Afternoon all
Lots of us doing all sorts of crafts Island. Have you thought of starting a painting thread, I'm sure they'll be lots of like minded people. We've had a few painters on here so I'm sure they can help. I'd love to paint, but I haven't got a clue where to start. I can draw a mean stick man though LOL :-D :-D :-D
Flappergirl, I think one night away for now is a good idea, until it's made easier to understand. I've noticed a lot of the rules are unclear, so you're not on your own, but for peace of mind staying one night maybe the way to go. Enjoy your time away.
It's gone really dull here after some nice sunshine, so I think we maybe in for some rain soon.
Sorry to hear you had a bad night Ann, I didn't get to sleep until almost 7am, needless to say I slept all day, so will probably have trouble getting off to sleep tonight. I hope we both have better nights sleep though. Your treats for your birthday sound lovely, it's my OH's birthday this month, I'd like to make it special for him, but am limited for ideas as he might be in work and if he isn't we're still not going out yet. I might make a nice meal for him and bake him a birthday cake. Luckily I already have his birthday present and card. I hope you manage to keep your hair appointment or if not, have another one really soon, I know how long you're been waiting.
Did the rain stop so you could go up the border Mel, it's much better than the dreaded ironing. OH and I moved a few more pots around and put the Fuchsia's in the bigger border for a bit of colour. It looks much better now.
I haven't had chance to catch up with all the posts so hope everyone is okay, our meal is ready so I better go and dish up.

Lowry did very well with his stick men Gill!! lol. :-D I wish I had a few of his to sell.
Hi Flappergirl and Island. How nice to be handy for a beach, but a worry when the hordes have descended in this pandemic. I always fancied a courtyard garden too with table and chairs and plants on the walls. The rules aren't as clear as they could be but even one night away will be a nice break and chance to see your family.
Well I was busy getting car insurance quotes when I suddenly panicked as I realised 3 years had passed and I needed to renew my driving licence by my birthday!! What a game looking it up as it appears they should notify you months before and I haven't received anything. One site said in that circumstance you needed to complete a driving licence application, but that you could only do it online if you have a valid passport (I don't!) It seemed to imply I needed a fresh photo too. Eventually I found something that referred specifically to coronavirus action (either yougov or dvla) but again said to have docs ready including a passport! I decided to see what happened when I got to that part and luckily you could ignore it if you didn't have a passport. I printed off the confirmation so I have proof, so that is that done. Phew! I expect they are all behind both with sending out forms and licences so goodness knows when I will hear. The cheapest car insurance with most of the extras including protected NCB came out at £246 with the RAC so I may go with that as I thought it wasn't bad for a Peugeot RCZ.
So no crafting again today and after little sleep last night I think I will turn in now. OH's back is aching as he had to empty the dregs and get inside one of the water butts to tighten the tap to stop it leaking. I should have been there with my camera!
:-D

Hello Island. Good to see you. There are a few talented arts and crafts people on the thread. I’m not one of them lol. Donkey’s years ago I used to knit and sew a bit but not these days.
Awful weather this afternoon, a couple of thunderstorms and lots of really heavy rain showers. Some of our poor plants look as though they have been flattened. I hope they recover.
I’m not at all surprised you are confused by the Covid rules, Flappergirl. I don’t understand why you can apparently meet in a group of 6 with each person from a different household but you can only meet in a group of 7 if they are only from two households. That makes no sense to me.
I’m really cross with myself. When I ventured to the shops yesterday I forgot that I need to pick up my meds so I’ll have to go in to town again tomorrow.
I hope you all have a good night. See you tomorrow

Glad you said about your driving licence Ann OH needs to renew his and hasn’t had notification either. Was it the DVLA site you went on. We will have to look at that tomorrow. I did remind him a few days ago but....
Vera oh dear that was a nuisance, another journey now. Shame you couldn’t get out in the garden today do hope that July is not going to be a wash out.

This is where my search ended up AnnG. I don't know why but it took a while to find it so the link may save time.

Did'nt do any ironing or border in the end but mucked about in the shed and picked my strawberries.
Welcome Island and Flappergirl. I hope you both continue to pop into our thread with some welcome chatter.
Vera what a nuisance when you forget something. I did today too with my script from the local shop. I forgot thye now shut at 4pm instead of the usual 6pm and thought about it at 3.15pm then oh asked me for some souble sided sellotape and it went out of my mind completely and by the time I remembered it was 4.01pm. I rang them but there was no answer so I have to get up early tomorrow and go and pick it up and get oh some ciggies as he has been working outside and then he smokes more. We don't smoke indoors.
Feel really tired tonight so may have an early night for me.

Morning all,
Another Friday has hit us again and it only seems like I was wathcing Monty a day or so ago.
Alan Titchmarsh's program was quite good over the last 6 weeks but can you imagine how much they all spent on doing their gardens especially the girl who bought the wall planters and the metal planters and all those plants. Even Alan sent them each a growing trough and they cost around £109 each. Yes some good ideas but most people could'nt spend what they have on their gardens.
Hope you all had some sleep last night.
Sending love to Jane. <3 <3

Just a PS! Talked to daughter last night and we have arranged a one night stay on the 18th! This coincides with a family birthday, well, nearly, so we are chuffed! something to look forward to, unless we go back into lockdown! these days you can't be certain of anything!!! Annx, we live quite a way back from the beach,at the top of a steep hill! so we can't see or hear the wretched people who seem incapable of staying away! Not many people park here either as it is a steep climb back to the car from the front which seems to keep the hordes away!!

Morning All,
Slept really well and feel much brighter today. The leg is still a bit sore from the cramp. I must get my order finished this morning, OH keeps adding to it. I broke a plate and he broke a glass yesterday so I might see if I can find some plain white plates on line as we need some.
That's a bonus being a little way from the beach Flapper girl. You avoid the crowds but the beach is handy for you.
We had some rain earlier but I can hear a mower so it must have stopped. I have something to look at for the hospital and the zoom meeting later so better get showered.
I see the city will have more police than on New Year's Eve this weekend and extra Transport Police at the railway station. I noticed 3 cars at the Asian house yesterday which seemed a lot for lockdown, but maybe something needed repairing?
Mel how is your tum on the new antis? I find I am getting easily distracted and faff about now so must try and continue using this time to do a bit more sorting and shredding etc each day as there's plenty still to do, It does help if you get a good sleep.

Ann I am just about to take the first one now!! I only just collected them from the shop.
I had a look at the leaflet before taking one (4 times a day) and it said if I take any of the following and statins are on there so I will have to ring the doc to make sure its ok to take them. I take the statin at night before bed so better ask to be on the safe side as it was'nt my doctor I spolke to by he should have looked at what I am taking.
Nice to see Flappergirl posting and looking forward to her visit. We all like to know where people live as its interesting to others and good too that your not to close to the sea and get people parking outside your house.

Afternoon to you all, Not the best July day out there. Very windy, and clouds everywhere.
Ros has popped to pick up some medicine from the Drs, then to Towcester, to cancel her hair appointment, as she can't get through on the phone. Then pick up a few bits from Tesco.
I had a good nights sleep last night, only got out once. Was up at 8.00 am. The nurse rang at 9.00 am regarding my Testosterone injections. At the moment I an rubbing in Testrogel each day. Small packets of the stuff, which I think I will continue with, rather than the injections, which HURT for a couple of days after.
We are all packed and ready to load into Jo's car on Sunday. I just hope the weather is better than here, so at least I can sit outside.
Barry is here this afternoon to trim the bushes (WEATHER PERMITTING) Rain and Electric don't mix well. lol lol He would be in for a right old SHOCK. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Haircut tomorrow afternoon. Boy do I need it. :-D :-D :-D We will then pop into one of our eateries, which will be open, just up the road from the hairdressers. So no need for a Takeaway in the evening.
I hope the LOCKDOWN in Leicester isn't going to affect you too much Ann. I believe Bedford is going into LOCKDOWN soon also.
I trust you are all safe and sound, and getting things done, that you need to. I'm back to my book and a coffee now, so will see you later. xxxx

Afternoon all
Dull here today and not as warm as it has been.
I didn't think of Lowry Ann, maybe I could be the next Lowry LOL. Pleased to see you had a good nights sleep, it makes such a difference doesn't it? I see you've sorted your driving licence and insurance out. We found Age UK have good prices on Insurance, if you remember I saved us almost £1000 switching to them. I'm thinking of seeing what they can do for our house and buildings insurance as we've been with the same people for years. It sounds like it's going to be chaos in Leicester over the weekend if people don't stick to the rules. Do you think people might try to go out of Leicester to pubs that are open elsewhere, surely the police will stop them if they try.
So you're all packed and ready for the off then Frank. I hope the weather is nice so you can go outside, just be careful and remember social distancing around other people in the street. Will you be able to go home if Bedford goes into lockdown.
Have you spoke to the doc about your meds yet Mel, good job you read the leaflet. How is your arm now, are the antibiotics working?
I hope you got your meds okay today Vera, it's easily done to forget something. I've even forgot things when I've had a list, gawd knows how that happened LOL.
How nice to get away Flappergirl and around a special day to. I hope the weather is nice and you have a lovely time. I used to live up a hill by the coast years ago, we could see the beach from our window and like you said not many people would park by the house because of the climb back to the car.

Hi all Thank you for the lovely welcomes yesterday. Sorry I didn't reply 'in sinc' but our internet connection keeps dropping out rather too often :-0 I think it may need a man up the pole across the road.
Ann, yes, I remember your card making. Was it you or Jude (or both) who had an art/craft blog? You know you should be dipping the brush in the water when painting and not your toes lol. Keep at it and never throw work away, you will see progress when you look back.
I like to vary what I do - my way of rotating the parts prone to aches and pains :-D Painting, sketching, crochet, textiles.... I don't follow instructions I prefer to dive in and see what happens. Fauve?
Hi Frank :-) I don't think I've seen you in chat before.

Hi Island what do you do in textiles? I am into poly clay at the mo. If you would like to be sent our pics of what we make please send me your email address by pm.
Where abouts are you in the country Island please?
Frank good you have had some well earned sleep at last and are now ready and packed and don't forget to pop that laptop in so we can keep in touch. There must be room in the car for that. Safe journey for Sunday.
We have grey skies today and its quite cold out there and windy.
Oh is watching the qualifiers for the race on Sunday.
Oh has his lunch but I have to wait till 3.20pm for mine. I have prepared it so I only have to eat it at the right time. No I hav'nt rung the doc yet to see if I have to stop the statins while on these pills.

Afternoon all
Very windy here today and we had a few spots of rain mid morning but not enough to wet my washing so that's now all dry and folded.
Hi to Island and Flapper Girl nice to see you popping in for a chat .
We have been busy helping son and DIL with their front garden ,they wanted to put some weed barrier down and mulch so we went to help ,out came two chairs for us to sit and have coffee so we could keep away from them ,son does make me laugh if you start to walk over to him he says woo 2 metres mother :-D and I'm no where near him . Frank I think the weather for next week should be a little better than this week so you should be OK to sit out ,I hope you both have a nice rest and come back feeling more like your old selves .
Mel I hope this next lot of antibiotics do the trick if you can take them ,you talking of Statins I must ring the doctor as my statin has given me terrible indigestion, I've left it off and then tried again but its no better ,I had trouble with finding an arthritis tablet that didn't give me indigestion too ,each time I've tried the doctors there's been a problem their end ,surgery was closed back use of staff problems then they had a flood so I must ring next week perhaps there another statin I can try.
Oh Ann cramp can leave you feeling bruised for days I hope it's a bit easier now ,so you never did find out what the car was doing so early in the morning .
The veg trough is coming along nicely ,he's varnished the inside and started to paint the out side ,we had some slate grey paint so rather than go to the shops in a queue that will have to do for now . He made it three foot long ,two foot wide and twelve inches deep so I hope it will be OK for the veg plants I bought . We now have tiny runner beans forming ,there seems to be loads of flowers this year so hopefully it will be a good year for them.
Right time for a cuppa and then I'm going to make a nice coffee sponge .

Flapper girl, nice to have something to look forward to. And I bet it is nice in Weston when the holiday makers and day visitors have all gone home. Close though it is to us we never go to Weston. Have been way in the past but not for years. you are sort of midway geographically between Mel and myself.
Annx Hopefully with all the extra police it will stop people going outside of the lockdown area. I did see that they stopped somebody from hiring a coach to take a busload to Nottingham.
Island, both Jude and I had blogs back then. Mine was craft hers was more nature/animals and birds etc. I still have the craft blog but rarely go on it as there was little interest. I still keep the photo blog going as that was the main one I used. My main hobby will always be photography. And I still add photos for people to see. I really need OH to go back to golf so I can have a good go at the painting. It is so difficult now he is home all the time as I can be right in the middle of something when he want me to do something with/for him. But I will 'dip the brush in' as you say. I admire you if you sketch as I just can't draw.
Gill no gardening today then? So we have another Lowry amongst us. We look forward to your masterpieces.
Mandy, veg trough sounds good, don't forget to take photos of the veg as it grows.
that reminds me I must put some photos on the blog soon.
Frank, hope all goes well with your trip (No don't take that word seriously) and that you both stay safe. Hope you enjoy it and have good weather.

oH RANK THAT IS SO INTERESTING AND i HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT BEFORE.
Sorry did'nt mean to shout!
Must tell you this before I forget. We have one baby Robin that is feeding from my hand. Yesterday he only came a took one worm and flew off. He did that a few times while I was down the hsed by the bantam house. I fed him this morning on the patio in the same way but when I went out with oh and told him I put worms on my hand and held it out while Robby was on the back of our garden seat and he came in front of oh and stayed on my hand and ate about 7 worms. It was so good to feel those little feet on me again after so long since I lost my second Robby who would come to my hand. I stand a good chance of this one coming for a few years if he survives.
