Afternoon All,

Humid and sunny today with a few black clouds around.

That's good he is improving bit by bit Vera. It's a shame to have to forgo a few events, but it's too soon yet and even if it was more possible, he's best not to even try as I find you you overdo things when you are with other people!

Well I seem to be 'opposite' as I had an awful night last night and was still awake gone 3.00am! Of course once it was time to be up early for class I could have slept for hours! :-S The tie dyeing wasn't quite as I expected as we were limited to using one colour. I thought we would have bottles of each colour to use, but because there were quite a few of us, the colour was made up in 4 buckets, each a different colour and she didn't want us to transfer any colour to the other buckets by using other colours as well. It will still be interesting to see the effect though. I did a spiral on mine, but some concertina folded theirs and some did a graduated dip so the colour was dark at the bottom and gradually faded upwards. I must say I felt like an ageing hippie doing mine. :-) It is now sitting in a bowl all squashed together with rubber bands till it dries tomorrow, then the interesting part will be undoing and washing it to see what it is like. We did get rubber gloves to use, but mine must have had specs of blue dye inside as my fingers had blue spots on them when I took the gloves off. We did some more needle felting then and my friend with the big cats had brought some of her cat's hair to try and use. It was very soft so I think it will work ok when she tries it. On the way home I called at another friend's as she said she had some foam offcuts and offered me a piece to do the needle felting on to save buying any. She is the one who can turn her hand to most things and she had the offcuts as she is reupholstering a headboard at the moment. When I got home and passed the lounge mirror I thought something didn't look quite right with me, so moved closer and peered into it. Well blow me I did feel a right twerp!!!! lol. I'd only gone out in some of the stud type pearl type earrings I'd made and put a blue one in one ear and a red one in the other!!!!!! :-D :-D None of my friends told me either. lol Maybe they thought I was setting a new trend??? Whatever next.......pants on top of my jeans??

That was another interesting day AnnG. I'm always amazed at the number of gardens Capability Brown designed. We are NT members for quite a few years now and it saves a fortune on the entry prices they charge doesn't it and a few visits soon covers the cost of the subs. They have a rough terrain scooter you can hire at Botallack mine in Cornwall. It's good they have started to provide things for the less mobile to be able to enjoy the grounds to their properties. I will have a look at your blog next.

It sounds like you are on a roll again with your FH Gill. How many rellies are on your tree now? At least your new neighbours are being no trouble to you but fancy their new gate not having the extra support like yours.

Sounds like you enjoyed your tie dyeing Ann. You must show us a pic when it washed and dried. We did that at school and it was amazing. We tied stones in ours and the rubber bands to secure it but we were only aloud to use one colour.

I went out by my shed in the end as I could get back in the kitchen quickly if I got too hot. I have had a good sweep and cut off a lot of weeds growing between the little wall and the tarmac. I also gave the bantams a lot of what I thought were empty pots of compost and they had a great time scratching though the soil finding little things to eat and having a dust bath in the soil. Tonight after dinner I swept them out and it was soooooo dusty so now I am going in the hsower to get all the dirt off of me.

Morning Mel, morning all,

Nice and sunny here but we could be in for a few showers so I need to get my washing out .

Haven't had a chance to read any posts lately as we've been in the garden and the children have been here in the pool so I hope everyone is OK and the poorly ones are improving .
Is it today you have your staples out Jane? you'll feel more comfortable when they are out ,less pulling on the scar , hope Fitz is coming along nicely too.

Frank Report 11 Jul 2019 11:14

Good morning Mel, Mandy and all,

I really don't know whats happened to my sleep paten. After dinner last night 7.30 pm I felt so tired, so with one of my horrible headaches in my right temple, I went to bed to just lie and rest. I laid for over three hours and decided to get up for a drink. Ros made me a Horlicks, and I sat in the armchair for an hour. Tried sleeping again, with no luck, so got up and read until 3.30. Ros was in a beautiful sleep, and I just couldn't get off. By 5,00 an I was ready to get up again, but just laid until 7.00 am. Then got uo and made tea.

I've just shaved, and went into the shower, it showed LOW PRESSURE and the water was stone cold. Eos had the WM on, but that doesn't usually affect the shower. So I will wait until the WM is finished and try agin.

Glad to see everyone is showing signs of improvement, health wise. It must really get you down, feeling under the weather.

Pleasant sort of morning here, but no WALL TO WALL sunshine, plenty of cloud, and the forecast is showers with possible THUNDER STORMS. So I think we all should up sticks, and move South to DEVON. lol lol

I am not sure how many National Trust houses there are in our area. Or that Ros would be interested in driving around to find them.I know that those of you who are members, seem to enjoy your trips out.

Ros is at choir tonight, and out tomorrow with Carolyn to Milton Keynes. I know she wants a new fitted bottom sheet, as one of ours has the elastic broken.

Jane if you are having the staples out today, I hope you feel better afterwards, and are soon on the road to full recovery.

Ros is cursing the DYSON, It keeps running out of charge, before she has finished doing what she wants. :-P :-P :-P

I think the WM has just finished, so will try the shower again. See you later. xxxx

Afternoon all

Started off lovely and sunny here today but now it's gone cloudy. I've watered the toms in the greenhouse and mum came to visit.

Hope all goes well today if you're having your staples out Jane. Are you sleeping any better?

OH had a lovely bath yesterday, the first proper one in 2 weeks. He wasn't in there as long as I thought he would be, but did have a good soak and said he felt much better after it. He doesn't need the dressing on now, the surgeon told him to let the air get to it. He is seeing him again at the end of the month, so hopefully he'll have a clean bill of heath off him then.

It's gone very dark here so I think we might be in for some rain.

Going to get something to eat now then watch a few things I recorded. I watched 8 days to the moon and back last night, what a brilliant programme it was. It's 50 years since the first man stood on the moon, I wasn't even 3 years old then.

Frank

Frank Report 11 Jul 2019 13:48

That's good your OH has had a nice bath Gill.

Ros was only saying the day before yesterday (Conrads Birthday) that she had him on he lap when they landed on the moon and said to him "Don't go to sleep, you must watch this." he was only days old. lol lol

We have very dark clouds all around us now, so I expect we will get a downpour soon.

Ros has just got the washing in, all dried and ready to be put away, or ironed.

I just had a very near miss, I got up from the chair and my right leg went DEAD, I stumbled and managed to grab the door to save me falling over. Don't know what caused that.

I am taking Ros out for something to eat later, it will save me cooking, as I really don't feel like it.

Annx Love the T shirt, very pretty. What did you think of the'furniture made by the W embroiderers guild in my photos?

Frank you had probably been sitting on a nerve maybe your sciatic nerve and that is why your leg was numb. (sittine too long without moving maybe.)

Gill pleased that your OH is sweet smelling again. That must make him feel a lot better.

It did rain here overnight but not much and we have not had the threatened showers today either. Which is good because it was our garden group meeting today, we visited the garden of one of our members plus his next door neighbours garden which is open to his at the bottom. She belongs to the horticultural society. Both gardens are really nice and both really large with mature fruit trees, lots of vegetables, she has three greenhouses. And she admits it is a lot of work, she is often out there all day. Luckily it didn't rain and was very pleasant so we were all able to sit out in the garden to chat and have a cup of tea.

Afternoon Everyone

Well staples are out now and I must say it does feel a lot more comfortable. But the bottom part of the wound is still a bit oozy so I have steristrips there and have to go back on Monday for a wound check. So no shower for me just yet :-( :-( The same with Fitz . His wound is dry but a bit of it is red so he too has to go back on Monday.
We managed get our appointments at 12.10 and 12.20 so Chris will be taking us both again. There was a medical emergency at the surgery and some poor old chap was stretchered away by the ambulance people . I have my physio appointment on Tuesday (not looking forward to that really) but Fitz has to wait until the 30th !!. There are just so few appointments available .As you can imagine he is not happy about that. Plus his appointment is miles away.

It is so humid today .The Fan is whirling away in here. No rain but I think we are forecast possible thunder at some point.

How long did your Dead Leg last Frank? That must have been a bit scary :-0At least you managed not to have a tumble.

I started this post about 2 hours ago !!!! and now I have lost track because I have had 3 phone calls . Plus 2 cold calls :-S Chris is still in charge of cooking . To be honest I think he has had enough LOL but being a trooper he won't have any help from me. I just have to butt out :-D

We have had Red Kites and 2 Buzzards flying over head this afternoon .Most unusual to see both kinds of birds .

Ann, I think you did a great job with your Tie Dye Shirt :-D :-D. It looks really good. Are you going to wear it? ;-) ;-)
Oh Janice has just sent me a pic of her new dog in his cage on the way from Spain.
She will pic him up from Gloucester Service Station tomorrow at 5pm :-D

Evening All,

When does the afternoon end and evening start? Just one of those random thoughts! I hope if it's the right day, that Jane has been unstapled and that the wound is more comfortable now. I wonder if Fitz was done yesterday?

I have emailed a pic of the tie dye, but it has dried since to a nice violet colour whereas it looks more bluey purple in the pic.

We've had a day of accidents between us. First, I was just going to flush the loo and remembered I needed to shut the window as we were going out so I grabbed the window key and blow me it jumped out of my fingers and did a dive into the loo before I had flushed it. Out with the rubber gloves again! Then we had just finished our lamb chop lunch in the conservatory and OH was taking his plate into the kitchen when he managed to knock against something and throw the plate, which smashed to smithereens and splattered gray all over the floor and cupboards. :-S

Was the shower ok in the end Frank? I've had 1 or 2 cold showers in the past when I was already soaked before I realised.and it takes your breath away! :-0 I sometimes start crossing my fingers when I've nearly finished hoovering with the battery Dyson! So annoying if they fizzle out when you've nearly finished.

Mel I hope your hip soon feels less achey. I find I don't need to do much to set off pains these days. Chickens love a bit of loose soil to scrat around in don't they and often you can't see what they gobble up. I was wondering if Mandy is making anything at the moment too. It will be a shame not to have another series of Poldark to look forward to.

Mandy I bet you are making the most of this nice weather with your pool. The children must love it and it helps them learn to swim too which is always a good thing. Still, it must be quite tiring for you too as little ones keep you on the go with one thing or another.

Gill your OH must have felt human again after his nice bath......I bet he thought it was the best one he'd ever had. :-) I was aged 22 and married when the first man stood on the moon! I remember thinking that it may never happen again given all the things that could go wrong and yet now we have a space station orbiting and I was watching the Planets prog recently where they were filming between Saturn's rings!

I was back to sleeping like a top again last night.

O Jane he looks a lovely boy Janice's new friend. He is such an unusual colour for a dog too. I love his eyes.

Ann the t shirt is great and what a nice colour and pattern. It really worked out well did'nt it?
I have found piece of the plastic foam I felt on and am going to send it to you. Its only small but its like the stuff I got in the beginers kit.

Well I hav'nt done much today as its so hot. I did pull some weeds before lunch and then potted up a cape primrose cutting I took in water, planted my cue in a pot and did some felt craft this afternoon.

Love the photos AnnG. Its so nice to see pics of where you went on holiday.

Not cooking tonight as we are going to have toasted cheese sandwiches and I hope the grill dos'nt grill me! ;-)

I think the evening starts about six Ann :-D

Oh that will teach you to put the lid down on the loo LOL
The tie dye has turned out well Ann i like the colour and the pattern on it too
It will be interesting to see how the felting with the cats fur that your friend is doing will turn out ,i thought of it when i was giving Max a good brush today as i should think i could have easily filled a mug with all his hair that i got from him and it looked quite like felt .
What are you making next week ?

I'm not making any thing at the moment Mel although i was quite tempted to have a go at some hearts like Ann made as they were pretty and i thought the girls might like them for their bedroom .

Gill i bet you won't get a look in for a bath now LOL has he been in again today :-D

Oh Frank as AnnG said perhaps it was a nerve that made your leg go dead ,i hope it feels better now and you both enjoy your meal out .

Glad it was a nice day for the garden group meet up today AnnG , three green houses and a big garden sounds quite a bit of work ,does she do it all on her own ?

He looks a beautiful dog Jane and i'm sure he will have a loving home with them,i bet they carn't wait to get him home ,it seems strange seeing him with a pink nose though as Max's nose is so black .
Where did you say he was coming from ,was it Spain ? i hope they speak a little Spanish LOL he might not understand any English
I bet it feels so much better now the staples are out ,you might even sleep a little better ,where has the two weeks gone ,just think four more and you'll be driving again .

Chelsea will be moving on to high school in September so tonight she has a leavers disco at her school ,she has a pretty new dress and new sandals and i think DIL said some one should be coming to do her hair ,i bet she will look so grown up .
I'm going to have a look at AnnG's blog photo's now .

Annx Report 11 Jul 2019 21:21

That's a very kind offer Mel, but really I'm ok now I have the foam my friend cut for me. It's about a foot by 9 inches and works well as I tried it last night. If you send me yours you won't have any yourself either in case you suddenly decide to do some. :-) :-) Thank you anyway as I do appreciate your kind offer. The same lady even gave me some felting needles as her OH had some from years ago when he worked in either textiles or teaching.

Mandy, I think the lid down first will be the priority now before locking the window!! lol. Yes, the hearts are so quick to do as well, but my friend I just mentioned said the quickest way if you do a few is to draw a paper pattern with the quarter inch border drawn in, then photocopy as many for the number you are making. Then pin each pattern to a layer of material and felt and zip around the sewing line on each with the sewing machine leaving a gap for stuffing. All you need to do then is cut them out and pull away the paper pattern. :-)

I hope now the staples are out you can sleep a bit better Jane. I remember having a bit of weepy wound after my hysterectomy and having antibiotics for it. The little dog does have unusual eye colour doesn't he. Yes he won't speak english will he, but at least he will know his name. I wonder how the other dogs will react to him, hopefully without growls!! How many will Janice have now including this one? How are you doing with your little walks now. Is it getting easier and is Fitz doing his?

I thought the furniture with embroidery was clever and interesting AnnG but a bit fussy for me personally, although I could appreciate the skill and workmanship. I couldn't help but think of all the dust it would gather!! lol. It must have taken them ages to do. I did like the painted frieze on the wall and the reconstructed picture.

I have a nice little pile of cards to open tomorrow! :-D I shall still be going to beading though so had better get my bag packed ready now and then have an early night.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 Jul 2019 22:47

Morning all,

Another bright day but there re clouds in the sky. We had some rain last night at about a quarter to 12am for over an hour but it was still raining very lightly when I went to bed. The gaden really needed it so I hope it did some good there.

When I came out this morning there sitting on the bird tabel was one of the baby Blackbirds looking around as much as to say "Where's my breakfast?".

Its Friday AGAIN, where do the weeks go?

Gillx Report 12 Jul 2019 11:10

Morning all

Horrible fine rain here at the moment, it stayed dry long enough for me to gather up all the leaves that keep falling off my two tall Red Robin's. The last thing I need is for the leaves to start going inside the grill around the bungalow that took me almost 5 hours to clear. My fingers still haven't healed properly so I don't want them injured again if I have to re-do the job. So that job is out of the way now.

Yes, OH enjoyed his first bath and will be having another one today, he didn't think it was advisable to have one every day at the start as he was told the skin is very thin around his belly button so he didn't want it wet all the time, there is still a bit of dry blood around the cut, but over time that should gently wash away.

Oh what a lovely picture of Jorge Jane, he's so cute. I bet Janice can't wait for tonight, I wonder if she had much sleep last night with all her excitement. Pleased to hear your staples are out now and that you feel more comfortable now. Another step forward in your recovery. You and Fitz having the appointments together was lucky, it'll save Chris going twice now. Good luck with your physio, it won't be long now before you're back to your normal self again and be able to sleep however you please. Are you still having to sleep on your back, I hope if you are, you're starting to get use to it and sleeping a bit better now.

I love your tie dye T Shirt Ann, it's really good, you'd never know you hadn't done it before. I love the colour and the spiral pattern. Will you be making anymore? Hope you have an accident free day today, after everything going wrong yesterday. I've thought the same as you as to when the afternoon ends and the evening starts, I tend to think around 5pm. I just Googled it and it seems it is around 5pm. I wonder who decided though :-S :-S It's funny the things we think about isn't it, like where does an itch go, once you've scratched it? LOL :-D :-D

You've had fun in the garden and pool with the children Mandy, I hope you keep the good weather so you can all enjoy the pool for the summer. So Chelsea is off to big school in September, I bet she can't wait. Did she enjoy her leavers disco last night?

It sounds like you had a lovely time looking around the two gardens AnnG, I can imagine it would be a lot of work for your friend but well worth it. Some more lovely pictures on your blog I see.

How lovely to see one of the baby Blackbirds Mel, I'll let Sandra know, as she's been asking about them.

Going to get a cuppa now, the fine rain has stopped, so I'll water the toms in the greenhouse after my drink. OH is watching the practice runs on the F1, we're both looking forward to the race on Sunday.
