maybe thicken up too.

Enjoy your Runners Island.I am very jealous as runners are my favourite veg and I would have them everyday if I could.Have you tried them cooked and then cold with tinned chopped tomatoes and Garlic.Yummy

Ann that sounded real nasty trouble in that village near you.Knives machetes etc!!! They are like wild animals.Good job there were lots of arrests.

I am going to try one of those Yorkshire Pudding dinners in a minute
The chicken one with cubed potatoes chipolatas and tiny stuffing balls.I meant to have it the other day but didn’t have the appitite.I don’t think I shall manage it all by any means but will give it a good go

Just to say congratulations to your granddaughter Vera! What a brilliant result. My dgd is in her second year, well she was! goodness knows when she will be able to resume studying normally! She hopes to go into teaching eventually, but who knows!!
My rather thick hair certainly needs cutting!! I'm still slightly hesitant so may leave it a week or two, if we're not back in lockdown by then! I used to have long hair years ago, dh was quite put out when I had it cut, but he isn't bothered now!!
Good luck with your treatment Jane, I do hope all goes well for you.
I've got one of those karchers for window cleaning. We have large windows and having one of these has made so much difference.
Spaghetti for us tonight! nice and easy!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Jul 2020 18:22

We have quite large windows too FG and patio doors. I just wish I could reach the top window thats in the loft as I don't think that has ever been cleaned since it was put in.

Oh came in so all cleaning stopped. We had a cuppa and a little cake as I shall be going to get the F & C's in a mo. They are there in the village till 7pm and if I go late there's no one else there.

When I fed Robby this afternoon I have about 6 worms on my hand and he came and stayed on my hand and ate the lot and still stood there loking to see if any more were about to appear and then he pecked my little finger twice and it was'nt gentle!! I must get oh to take a pic as its hard holding the camera and your hand out at the same time which is what I did with the other pics I sent and he's not too keen on the camera.

Thank you all for your congratulations for granddaughter. She deserves her First as she worked very hard. I don’t know if you remember that last year she worked in June and July with a Theatre in Education group going round Norfolk schools. Norfolk commissioned the same again this year and extended the contract to include another Shakespeare play to go to secondary schools. Of course lockdown and school closures put an end to that but the group are putting stuff online and have asked her to join them again, so she is currently learning 10 Shakespeare monologues.

I’m pleased to see you back home after another session Jane. It sounds as though it’s been a bit of a kerfuffle today with the extra steroids and the leaky cap. I hope the after-effects aren’t too bad this time round. Did you enjoy your dinner?

I knew your hair was long Mel but down to your knees!!! Isn’t it a pain washing it and getting it dry? Still, think of all the money you have saved in hairdressing costs. If you had it cut a bit, say to waist length, you would still have plenty of hair but it would probably improve the condition a lot. Btw, that’s a tame little Robbie in your photos. He’ll probably be your friend for life now.

Did you enjoy your mixed media lesson Ann? We’ll all expect to see pictures of the lovely things you’ve made. That sounds some brawl in your nearby village. When we were younger there was fighting but they were mostly fist fights. Now they seem to carry such dreadful weapons around with them. You do have to wonder how they have been brought up.

I like your thinking regarding dust Island. You’re a woman after my own heart. Was it Quentin Crisp who said you don’t need to do any housework at all. After the first 4 years the dirt doesn’t get any worse?

I intended to make a Chicken Chasseur tonight but just couldn’t be bothered so OH is doing eggs, beans and chips. He’s just shouted out that he’s cooking the eggs so I’d better go and eat.

CONGRATULATIONS to your Grandaughter on achieving a first.Vera ,you must all be very proud of her .

Oh Jane that must have been a shock to have the freezing liquid down the back of your neck sounds bad enough having it on the head ,that was good they sorted the steroid problem out .
I hope you don''t feel so bad with any after-effects ,will it make a difference with them having to give you the higher does of steroids

It does feel strange with no hair in my neck and coming down over my face now but so nice to see my ears again :-D
I saw her coming up the path so i opened the gate and door so she could just walk straight in ,she sanitized her hands and had mask and face shied on ,she cut Colin's first and then washed her hands and sanitized again before cutting mine ,i had washed Colins hair before she came so it was still wet and i washed mine too so she didn't have that job to do .
When she went i opened the door and gate so she didn't need touch them, booked the next cut for seven weeks time .

Lovely to see little Robbie feeding Mel but he mustn't bite the hand that feeds
him naughty boy :-D hope you enjoyed your F&C

It's been raining here for most of the day ,we did see the sun for a few minutes and the ground dried out but the rain was soon back.

I think Frank said he's home tomorrow ,i hope he's been ok this time with no mishaps .

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Jul 2020 20:54

Gosh Jane that leaky cap must have been a shock ging down your back like th at. I hope you feel ok after the steriods. Fancy forgetting to take them but with the birthday I can quite see why.

Yes Mandy we did enjoy our F & C thank you. They are always nice from down the van inthe village and now he has a card reader whichis good if you can't get cash out. When are we going to see a pic of the new veg trugs?

Well it did'nt brighten up at all today and we had that fine misty rain all day. Oh worked in the garage sorting his tool out so he was out of the weather in there.

Vera I wash my hair over the bath and use the shower head thats on there. My bath sheet dos'nt really cover it anymore as when I put it on there is always some hanging out the bottom. It is very fine hair and dos'nt take long to dry it so not a problem really and I only do it every two weeks.

Hope Frank had a nice time away and a safe journey home if he comes home tomorrow.

The trouble with having such a high dose of steroids might mean I could be awake half the bl@@dy night.Im usually asleep by now but no sign of tiredness yet :-S I am in bed but feeling quite wired. At least I have a good book to read on my kindle.A nice psychological thriller just up my street.
Plus I can stay awake if Chris and James go to bed and wait for Thomas to come in(if he does)He will be soaked.
Did I tell you next door have got 5 Aylesbury Ducks? Lovely looking birds an d so funny as they all stay in a bunch when out and about. They don’t seem to go far from their pen. Took a pic just now so will send it.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 8 Jul 2020 21:22

You certainly don’t sound tired Jane hope you don’t struggle to sleep now. Love the sound of the ducks.

Mel gosh I couldn’t leave my hair two weeks. Now it is grey it doesn’t get as greasy as it used to but it needs washing at least every five days.

Just read back and I forgot to comment Vera on your neighbour. I wonder if there are things in the different shops she likes. But it is a bit mean when people can’t get slots.

Jane

Jane Report 9 Jul 2020 00:51

Still awake :-S Have been downstairs made a cup of tea ,ate a bag of cheesy wotsits, wiped down the worktops and let Thomas out.He must be mad as it is so wet.Anyway that is him out now until the morning. What to do now I wonder.
I think I might have to have a couple of Gaviscon as those Wotsits are sitting a bit heavy even though there is nothing to them.

Vera I managed about half of that Yorkshire Pudding Dinner until I started with the dreaded reflux and I didnt want to bring up what I had managed to eat. After a while I had a nice slice of the fruit cake and a mug of hot milk. That went down well :-D

I will go now as I will start to talk a load of rubbish.I can feel it in my bones LOL
SWeet dreams everyone.Hope I finally manage to have some. zzzzzzzzz

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Jul 2020 09:11

Morning all,

Raining again this morning so miserable.

David we had a traveling shop when I first moved down here he had a van with a sliding side door and in there were all deep shelves in the back some shelves and the veg on the floor. He had most things you asked for and always came in and had a cuppa after our shop. He retired and nobody came out here anymore.

When I lived in suffolk we had the same sort of thing a big lorry this time with all sorts of things. A prper travelling shop which topped right outside my cottage. Same with the library, walk out the gate across the road onto the green and in the library. So convienient.

flappergirl Report 9 Jul 2020 09:34

Did you manage to sort out your facebook photo David as I was wondering if the info from people on here was helpful?
Not much of a day here so not sure what we shall be doing!!

Island

Island Report 9 Jul 2020 09:37

Morning All

I'm beginning to take this weather personally :-| I expect it will be 'too darn hot' next.

Jane, I'm sorry you are having to have chemo and wish you well.
I've recently had my meds changed to a steroid one and make sure I have it first thing with a cuppa and biscuit as I've only just got back into the sleep routine I know and love.
I'm a bit partial to the cheesey wotsit myself :-D

It's chucking with rain now :-| :-| I fear for the outdoor tomatoes.

Make the most of being indoors again everyone
I think I'll start with half an hours crochet to limber me up for a bit of tidying - actually that is a bonus with visiters not being allowed :-D

PS the runner beans were lovely :-D

SuffolkVera Report 9 Jul 2020 09:45

Morning all

Same miserable, grey, wet day here. It’s not actually raining at the moment but it looks as though it will be again soon.

Sorry you had such a sleepless night Jane. You’ll have to catch up on the zzzz during the day.

I had a feeling Frank said he would be returning today. Safe journey home Frank & Ros.

Not sure what I am doing today, probably just pottering about.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 9 Jul 2020 10:09

Good morning and a safe journey to Frank if he is travelling today.

Jane I hope you managed to get to sleep in the end, you will sleep for a day then!! I loved the fact that you were wiping down to pass the time!!

It is quite warm outside when the sun comes out and it has done a bit, very damp under foot so rained in the night, also windy again. I think this is the tail end of storm Edmund or Edward or somebody beginning with E. Hope the weather improves a bit soon. We are paying for those lovely days at the start of lockdown when all those people were complaining it was too hot.

Island what are you making with your crochet? Glad you enjoyed your beans. Ours were very late going in but do now have flowers on them (white flowers).

Vera now the excitement of having our hair cut is over what is there to look forward to next I wonder?
sounds like a pottering day all round.

Saw this morning there are two new cases in our borough which doesn't fill me with confidence.

This morning we have Charles (the lad who fixed our leaking conservatory roof) coming round to look at our patio door with has misted and also a side opening window. He will be well disinfected when he comes into the conservatory!!!

David, yes as FG says, did you fix the photos on your facebook.
We had a coach like that many years back when we lived in Essex, in other places we have had a large van that was also a shop.

Mel I have the poppy seeds ready to post to you.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Jul 2020 11:23

O thats lovely thank you Anng. Do you think I should plants them now or wait a bit? I suppose I could try some as they have to grow a year before they flower don't they?

Island I am going to pm you. What are you crocheting? Mandy does a lot of crochet, she's just done a lovely bag for one of her grand children. Dolls clothes for another in sets which were really lovely.

I am going to do a bit of tidying too today and dust my desk and put my pills in the boxes.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 9 Jul 2020 11:34

Decided to have a go at the drawers in my office. Big mistake to open the bottom drawer, stuff in there not been used for many years I think, mostly craft stuff from a previous card making era!!!!

Mel there are plenty of seeds to experiment with. If you think about it the seld seeded ones will be sown now.

Good morning Ann, Flappergirl, and all the others.
Unfortunately I have been unable to remove the two squares
from around the heads of Ellen and I. Pity, it's a good photograph.
I think the squares were put there by a component of MS Office.
Easy to put on, but how do you remove it ?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 9 Jul 2020 12:08

Were the squares there before you put the photo on facebook David. Why do you think it was done by a part of Office?

Started to tidy and found an old newpaper cutting from when I worked at the PDSA back in the 60's. Put it in the album mum made of the pictures of me in the papers and got lost in the photos in there and looked right through them all. Lovely one of my pony and I as I hav'nt many of Little Red.
