Yes he was in his slippers and I'm just as bad popping outside in mine too! I have nearly come a cropper on our hard floor in the lounge before, so check the soles now before I buy. Fancy the shop not wanting an airbed! As you say, you'd think people would snap them up with expected Xmas visitors. It sounds like the drum hasn't driven anyone up the wall yet! I used to threaten to get my little brother one for Christmas, but the look on mum's face said it all!! lol.
She was in the first one of the new series Mel where they dressed Christmas Trees. It does sound like you may have got a previous series.
That little boy didn't want to stop did he.

Yes, I tried putting their names in the search engine Mandy which is how I found out about the accident. I've just looked at the site you mentioned, but you only get three pages free and there is more than one article which I think may take it over the three pages, so I'll only get half the story. I did noticed that site earlier which is why I asked if anyone could help. Thank you for mentioning it though. I'm pretty sure the girls were hit by a drunk driver as that's the impression I get from the little bit I could read on the screen. I just wanted to make sure that was the case as OH would of liked to have known for sure what happened to them. Apparently they had an estate of over £500 between them and considering their ages of 13 and 6 years old OH was wondering how they ended up with that sort of money at an early age bearing in mind it was 1950. From what I can gather, through their probates, the money was left to their father, but this is all I know so far. So the drum is still being used, I wonder how long it'll be before it's brought back to yours lol . ;-) ;-) ;-) Fancy the charity shop not wanting the blow up bed, you'd think they'd be grateful for things like that especially this time of year where people stay over at Christmas. Have you tried ringing around the other charities they may want it and even offer to come and pick it up. It might be worth a try.
I got a letter off BT today saying they have been upgrading the Internet in our area, so that might explain the Internet going off and on all the time. It seems to be okay at the moment, so lets hope it stays that way
Sorry to hear your OH has had a fall Ann, I hope he's okay and not to sore.
Going to get a Strepsil, my throat is really sore, we've got 2 left so Sandra is going to have the other one and I'll buy some more tomorrow.
I hope all went well for Jane today, I've been thinking about her all day. Sending more hugs Jane <3 <3 <3

I suddenly realised that I have not been on today. This morning we went straight out to Dobbies garden centre for breakfast as we had a voucher for two for one. We also had a five pound voucher if we spent £25. We needed a small piece of trellis for the garden plus a few bits for Christmas presents. We got back around twelve and I put a was load in then I sorted out the Christmas presents I already have, got a meal then spent an hour or so wrapping presents.
Gill hope you and Sandra get rid of your sore throats quickly.
Mandy I was going to suggest you asked the other charity shops re the bed before taking it to them.
Annx hope OHs bruises soon heal it sounds painful.

Thanks AnnG, the Strepsil worked a little on our throats but it's first thing in the morning when it hurts the most, if it doesn't clear up in a few days I'll make an appointment with the doctor for us both. You're not on your own forgetting to post or rather thinking you have then realising the following day you haven't, I did that the other day and felt very silly. ;-) It sounds like you've been very busy, I've only got two presents left to buy plus one more surprise for Sandra then I'm finished apart from a bit of food. I was lucky the other week and found everything I needed in one day then wrapped it all the following day, so I don't have much left to do now.
Does anyone on here have a subscription that covers newspapers? Mine doesn't but I've found the articles I was after on Genes and was wondering if someone might be able to let me know what it says, or email it to me if it's possible? It did say a bit more than other bits I've seen online so I'm pretty sure the girls were killed by a drunk driver, but it would be nice if it could be confirmed so I can let my OH know. I hope you all don't mind me asking?
I'm off to bed shortly as Sandra and OH have finally finished catching up with the recordings of "I'm a Celebrity get me out of here" they had six to watch so it's taken them all day. I'm not keen on the programme so I've been watching other things on the TV in the living room. I think they're as tired as me now as Sandra has just gone to get ready for bed and I don't think we'll be far behind her.
See you all tomorrow Night NIght

Morning all,
We have a bright morning for a change which is really nice. There are still clouds in the sky but the sun has gotten through now and then and at least its not raining.
Gill I pm'd you.
Hope all slept well. I went out like a light again last night and only got up once and went back to bed and fell asleep right away.
Well that time has come around again when I have to do the Advent ring for the church so that will interupt my crafts for a day or so. Will see if I can get it done today I think then thats out of the way.
Ineed to varnish some things today and I want to get the Dragon eggs finished.
Sandra card is still on the top of my pc box on my desk.
I must tell you I am so releived to have heard from my cousin in Ohio this morning. She's still able to sew, knit and hook rugs. Her own words. I must admit I was getting very worried not hearing from her and I don't know if the daughter would let me know if anything happened to her.
Well I better get on while its dry and cut some stuff for this ring.
Thinking of Jane with love. <3 <3 <3

Morning All,
More dreary here and rain expected later.
I hope your throats feel a bit better today Gill. Honey and lemon will help soothe them and I get my little bottles from the Co-op.
Thanks for letting us know what the nutritionist advised for Jane Mel as we were wondering what she'd said. Flax seed has good fats in it and I sprinkle it on my porridge when I have it. I'm glad you heard from your cousin at last and that she is still able to be doing her hobbies. I remember worrying when I stopped hearing from my 89 year old Californian penfriend years ago. She was a spinster and like you I thought no-one would let me know if anything happened to her. Her great niece found my details in her address book though and wrote to let me know when she passed away. Good idea to get on with the Advent ring, so you can concentrate on other things once it is done.
OH has gone to get his ADBLUE replaced on his car. I rang them yesterday and they could do it this morning as they had a cancellation. I'm off to the hairdressers for 1.00pm for a cut and colour so that will be most of the afternoon gone! I shall be relieved to get it cut though as it has had to wait a fortnight extra this time and I was beginning to feel ready for a pony tail as Frank would say! :-D OH has the worst stiffness in his neck and shoulders this morning and had a fitful night. I think most of him hurts but that is the worst! I said this morning we should get him some new slippers, but he replied that he wants 'non slippers'. :-) Better get ready now in case he wants to go somewhere when he's back.

Morning all....just
It's pouring with rain here today and not very warm either. My throat is still sore, I don't know about Sandra as she's still asleep. I've not long woken up myself and had a shock at the time, I can't remember the last time I slept this long, but do feel better for it.
I noticed your PM last night as I was signing out Mel, thank you for offering to find the newspaper articles, OH is looking forward to reading them. I've sent you all the information I have on them and the name of the newspaper I saw the articles in along with what I think the headings are. I can only see bits and pieces of it so could only send you what I could see. OH said to say thank you for helping.
So today's the day for starting the wreaths, I love seeing them when you send us photo's and I'm looking forward to seeing them again this year if you take more photos. I'm pleased you've heard back from Ohio and that your cousin can still do all her hobbies, it must of been a worry for you not knowing how she was for so long.
Sorry to hear your OH is in so much pain today Ann, I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he has a better nights sleep tonight. You'll have your hair looking lovely in time for Christmas this afternoon, I hope the weather isn't as bad as we've got when you come out of the hairdressers. That was lucky there was a cancellation so your OH could get the Adblue replaced on his car, unfortunately I don't know what that is lol, but it sounds like you're both pleased it's being done so quickly.
My throat is still a bit sore but not as bad as yesterday when I woke up so hopefully it's starting to get better now, I hope it's the same for Sandra. She said she felt okay other than her throat hurting but I noticed last night when I was saying goodnight that she felt really hot, so I'll be keeping an eye on her today. She doesn't get ill very often but when she does it's normally quite bad for her, so I hope it starts to clears like mine and doesn't get any worse.
Going to get a cuppa then catch up with a few programmes I've recorded for OH and I, we couldn't watch them together yesterday as he was busy catching up with recordings Sandra and him wanted to watch which took until around midnight to watch. I've been waiting for ages to catch up with The Repair Shop with him so I'm looking forward to watching them today.
Thanks Mel for letting us know about Jane, I was also wondering how she got on with the nutritionist. I hope the advice has helped her. Thinking of you Jane <3 <3

Good afternoon all, Tesco weekly shop done and put away and OH has gone for a few holes of golf to see how muddy it is. However the sun has gone and we are looking like getting more rain so he will soon be home again. We sent our postal votes off this morning so that is out of the way. I wonder if everyone else will be as glad as us when this election is over. I know you are not on facebook but things get really nasty and personal on there sometimes. Best ignored of course.
Mel thanks for letting us know how Jane got on with the nutritionist, sound like she has got things under control with blitzing ready meals, that should build her strength up a bit ready foe the chemo. Keep at it Jane <3 <3 Look forward to seeing your advent rings as well Mel.
Gill hope Sandra's throat is better today, is ther anything she or you can take toe ase any temperature maybe aspirin? But Honey and lemon or hot blackcurrant squash for the throat would be good. And Gill, just to say I have put a small packet in the post for you sending your card early for Christmas as I wanted to get the little Christmas present in the post for Sandra. Nothing much just a little present. I should go through your letter box but posted second class could be there Saturday.
Annx Oh dear poor OH painful necks are among the worst to suffer from, especially when driving. Have you got any volterol or deep heat he can use?
Talking of penfriends. I had two UK ones that just stopped writing and I didn't have a clue what had happened, One I eventually found out from penfriends magazine that she had died, only in her 50s of a bleed on the brain. The other lady I had been writing to since early sixties and suddenly 2 years back didn't hear at Christmas and have not heard since, she was almost 90 so I can only assume. Another English penfriend who lived in Cyprus and who wrote fantastically interesting letter suddenly stopped. I did eventually hear from her son that she had died suddnely, she was about my age so it was a shock (this was about 10 years ago.
Better get some lunch, we shared a sausage bap at 0930 so not too hungry but will be later. :-) :-)

Good afternoon
A short post today as I have a monster of a headache. I think it’s what I call a sick headache rather than a true migraine but I don’t want to look at the screen for long.
Got my hair cut this morning and did a bit of shopping. The traffic was appalling and I didn't think I would ever get out of the car park. But eventually some kind man stopped and let me out. This afternoon I have been attempting to write some Xmas cards but my writing was getting shakier and shakier so I gave up after about 10.
I hope everyone’s bruises, sore throats, aches and pains are getting better. Frank, please be careful moving about and, as Ann said, ring the surgery and see what they say. Thinking of you and Jane <3

Our sore throats aren't to bad today Vera, sorry to hear you have a sicky headache and hope it clears soon for you. It must be a day for hair cuts, Ann was having hers cut this afternoon to. That was kind of the man to let you out of the car park, that's the problem this time of year, to much traffic. Good idea to leave the Christmas cards for now until you feel better. I haven't started writing my cards out yet so you're ahead of me already ;-) ;-) :-)
Thanks for letting me know about the parcel AnnG, I'll keep an eye out for it, we wouldn't want it disappearing again like the one Mel sent a few weeks ago. I'll put it away with all the other's ready for Sandra on Christmas day. I've mentioned you have sent her a pressie and she said to say thank you <3 <3 I'll definitely be glad when the election is over, we have enough to do this time of year without having to remember to go and vote. I feel sorry for the postman as we've had lots of information lately posted through our door and with all the extra post the poor man must be exhausted, this horrible cold damp weather won't help either.
I agree with the other's Frank, you really should go and see a doctor, you don't sound right at all. At the very least it'll put your mind at rest.
How are you getting on with your wreath's Mel? I hope the weather was dry when you went outside to collect the things you need.
Going to carry on with The Repair Shop programmes now, we still have a few of them to get through. Did anyone see the sewing box/table one? What a lovely item, I didn't think it could be fixed but the young lad did a fantastic job on it and the look on the woman's face when she picked it up was priceless?

Yes, phone the surgery as someone suggested Frank, you don't sound right at all. I expect having to sit so much doesn't help, but you aren't safe to walk about much till your eye is sorted.
Vera those sick headaches are horrid and I would have given up writing cards till it passes too. I hope you are feeling a bit better now.
I hope Mandy got her stuff to the tip today and that it stayed dry for her.
AnnG, I had the lady as a penfriend for 19 years, since I was aged 17 and she was aged 70 so that was in the 60s too. She was supermarket shopping having driven there in her car when she had the stroke that killed her. I did miss her letters as she was very funny. Some of us are on Facebook you know, I am and I know at least Jane and Frank are, also Shirl, Maureen, Will and Pat that used to post on here. I expect there are plenty of nasty comments as you say, but I don't see them as I mostly stick to craft and photography groups I've joined and my friends' pages. I agree it will be good when the election is over, although I dread the possible outcome.
Well I've never spent 3 and a half hours in the hairdressers before! I decided to ring OH after 2 hours in case he wondered if something had happened to me as I hadn't said I could be late or was going elsewhere after. They had had a fire drill earlier which meant they had to stand outside with customers with dripping hair (glad I wasn't in earlier!), and that had put them behind. Then she'd had an old customer whose wife had passed away a few days ago and was tearful and needing to talk. He was still there when I arrived and even after he had paid and left , he returned a few minutes later to show my hairdresser a lot of photos! I thought she'd never get started. Yes, it was raining and dark by the time I left Gill and I hadn't even worn a coat. I see you are now waiting for 2 packages! Sandra will be looking out for the postman! ADBLUE is a liquid that is squirted automatically into the exhaust of more recent diesels to help neutralise harmful emissions.
We are still waiting for the fence man to collect what we owe him. We couldn't pay him on the day as he only gave us an hour's notice he was coming to do the job. I asked him to call the day after he did the fence 6 days ago, but he still hasn't called and he only lives a couple of miles away. The trouble is OH has been out most evenings this week and it means I can't get my jimjams on nice and early like I usually do in case I have to answer the door to him. :-S ;-)

Vera I have answered your pm with a good result in my second message.
What a todo at the hairdressers Ann. Its nice and comfy in your jimjams is'nt it. I usually get undressed earlier in the evening before watching my programs so I am ready when I feel I have to go to bed.
Hope the headache has gone tomorrow Vera and you feel better.
For those of you with bad throats get your self some Manuka Honey a good strength and have a half a teaspoon now and then it works a treat.

AnnG I think a fire drill has to operate as if it is the real thing or there isn't much point having one, so I would expect to go outside whether my hair was wet or not. Yes of course they apologised several times and kept me supplied with drinks. We stayed in a new hotel in London once when the fire alarm (practice, but we didn't know it) went off at 6.00am, so we had to stand outside shivering in the cold in the dark, some in quite skimpy bedwear! When I was at work if the fire alarm went off we had to leave the building and without your coat if you were in a different part of the building, whatever the weather. The fire alarm triggering would automatically cause a Fire Engine to be despatched and we would have to wait outside while they came and checked all the building as they had to treat it as a real alarm too and not just a practice. We also had a bomb alarm! There was an Army recruitment place next to our building, so we took that one very seriously as it was a possible target for that sort of thing.
We are the same Mel and both like to be ready for bed early, especially in the Winter. It's cosy and as you say, you can just pop straight to bed when you are tired whereas after undressing I can be wide awake again. :-D You are good finishing some things off before you start the ring and wreaths, but I see you have been making something too. I like to do paintings in good daylight so know what you mean.....it's easier to be accurate and get the colours right. I've said to OH that we need some brighter lights in some rooms.
I'm up late/early? to buy some beads from a place online that's closing. As it's Black Friday they have increased their discount to 75% from midnight so I've bought a few. Not much choice left, but I found some that I can use.

Morning all
Very frosty here today and boy is it cold. I worry when it's like this incase the water pipes freeze, we had that happen to us once and it's not very nice. We think it had something to do with the outside tap so we cover that with some bubble wrap now, which so far has worked, but I still have my concerned of freezing pipes happening again.
I've replied to your PM Mel. I was wondering if you could get hold of the images as there only seems to be parts of the stories and I couldn't see if the driver was convicted and if so, what the sentence was. Don't worry if you can't, I just thought I'd ask on the off chance you could. Thanks for the info you sent, it looks like I was right and the girls were killed by a drunk driver.
It sounds like you've been really busy with your crafts, good idea to do the painting in good daylight, it would be easier on your eyes to.
So you found some bargains online Ann, well worth staying up late for. I had a bit of a run on OH's tree, so probably went to bed around the same time as you. That was a long time at the hairdressers I bet you were glad to be home, what a pity about the weather, I hope it didn't spoil your new hair do. Thanks for letting me know what Adblue was, that's my something new learnt for today :-D :-D ;-)
I think I'll catch up with some more recordings today, OH and I finally got through all "The Repair shop" programmes yesterday, so I might watch the Apprentice later. I forgot Sandra and I hadn't seen the end of yesterdays Kirstie and deleted it by mistake, I think I recorded it on another system, so will check and we can watch the end when she's awake.
Going to make myself a cuppa now, my first one tasted funny so it had to be thrown away and I've let my second one go cold. We've had the water board in our street for a few days so I'm wondering if the funny tasting tea had something to do with them. It tasted awful, it's the second time that has happened lately, I hope it doesn't happen again. I have black tea so can taste anything different straight away, whereas OH has milk and sugar so didn't noticed anything.
