AnninGlos Report 13 Mar 2020 12:07

We went to our small local Tesco this morning thinking it would be better than going tomorrow, it was reasonably busy but we did manage to keep out of the way of people. However, although we got all that we wanted I couldn't believe how they are still so low on stock when Tesco keep saying they are expecting deliveries. We literally had the last chicken on the shelf...... In fact I had a good look at it to make sure there was nothing wrong with it :-D also managed to get fillets of sea Bass and some frozen fish pieces. Managed to spend over £80 to must have got plenty. The freezer is now full and the store cupboard as well.

My tum seems a bit better today, so far just a vague ache but no real nasty pains. Hopefull whatever it was is on the way out. Next week will tell when I re-start the Aldara. I didn't have any on last night and won't tonight. I checked the instructions and I can do that.

Frank, sorry you had another bad night. We had trouble getting to sleep but after we both got up for the loo at 12 o'clock we then didn't sleep too badly.

OH is going to do a bit more pressure washing today while it is dry, I think that is what he is doing now.

Annx I think you are wise to forego the beading and felting. Such a shame as we are all losing the things we like doing but better those than our lives. We are about to cancel our Cornwall holiday and lose the deposit. We have not yet paid the balance. And we were really looking forward to that one as we had got a real bargain. At the moment we won't cancel the second week in Dorset as that can be done later.

cloudy but bright here too Mandy.

and Mel, that reminds me it is time I dusted round!!! Wish you had not said that.

Jane hope you are feeling better today.

gill I suspect you are gearing up to wash the bedding. We change our bed once a week, but we have a top sheet under the duvet so the duvet cover doesn't always need washing. We have at least three sets of bedding so there is no rush to get sheets back on the bed. We always leave the bed uncovered when stripped and make it up again between us late afternoon.

Vera hope you have a good day with your brother. :-) :-) :-)

Well I have just seen something I have never seen before. I was hanging wshing on the line and Phil phesant was out there and I saw him eating stuff out of some grass and he scratched with both feet and ate again. I have never seen a phesant scratch before. I did'nt think they did that.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 13 Mar 2020 14:10

I wouldn't have any idea Mel. Nice to see a pheasant scratching or not.

I just watched a video of somebody making an Easter bunny out of a square 30 stitches across knitted in garter stitch. I thought Annx and Mandy could do that.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Mar 2020 14:29

AnnG oh told me they do scratch. When he was a Game Keeper for the local shoot he said they would roll out a big bale across the ride and let them find the corn that was left in the straw and then put buckets of corn down in the straw and they would go and scratch about in the straw for the corn. Shows you how much I know about phesants!!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Mar 2020 14:35

Yes the bunny is so cute and the girls would easily be able to make them Mandy.

Frank

Frank Report 13 Mar 2020 16:12

Yes Mel, I have seen Pheasants going that.

Here's a blast from the passed. As a child Mum sent me to pick some Mint to go in the new potatoes. I was only 5/6 years old if that. When I bought it in, she said wash it in the sink. As we didn't have washing up liquid in those days, I put it in the sink and sprinkled WASHING POWDER on it. It was then that a got a clip round the head, and to be told how STUPID I WAS.

This came to my mind when I was washing some cabbage for tonights dinner. So the old grey matter is still working.

Annx Report 13 Mar 2020 17:46

Two cases in the city today so that makes 7 now. I think OH's meetings will soon be abandoned for the time being which will be good. AnnG we had to pay our holiday balance last month so will lose it all if we cancel, but sooner that than have a holiday of worry about going anywhere or taking ill with it while away. I looked to see if there were any vacancies later in the year as we know the site owner well and he let us swap weeks once before. Not one week free right up till Christmas at the moment, although that could change. I did see that prog and it was useful. Now they are saying it could be June before it peaks, so that would mean it would be around most of the summer! The little bunny is cute and would be quick to make. It' sounds like it is the meds affecting your tum if you think it is a bit better today.

I didn't know Pheasants scratched either Mel! I have never seen one doing it yet. Have you been crafting today?

Frank you were giving the mint a very good wash! lol It's confusing as a child when you get told off for something you think is a good idea. When I was 7 I discovered that sand was a great way to get the rust off the chrome wheels on my bike. Dad went ballistic!!

I wonder if Gill has been making pies for the freezer?

MillymollyAmanda Report 13 Mar 2020 18:28

Oh he's a lovely little bunnie, thanks for that it looks a nice little thing that the girls could make ,I might knit some squares as it would take them a while to do but they could do the running stitch to sew him up.

So far I don't think we have any people with the virus in Norfolk ,or I should say no reported ones there could well be some people that are self isolating .

I think the dry sore throat I have is more acid reflux as it seems to be worse after laying down .

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 13 Mar 2020 18:40

That is a shame that you can’t find a week to transfer to Ann, and a pity to have to lose your money.
I expect you will be relieved when your OH’s meetings are cancelled.

Mandy hope the girls enjoy making bunnies.

Jane Report 13 Mar 2020 19:35

Evening All
Just a quick post tonight as I am really tired and have come up tp bed.I have done quite a bit today . H/W and ironing plus doing dinner.
Oh Ann what a shame there is not another week you could change to for your holiday. Gutting to lose the whole payment too :-(

We are still going to have our 4 nights in the Lodge at the beginning of April at Foxton. We are going to do our own clean when we get there with the antibac cleaner. As for eating out I am not sure about that but it will be easy enough to do somesimple meals ourselves.Janice will probably bring her 'famous ' Broccoli and Stilton Quiche :-D. Plus I have plenty of pre cooked meals in my freezer. Where we are staying is only a 30 minute drive from here so god forbid one of us should be ill it is easy and quick to get home.

I hope Vera has had a lovely day today with her Brother.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Mar 2020 22:25

You did a lot today Jane. I went round with the anti bac on all the door handles and I had a delivery of some paint I ordered yesterday so I wiped all that down before I opened it and then wiped the jar of paint too. Its a nice colour. Its called Halo blue gold. Its a metalic acrylic and has gold in it but its really a greeny blue colour.

AnninGlos Report 13 Mar 2020 22:44

Just realised. They have stopped all sport, rugby, football, what on earth is my OH going to watch on TV now?

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 14 Mar 2020 08:24

Good morning all

Rained overnight and it’s wet again today. Hopefully it will dry up a bit soon.

I’ll be here forever if I try to respond to all the posts but I have read them all.

We had a lovely day with my brother yesterday and it was good to see him looking so much better. He’s eating more and has more energy.

We have OH’s sister and her husband coming for a couple of nights next Saturday. As of yesterday they were still planning on coming. I am not sure what we are going to do with them as we had planned to take them to a couple of visitor attractions and to have a restaurant meal out Saturday night at least but that might not be a good move at the moment, particularly as the chap has had cancer treatment in the last few months so his immune system might still be a bit wonky.

I hope you have a lovely time if you decide to go to Southend Frank.

Right, must get on. I’ve not done anything much in the house or garden for about a month with my back problems and other commitments so I am chasing my tail a bit now. I hope you all have a nice day whatever you are doing.

Morning Vera,morning all,

Glad you enjoyed your day with you brother Vera ,you must have so pleased to see him so much better after all he's been through .
Don't over do it with the HW today you don't want to have a set back with your back .

Just spoke to son and he was saying that the doctors surgery where DIL works and our surgery are now only doing telephone appointments ,i have an appointment to see the nurse on Tuesday for the results of my blood test and my Hypertension review ,if they don't ring i shall have to ring to see whats happening as i don't think anyone is going in to the doctors at all.

I wonder what Frank and Ros has decided to do about this weekend .

Mel that paint is a lovely colour ,the Violet Gold looks nice too .

Morning Vera and all,

I am so pleased you had a lovely day with your brother Vera. You must have had a lot of catching up to do. It good he is eating better and has more energy now.

Not so nice this morning here as we have grey sky but it is dry at the moment. It rained last night before I went to bed. It is brightish out the back of the bungalow but there's no real sun shining.

Wonder if Frank decided to go today. I hope he has a nice time and safe journey if he did. Did he say Simon and Sally were picking them up?

Shop to do today and the egg delivery and then the rest of the day should be mine apart from doing the chickens.

Hope you all had a good sleep last night and are feeling well and rested this morning.

I keep meaning to say the picture of your arm op look good Anng. Its healed nicely apart from the one stitch. At least its not all catchy now the stitches are out and must be more comfortable in bed at night.

Love to Jane. <3 <3 its nice to see you posting. Give that Thomas a big hug and kiss from me.

Morning Mel ,we posted at the same time :-D

Annx

Annx Report 14 Mar 2020 11:06

Morning All,

Wet here but not raining at the moment.

That's good your brother is doing well and is much better Vera. As for your visitors due next Saturday it's probably best to see what happens in the next few days. I expect there will be more closures and advice. As for the garden, we have barely touched ours yet this year and we never got it properly ready for the winter with pruning etc!! We are both intending to do even just a quarter of an hour a day, weather permitting, to ease ourselves into it gradually and hopefully strengthen rather than injure our backs!

Hello Kitty was waiting on the front for us when we got home yesterday and the little tinker sneaked in the porch to see what was in our shopping bags. He shot out looking guilty when he saw us coming back from the car. lol He has recently resumed sitting in the road at the top of the close to watch for mice in the hedgerow which is worrying with the speed the new people and their visitors turn into the close.

Jane we haven't actually cancelled yet, but will most likely do so nearer the time I think. There is only a handful of lodges on a fairly remote site, but they are all booked up, including the weeks before we go. I had thought to start our holiday with a good clean :-S and had bought the Milton sterilising tablets to use as that kills viruses (baby area in Sainsbury's have them in containers like you buy vitamins in) and we can self cater foodwise. The motorway toilets would be a hazard though and if either of us became ill, so would being confined together in the car for 6 hours to get home.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 14 Mar 2020 11:23

Good morning all. Sunny here with a strong wind temp says 10 degrees. OH has pottered off down to his greenhouse to plant tomato seeds. I have washing in and dusting to do.

Mandy our surgery have sent out the same message, do not attend the surgery without first phoning. at the moment blood tests and other nurse appointments will go ahead but patients will be phoned first to be asked questions on health. Appointments by phone only and they will then be triaged and it will be decided who needs to see the doctor.

Mel a day almost free for crafting then. Yes my arm has healed well the little scabs are just where the stitches were.

Vera I am pleased to hear that you had a good day with your brother, and great that you found him looking so much better, one fewer thing to worry about.
I wouldn't think it was a good idea for your OH's sister to visit as planned but they might not like to let you down. The fewer people in the house at the moment the better. If one of them were taken ill while at yours they could be there for 2 weeks.
Our daughter has even put off a visit to us early April which is sad as we have not seen them since Christmas, but it is sensible.
Don't overdo things and put your back out again.

Annx I think a lot of people must be cancelling holidays. We haven't actually cancelled yet buy fully intend to. We had an advertisement from the Valley where we were going to offer cheap Easter breaks and explaining their cleaning programme for the apartments. It is not that we think they won't be clean but on holiday you visit places and mix with people from all over, self catering you have to go to the supermarket and then, as you say a horrific journey home if either of you were ill and in our case I can't drive OH's car so we would be stuck if it was him that was ill, just not worth it.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Mar 2020 11:40

I bet Frank has gone to Southend................ I don't think that was sensable at all.

Last night on our Devon news there was a doctor on Spotlight talking about the virus and she had self isolated herself. She was the doctor that told me off for being latish that time. The one I said I wouldnt see again and the one who told me she did'nt know what was wrong with me and when I saw another doc he said what it was and gave me cream and the rash on my arms went in a couple of days. Her name is Dr Fianloa O'Neil.
