Gill was on here first thing this morning Mel maybe she has been busy today, hope she is ok.
The eye turned out well didn’t it?
Annx yes I have had the numbing gel which was good that was when our practice had a private dentist working there temporarily. Our practice is sort of semi private so cheaper than full private but more expensive than NHS. Just a check up is £24 but some treatment is dearer than NHS. My present dentice in the practice is quite young last time he deep cleaned he used a spray before injections but I am not keen on that as some tends to go down my throat and numbs the throat so I feel I can’t swallow.

Morning all
Another damp morning here, but quite warm with it. I was quite busy yesterday, after my post in the morning, so didn't have a chance to get back on here.
I've decided to colour my hair today instead of tomorrow, with my hair being so long it can become quite tangled which makes colouring it harder even though I give it a good brush beforehand. It takes most of the day so I'll be making a start soon.
Yes, Frank, you reminded me of the time I had to look in the children's section for shoes once as I needed a size three of a pair I liked, they were small sizes so my usual size was to big. It's only happened once though as normally I can find what I like in the adult section. I have very small slim feet and most footwear is wide fitting so they fall off when I walk, which is dangerous. When I do find footwear that fits I normally buy more than one pair, but that doesn't happen very often. I hope you managed to order the flowers you wanted over the phone in the end.
I see you've been sorting again Ann. I went to sort out the cupboard in the dining room the other day, only to find it didn't need doing, so it looks like I've done all mine now the kitchen ones have been done.......well, for now anyway lol ;-) Fancy fixing water leaks in the middle of the night, surely it could be done during day light hours. It's not like resurfacing a road where it needs doing when there's hardly any traffic around. You must be quite tired with being disturbed all the time.
Hope the weather is better today for your shopping trip to Tesco AnnG. We had thick fog last night, but it's all gone this morning.
Pleased to see your dragon eye worked in your new oven Mel, they'll be no stopping you now you've got the hang of it.
So it was daffodils in the pots Vera, I hope they flower for you and you don't have to throw them away. That could of been nasty when the hot water bottle fell into holes, good job you tested it before using it or you could of got hurt. We always have hot water bottles in and have had them leak a bit when they get old, you have to be very careful don't you? Sorry to hear your OH was a bit grumpy with you yesterday, I know what that's like as my OH can be moody at times. I hope he's in a better mood today and not in as much pain. It sounds like he needs to have it checked out if it's still painful.
Your OH sounds really funny Mandy with those two comments, I'm still smiling now :-D :-D :-D
Thinking of Jane today and hoping she's not feeling to bad with any dizziness she may have.
Our neighbour had someone to look at the large oak trees and conifers at the bottom of his garden yesterday, they belong to the neighbour over the back of him, we heard him asking the fella if he could cut the whole oak tree down, but apparently you need the councils permission to do that, so he's just going to cut the bits that are overhanging his garden and take a bit off the tops of the conifers. We're hoping he doesn't take to much off the top as it's giving us privacy from the house on the other side. I hope when he does cut some of the top and sides off they don't fall onto our fence and screening or fall over onto our trees, it's taken 12 years for our conifers to grow high enough to block the view from the house at the bottom of our garden, so we won't be to pleased if they are damaged. So with the trees and his roof it's going to be quite noisy here in a few weeks time as we heard the fella say he couldn't do the trees for about three weeks and if the Insurance are doing his roof that normally take a few weeks before they start, so it could end up with both jobs being done around the same time.

Oh I forgot to say.
Has anyone heard about the earthquake this morning, in the north east, it was only a small tremor, but enough to wake people up? I remember that happening to me when I was about 17 years old, back in the early 80's. It's weird when you're woken up like that, you feel like someone is shaking you to wake up, but when you open your eyes there's no one there. The one today was magnitude 2.8, about 5km from Middlesbrough, just before 6am this morning.

Morning Gill and all,
I have a damp miserable day here this morning and very dull with it. Like Gill said it is not that cold though.
Bathroom cleaning today and then playing if its bright enough to see what I am doing.
Gill it is quite legal for the man to xcut off anything that overhangs his garden but I don't know whether he would be able to cut the top out of trees that are in a neibours garden without his permission. If you are going to cut conifers back you can only do it in the growing season I think and only into green growoth or they won't grow if you cut them into the brown branches.
I was fast asleep at 6am so I wold'nt have felt the earthquake anyway not right down here.

We heard the fella tell our neighbour that he couldn't cut to far back into the conifers for the reason you said Mel as it would hit the brown leaves then it would never grow back. We'll just have to wait and see how much is taken off, but hope it's not to much so we loose our privacy from the house on the other side. We were very over looked when we first moved in here 12 years ago and have watched the conifer grow, it's also where all the birds build their nests, so if they take to much off the poor birds will suffer.
We've got sunshine here now and it's still quite warm. I've just put the hair colouring on so have to wait a bit now before washing it off. I decided to just to the roots and about 5 inches down from there this time as the bottom of my hair didn't need doing and with having such long hair one bottle isn't enough to do the whole lot. I normally have two bottles in at a time but forgot to replace the second bottle last time I used it. I'm thinking of going a shade lighter next time so will Google it to see how much lighter it is. If I keep going lighter year by year I can finally do one that blends in better with the grey then it won't need doing so often. Well, that's the plan anyway. It'll take a number of years but I won't be completely grey for ages yet, so it's not a problem.
I must of scratched my scalp a bit when I've been brushing my hair as it's stinging a bit since I put the colouring on, unless it's because I've put more on that area this time. Never mind it'll be washed out soon and at least I won't have 2 inches of grey showing at my roots anymore. I think I left it a bit to long to do, this time around.
Going to get a cuppa before I run a bath to rinse my hair. It's to long to rinse in the sink. I noticed last night that it's down to my waist again after having it cut last year. Not as long as your's though Mel.
What are you planning on making today? Are your makes for another craft fair this Christmas?

Good afternoon all, NOTHING sort od day here, overcast and totally dreary. Not doing anything today, just reading and T.V.
I didn't hear about the EARTHQUAKE on the news this morning, it might mention it later. I do remember a small earthquake around Towcewster when I worked in the Vauxhall dealership. It rattled the BIG PLATE GLASS WINDOW, that I thought was going to break.
Six o'clock this morning I woke wanting the loo, but for the life of me, I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE I WAS. I had to wake Ros, she put the light on, and helped me out of bed. I then slept until 10.00 this morning.
Ros has showered and washed her hair. She always puts her rollers in and sits under her hair dryer for an hour or so. It's so nice and QUIET when she turns it off. lol lol
Mandy, Colin made me smile with his comments, I could just imagine a sparrow flying along, with a rear light up his bottom. lol lol
Ros usually puts the shopping away, but if I help I always put things in the wrong place, Well that's what she says.
I didn't get round to ordering the flowers for Sally. I phoned her this morning, and she is resting, and off work for 8 weeks. Simon was home also today, covering from the knee investigation. He's very sore, with all the pulling and tugging.
Mewl those eyes look very good, what are you putting them in ??
I'm the same as most OHs. Boredom can get you in very snappy moods. I often snap at Ros, but she know I don't mean to upset her.
This outbreak in CHINA, is quite frightening, you just do not know who or where you could become effected. I see Heathrow are checking every flight from China. GOOD.
Off to get a bit of lunch and a coffee. Take care of yourselves, and enjoy the rest of the day. xxxx

Well, according to the paper Frank the checking at Heathrow entails handing out a leaflet saying to seek help if you don't feel well. And anyway some could be ok now but have it two weeks time as it has a long incubation time. Then, when you get it ther is not treatment available anyway. So it is all guess work and it is quite frightening. Especially as our grandson is due to go to Beijing next month to work. It is more difficult because of all the movement for the Chinese new year. again worrying as we have quite a large Chinese community in Gloucester. I suppose we just have to hope that we can avoid it.
Gill, there you go again, stop worrying about trees falling on your fence, you will drive yourself silly girl :-D :-D A proper tree surgeon will make sure it doesn't damage property as he won't want to be sued for damages. Fancy thinking he could just ask for the Oak tree to be cut down.
Hope your hair is done now and OK Gill. Yes I heard about the earthquake on FB just a tremble I think luckily.
We did the Tesco shop this morning, another horrible dark and gloomy day today but no fog or drizzle so that is something. OH took himself off to golf when we got back, he has just come in so must have played 18 holes as he was gone about 3 hours.
Tesco have got money off petrol if you spend £50 or more.

Forgot to mention. Did anyone watch th BBC last night "SPY IN THE WILD" I was mesmerised by all the animals that they had rigged up with CAMERA'S. If you didn't see it, please watch on CATCH UP.
I hated having to carry my golf clubs, but when the fairways were too wet they banned trolly's. So you either carried or didn't play.
Still a very dark, drab day here. Looking forward to a nice bowl of stew later, with a couple of slices of bread, to soak up the gravy.
See you later.

Afternoon All Feeling a bit weak and wabbit today but that is to be expected. So it is feet up by the fire for means watching tv. Hannah has booked us 4 nights at a Foxton Locks lodge from April 6th so that is something to look forward to :-D. Janice and Larry will be joining us :-D.There is a hot tub too but I am not sure hot tubs are recommended for anyone having Chemo.I will have to check on that. I have never been in a hot tub but would love the experience. It is a dark and dismal day here too. James has just gone to the golf range for a practice . He has an interview on Monday in Cambridge :-D :-D.I do hope he is successful as he has been out of work now since September !!. Hannah and Gareth wil move here on the 30th.They are coming on tomorrow to pick the key up for the house.Hannah starts her new job on Feb 4th. She will be working with addicts who will have been referred from the courts .She is going to have to have my car as Gareth will be using theirs to commute to his job in London . Jane, tuck up by the fire and relax, it will help your recovery. Nice to have a break to look forward to in April. Good luck to James I do hope he will be successful, he deserves some good news. And good luck to Hannahe and Gareth in their new home and her new job.
I have just found this on line: Chemotherapy and radiation can cause skin sensitivity that reacts to chemicals such as chlorine. In addition, hot tubs, saunas and other communal baths are generally not recommended for immunosuppressed patients since bacteria and other microorganisms thrive in warm water.
So I think that might be a no for you with the hot tub. <3 <3

Evening All,
We seem to be back to dark and dreary days again! It's so dark in the mornings although we have passed the longest day now. OH was shattered after his migraine so we lay in till nearly lunch time! :-0 He was lucky last night as he was early at his meeting and could sit quietly for half an hour by which time the eye zig zags were fading and he managed to read and write ok once they started. He was glad he had some migraleve tablets with him. He is out again tonight so is hoping it isn't too foggy! He's picking a different route to normal as there are diversions with all these roads they keep closing and said he is sticking mostly to main roads in case the fog gets worse.
Frank I forgot to record that prog so I'm glad you said. I will have to look on catchup! It sounds like Sally and Simon can put their feet up together for a day or two till Simon's knee is less sore. Sally won't be moving fast anywhere for a while though till she heals. I don't think they are doing enough at our airports. Other countries seem to be treating this virus risk more seriously.
I expect your body needs some rest today after chemo Jane so some telly and reading sounds good! I hope James has a good interview and is it the same kind of work as before that he would be doing? It will be good to have a break and change of scene at Foxton Locks, although having been there a lot over the years, an afternoon would be enough for us. I have never done a boat trip there though so that would be good to do and it is a good opportunity for you to spend some time with your sister and BIL.
Gill, I think the water boards have to be on call 24 hours a day to repair things. Imagine a water main burst and water pouring down a main road! They are expected to reduce water waste from leaks and imagine a good frost on a road covered in water. They do a lot of commercial maintenance work too, cooling towers, boilers and my guess would be that that can only be done when the workers aren't there. They cover sewer mains and sewage works too, so they might have to deal with those day and night if there is a problem that could be a health risk. Just my guess though! Yes don't worry about the trees at this stage. Like AnnG I was surprised he thought he could cut the Oak down as well.
Mel the eye still looks very good and I hope your second try is even better! You find some interesting things to make! :-)
Better get my bead bag sorted now. I think we may be doing more crochet but I'd better cover all angles as they say!

Morning all
Another damp and dull day today. They say we're in for stormy weather next week with possible snow and hail, the wind is suppose to be over 70 mph, not looking forward to that.
My concern about next door and the trees is he doesn't get professionals in to do jobs, so there's no guarantee the fella he's got knows what he's doing. When the builders were next door doing his extension and other jobs they damaged our fences and broke a concrete post and also caused a lot of mess. The tree I'm most concerned about is the 60+ foot conifer that's about a foot away from our fence and about 4 foot away from our conifers, if the fella was to cut that wrong it could fall our way. I just hope this time the neighbour has got a professional tree surgeon who knows exactly what to do. When all the damage was done to our fence we were assured it would be fixed, but it never was and in the end we took it away and used the unbroken wood for Sandra's little garden. So that's why I have a few concerns now.
Pity you won't be able to use the hot tub Jane, but it's still nice to have a break to look forward to. I hope all goes well for James's interview and Hannah and Gareth's move. How are you feeling today, I hope you managed a good nights sleep?
The programme you were watching Frank, sounds very similar to one we watched a while back where they had camera's inside toy animals so they could be close to the wildlife to film them without the animals knowing, sometimes they worked out they weren't real and would come right up to the camera to have a look.
I see why he's on call now Ann, there's a lot of things the waterboard have to do that I didn't know about, no wonder they work 24/7. Shame he disturbs you though when he has to go out. Hope your OH's migraine has gone now and he is feeling a little better today.

Morning Gill and all,
I think the weather is about the same as you this monr ing Gill dull and damp and dreary. If the tree surgeon comes to cut the conifer down he will do it from the top cutting away some of the lower branches first then taking secions from the top at a time and not cut the tree down all in one go.
Hope you all slept well last night and feel refreshed this morning even though its dark and gloomy.
Frank I replied to your email thank you.

Good morning all. a bit of normality for a Friday this week as OH has gone to golf, he said it was not too wet yesterday but they still can't use trolleys. It is very dull here but not quite as dark as it was yesterday. We have photography group this afternoon so OH had better not be late back from golf.
Gill, it is only the top of the trees that they are having done isn't it. I do sympathise as we hated the conifers that were at the end of our garden (not ours), the killed everything we tried to grow there and in the afternoon they completely obliterated the sun. We were so pleased when they were taken down. Can you get a photo of the trees as they are now and also if any does fall on your fence. If he employs somebody who is not covered by insurance he himself would be liable for an insurance claim if any damage was done I'm sure.
Annx Pleased to hear that your OH's migraine eased off enough for him to be able to take part in the meeting. Was it crochet or beading today then?

Good afternoon to you all,
Yes, the weather is certainly the same here, I think it makes us feel down in the mouth, we do need a bit of sun to cheer us up.
I was surprised that you can't/shouldn't use the HOT TUB Jane. It might be as well to ask someone who knows. i.e. Dr. Good luck to Both James and Hannah with their new adventures, provided James gets the JOB. Where is Hannah moving too. ??
Thank goodness for 1572. I keep using it to block all these nuisance calls. We have had three today, with NO ONE SPEAKING. They getright up my nose !!!!
Jan is coming up today to Kerry's. She is coming to spend the day with Ros tomorrow. R So I will be on my Ros has rung Julia, and they will meet up in Milton Keynes for lunch. So I will be on my "JACK JONES"
Gill, when I had my BIG TREE taken down in the front garden. They started at the top as already mentioned, and worked down to the stump. Made a wonderful job, and cleared every bit of tree away. So now we don't have any BIG TREES in the garden to worry about. It's funny, because when you put these trees in, you don't think how BIG they can grow.
Bowl of soup just coming in, so will go and have that. Will try to get back later. xxx
