Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 Mar 2020 13:07

We have arctic wind here today as I just went out to fill the bird feeders up and came in frozen.

Good the arms better today AnnG and we await the photo.

I have done a bit of painting this mroning and fed the birds and chickens and thats about all. Now its time to get some lunch.

I can never uderstand how they can sned children on these aways days when there is something like this going on. Surely people have more sense than to take in school children when there is a crisis going on. They said Italy was in lock down but they send school children home!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its ridiculous.

Frank Report 12 Mar 2020 13:38

Afternoon to you all,

Another BAD NIGHT. Ros said I was shouting in my sleep and FIGHTING someone. The bed cloths were all over the place. I woke at 3.30 am and came out to read my book until 6.00 Managed to sleep until 9.30.

That Viaduct at Arthingworth (sp)Jane, I have driven around that so many times, I didn't count the arches but it's very impressive.

Have been trying to ring my Nephew, about Saturday. I really don't want to go, but don't want to disappoint Ros, Simon nd Sally. I can't cancel the room at the B & B so that would be £60.00 down the drain.

I can't seem to concentrate on anything today, so I am going for a lay down for an hour.

Well I have made two cards this afternoon while OH is doing things in the garden. In May at U3A assuming we are still all alive and that things have eased up a bit, we have a plant stall at U3A And our garden group is to run the stall. I am making some cards to sell on the stall (all money for U3A). So that is keeping me busy.

Mel I have sent the photos of my arm although it is difficult as it is towards the back of my arm. You should be able to see it is better though.

Frank A lot of us are going to be upset at missing out on plans and will also be out of pocket but our health and the health of others must come first. I really don't think you should go to Southend, you are not a particularly well person so must be at risk. We have already cancelled a weekend away, luckily we won't lose money on that, and it looks like we will also cancel a trip to Cardiff early April. At the moment we are holding on to see what happens in May when we have two weeks holiday booked which we need to pay for next week.
I hope Ros sees that you should be thinking again about going.

Gillx Report 12 Mar 2020 16:19

Your arm looks better than I thought it would AnnG, they've done a good job and hopefully it won't leave to much of a scar. Yes, normally OH is a deep sleeper but sleeping during the day he's not sleeping as well as he does at night, we think it's because the bedroom is South facing and gets really hot, I said to put the fan on as that might help, so he might try that on sunny days. We have floorboards in our property and some of them creek so although I don't have to tip toe around I do need to be careful where I walk. I really need to wash the bedding, we only have one set so I might wash it later and sleep on the sofa tonight if it's not dry. So long as the bed is made for OH the following morning it should be okay. Mind you saying that he's off for the next two nights starting tomorrow so I could leave it a few days and do it when he's not sleeping during the day. I must buy another set of bedding for the bed though then I won't have that problem, I didn't think about it when he was offered the job. Normally I wash it and put it straight back on the bed.

I think if my children had a school trip booked for abroad I would of kept them at home, those poor children, I hope none of them have caught the virus. I don't think they'll stay in doors either.

Jane

Jane Report 12 Mar 2020 16:29

Frank. Sorry you are feeling out of sorts again. Maybe you should cancel this weekend after all. Could Ros go without you? Things are getting worse regarding this virus day by day. Lots of people are going to be losing out on holidays /trips/events. I feel sorry for people who have plans to get married abroad .
I was looking at booking 2 nights away in May for our Annivesrary (special deal with Travel Zoo. But I then thought it would be daft to book it now so have put it on hold for now.

Ann,your arm looks very good and well healed :-D

James is back from a very long interview. He felt it went well so fingers crossed he gets called back for a second time. He did say one of the men interviewing didn't shake hands but the lady did. There was hand sanitiser to use. He has now gone to the Golf Range for a few swipes :-D

I have cooked a large joint of Topside and have sliced it and put it in containers with gravy in the freezer. One will do 5 people (for when H&G come for a dinner) and the other will do the 3 of us. Trying the Guiness again but still hate it.A sherry is much nicer :-D :-D
I feel so much better now but my legs feel like lead and wobbly and I cant feel the ends of my fingers. That is yet another side effect :-S.I hope your tummy soon settles properly Ann.

Sun still shining and wind blowing here.I did a load of white tshirts for James this morning and they must be dry by now.I keep looking out to make sure they haven't blown off the line. Tonight I still have enough Beef Casserole left from last night so that is what I shall have again with rice. I think the men are having some chicken dish .I have little appetite these days but am eating enough... Did I say I have developed a real taste for Jelly Babies? I think it is because they are sweet and fruity and I can taste them. Next week I have the dentist but shalln't mention my sweet tooth LOL I would get a right talking too :-S

Jane Report 12 Mar 2020 16:42

You got i there Gill just before me. Have you though of looking at Groupon for a set of bedding? There seem to be some really good deals although I dont know what the quality is like. A few more days without washing your bedding now I am sure will be fine. Its not as though you dont wash or bath :-D :-D.You will think I am a mucky pup as sometimes I just do the bottom sheet and pillow cases and leave the duvet cover until the next time. :-D

AnninGlos Report 12 Mar 2020 16:50

Jane eat what you like when you like then you won't go far wrong. But it is good that you are eating something, you won't have an appetite because you are not doing any exercise.

Yes I am pleased with the arm, it looks as though she did a good job. Just hope it doesn't 'go keloid' now. I am prone to that.

My tummy is really strange a real pulling pain one minute and then ok again. I checked the Aldara and it does say common (1 in 10) bowel problems However I have just said to T I am going to do what they suggest and stop this week and start again Monday. See if it goes over the weekend. I am wondering whether she has over prescribed. Normally you would treat one or two basal cell at a time but she located 5 to be done, maybe that is too much aldara for the body to cope with. If resting for 4 days doesn't solve it I will ask the pharmacist.

I hope that James gets called for a second interview. At least he is up beat about how it went. He really deserves to be taken on.

Good idea to cook and freeze the topside. :-) :-) :-)

Gillx Report 12 Mar 2020 16:55

Just to be on the safe side we've just bought a few tinned things and I managed to get hold of some flour, I thought I could make some pies. The freezer was almost full anyway but luckily we only needed some bread and few other bits, so we should be okay until we know exactly what's going on with the shops. I can't see them being shut completely, but you never know. At least we won't need to shop for a while which will limit the amount of people we're around.

OH and the rest of the staff at his work aren't allowed to arrive or leave in their uniforms, OH hasn't got his uniform yet but does have some clothes he uses for work, so will have to go to work in his jeans and change when he gets there. He told me earlier that he and a male nurse walked in on a woman getting changed as they've only got one room for everyone to use. There is a lock on the door but she must of forgotten to lock it, OH said she wasn't embarrassed, but other people might be if they walk in on someone. Both OH and the male nurse apologised and left the room until she'd changed.

It looks like the F1 might be cancelled this weekend, one team aren't racing anyway as one of their drivers and a few others on the team have tested positive for the virus. It looks as if other sports aren't letting anyone in to watch, like the football. It's all over the news at the moment as the country waits to hear what the prime minister has to say.

They've been saying that it should peek around May, so quite a long time before it's possibly over. I haven't watched anything on the coronavirus properly until today, I'm glad I did though so we know we've got some food in, in case the worse should happen.

Gillx

Gillx Report 12 Mar 2020 17:35

I missed a few posts, I must of been writing mine at the same time.

Good luck to James, Jane, I really hope he's called back for a second interview. I'll keep my fingers crossed for him. I fancy some jelly babies now lol :-D So long as you are eating that's the main thing and a bit of sugar will help you feel less tired to. I had intended on making a few things and freezing them, but my freezer is full now, but cooking each day gives me something to do. I've found some new pillow cases so I thought I'd look at Argos and see what they have, it's only around the corner so is easy to get to by car, I could do with some more sheets to as they seem to wear more quickly than the quilt cover. Tonight is OH's last night until Sunday so I'll wash the bedding on Saturday as he'll be in bed tomorrow day time. I've not heard of Groupon so might take a look there first.

Sorry to hear you had a bad night Frank, hopefully you'll have a better one tonight. It's hard to say what to do about going away, but I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you and Ros should it come to it.

I hope stopping the meds for a while helps AnnG and your tummy settles down, it sounds very uncomfortable.

I'm just watching the prime minister and health people talking about what to do next where the coronavirus is concerned.

I have just done a long post, responding to all your posts on our main desktop PC when it just went offline for no reason that I can see. I got it back online to find my whole post had disappeared. It serves me right because I had started doing my posts on Word and then doing a c & p but I didn't do that this time. I can't possibly type the whole lot out again but I have read all the posts.

Not sure whether I will be on here tomorrow as we are going to see my brother for the day.

I know how you feel Vera, I written a long post yesterday, went to do something else, but then forgot to send it before I closed my laptop down, it's quite annoying when I do that and I only have myself to blame. I hope you have a lovely time with your brother tomorrow.

Goodness Jane 82 arches on that Viaduct ,imagine the timei t must have taken to build it and as you say the view from it must be amazing .
I do hope James is called in for the second interview and that the other interview goes well for him on Monday .
I don't think a few jelly babies will hurt Jane ,i like a lemon Sherbet now and again .

AnnG your arm looks as if it's healing nicely now ,hopefully having a rest from your meds will help your tummy pain .

Gill couldn't you use Sandra bed ? it would be better than sleeping on the sofa .

Vera i hope you have a safe journey to see your brother and you have a lovely day together .

Max is a devil with toilet rolls if the roll is left on he soon noses it off and off he goes leaving a trail behind him :-D he's brought lumps of moss in today that have blown off the roof and then earlier he had the tea towel that i had left on the side ,i have to make sure i push every thing to the back of the work top, i know if he comes rushing in through the door that hes got some thing from the garden ,it's all a game with him little tinker but we love him to bits .

Annx Report 12 Mar 2020 18:45

If it peaks in May I can see us not going away. The trouble is, even if you stay away from touristy places while you are away, you don't know how thorough the cleaning was before you arrive where you are staying.

Frank those are the kind of nights OH used to have and it sounds like you are anxious, maybe about going away this weekend. Ros is in the at risk age group like most of us on here are, and has had those heart procedures recently and didn't you say she was diabetic? They make you extra vulnerable too. I think all of us are going to be losing money one way or another with things we have planned being abandoned. I'm not signing up to the next craft course yet.

Oh it sounds like Max was thinking he is still a puppy Mandy. Fancy him getting the pegs and toilet roll, the naughty boy! :-) I agree with Mel about the felt. I struggled with a stiff acrylic one to do wool felting and broke a needle you stab it with, but it was easy with the softer kind. The stiffer acrylic might make a more rigid box, unless it is hard to sew with a needle?

Ann your arm is looking quite smooth now and as if it will be hard to tell you had anything done in a few weeks. I hope the break from taking your meds helps your poor tum At least that will decide whether it is the meds. OH said the schools are all talking about plans and some now have sanitiser gels in place to use. His meetings are never when the children are there, but the virus stays on hard surfaces, handles etc for quite a while so he's been taking his own gel in with him to use and washes his hands as soon as he's home as well. I will be glad when they stop their meetings, but once the schools close, as is likely, I doubt parents will keep their children at home so could there be a greater risk to the rest of us with them out and about? Maybe teachers will give them a lot of work to do so they won't have time to be out and about!

Gill I think that is one reason people are buying so much so they will be less exposed with fewer visits to the supermarkets as the virus spreads. It was still freezing where we went for lunch and my roast gammon and veg in a big yorkshire wasn't piping hot, so I don't think we will be going again soon. We were in a little alcove with no-one else. so that was good. Are your floorboards covered Gill? If not I think years ago people sprinkled talc in the cracks between them to stop the squeaking. It's a good idea that uniforms are changed as staff arrive or go home.

Jane, the viaduct was in our local paper last night with a pic taken on the 7th of a steam train crossing it! What a coincidence. I must be a mucky pup too then as we only change bedding once a fortnight unless it is a heatwave and we are sleeping naked! :-0 My theory is that as we both shower and wash our hair at least once a day and wear night things, use mattress and pillow protectors that get washed regularly then it should last longer than a week. I also turn the bedding down to air the bed every day. I confess I don't hoover the mattress very often and know you should. :-S I hope James gets a second interview. Often if you think an interview went well, it has! :-) How is Gareth finding the commuting?

I do it too Vera and it's so disheartening. I wish they had an 'undo' button like they do on some sites. I hope you have a nice time with your brother.

Better get some beads packed now and another early start tomorrow as I have a docs appointment first thing.

Oh dear I think we have all lost posts in the past. So annoying. Pity too Vera we like your posts.

Annx Did you see the special BBC broadcast re the Coronavirus? I though it was excellent and really helped understand where we are and where we are going. And not shutting schools for now either. We have the same concern re our holiday in May, we have to pay the balance next Friday. Might try and change it to September.

Mandy I have a picture in my head now of Max zooming in through the door with all sorts from the garden in his mouth. :-D :-D

Morning all,

Lots of cloud here today but bright if that makes sense ,don't know if it's cold out as I haven't been out yet.

AnnG that picture in your head would be just right he does zoom in with all sorts , plant pots bits of rose bits of fushia that's why we have some netting round the little walled gardens or he would have bits off every thing ,he doesn't take bits when we're out there it's now and again when he goes out there on his own.

Hope Vera has a nice dry day driving to see her brother but I think they said we might have an odd shower today.

Sunshine this morning hee blue sky with big white clouds and a breeze!!!!!

Iv'e not been out there yet so can't say if its cold or not.

Mums dog never grew out of bringing her things whether it be the kitchen towel, tea towel or something that dad or mum would wear and she was even known to go down the linen bin. Dear old Kim was a yellow Labrador. Its in their nature as gun dogs to bring you something like they would do on a shoot.

Nothing planned for today but there's always washing to do and dusting waiting to be done so see you all later.

Surprise, Surprise. It's me in the Morning and FIRST.

Another pig of a night, awake at 3.00am and just laid and rested. My brain is going 50 to the dozen for some unknown reason.

I went with Ros to Tesco yesterday afternoon, for bits and pieces. It was so quiet, I couldn't believe it. Got what we wanted and she had to go and have a nail sorted out. We decided to eat out, and went to our usual place. Again it was very quiet.

Last night I stayed up until Ros came home from CHOIR. That is going to be the last one while this virus is about. She was later than usual as she stopped at Vals for a COT.

Good luck to James with his interviews Jane. Gill did your OH get a eyeful, when he went into that room. Silly woman should have locked the door.

Arm is looking better Ann, lets hope that you don't get left with a nasty scar.

Mandy, what are we going to do with MAX. ?? What a little B@@@er he is getting.

Still undecided about the weekend, will have chat later to make a decision.

Jan rang yesterday. She and her sisters and daughters, were going to visit relatives in Yorkshire, but have decided not to go.

I'm going to get a coffee and Toast. Never know I might be back later. xxxx

Annx Report 13 Mar 2020 11:23

Morning All,

Sunny with a chilly breeze here. Was in on time at the docs and it was good to see everyone using the gel for a change. The little ones were not too keen on wet hands and were waving them about to dry. Since seeing last night that we have 5 cases of coronavirus in the county now I have decided not to meet up for beading for a while and am not going to the wool felting workshop tomorrow. Sitting close to 10 strangers for 6 hours doesn't seem a good idea. We are still going to eat at the Manor for now as they save us an out of the way table and now they have hand gel for everyone to use and don't get busy. OH is going to footie tomorrow, but the low league games only have a handful of fans and he can keep well away. They have cancelled the big NEC Craft Show some of my friends go to as well.

I've just been wielding the cobweb brush and the sun is really showing up our yellowing white paintwork. Knees permitting I must have a go at doing the little hallway, starting with the door frames and skirting boards. The only way I can stand up on my own once I'm down is to lie on my tummy and use my arms to walk my hands back to my feet with my btm in the air......most undignified, but it proves I can still touch my toes with my legs straight! OH says to get someone in, but I have always done all the decorating all my life and mostly on my own and it's hard to accept defeat!. I suppose I'm fussy about the finish too, but may have to leave the bigger rooms to a decorator this time.I shall see how exhausting doing the hall is first. I would like to paint horizontal stripes on one wall so that will need a bit of marking up! We deliberately didn't wallpaper anywhere when we moved in here, so all the walls just need emulsion. :-)

I'm not surprised the choir Ros goes to won't be meeting for a while Frank. Sorry to hear you had another bad night, but it is most likely because of this trip. I think it will be quiet in a lot of places in the next few weeks.

OH is calling........
