Hi everyone
I'm glad you have had a nice day Jane and had a bit of a celebration with Fitz and his OH. I'm not surprised you are tired now. Funnily enough I was up making tea at 2.45 as well, clearly great minds think alike.
Gill, you will have to keep reminding OH not to lift things. You know what these men are like ;-) They all need a woman to watch over them.
I bet Ros felt silly knocking her drink over, Frank. I hope her clothes weren't badly stained. It's good to hear that Winston had no lasting effects from his little adventure.
Lucky you Mel, you do have lots of wildlife around you. I suppose it is being in a rural area. When we lived in a little hamlet in the middle of farmland there was always something to see in the garden or the fields around us and I missed that when we moved into town.
I bet the children have been glad of a dip in your pool in the hot weather Mandy and I am not at all surprised they exhaust Max. Kiddies are tiring for anyone but isn't it lovely when you hear them playing and laughing.
I don't mind watching a bit of tennis, unlike some of you, though I couldn't sit there glued to the screen for hours on end but it has been a boon this week. It's given OH something to do as he likes a bit of tennis and at the moment he can't seem to concentrate on his book or the computer. Now the Tour de France has started he'll be in his element as competitive cycling was his sport when he was young.
I knew it would rain today as last night I got the hosepipe out for the first time this year. We try not to use it more than necessary but the ground was so dry and some of the shrubs were starting to wilt so I spent a couple of hours moving it round the garden. It was dry this morning, though there was no sun shining, but it has rained on and off since about 3.30. It's horribly muggy though, there doesn't seem to be any air. Since OH has been poorly I've been leaving him on his own in our downstairs bedroom which is the coolest room in the house. I am sleeping upstairs and as this is a chalet type house I am up under the eaves and it is so hot. At the moment he is the one who needs to be comfortable so I shall just have to put up with it.
Right, I think I will now go and have a look at the crossword in today's paper, then make a drink and take my book to bed. Sleep tight everyone.

Morning all
Sunny again here so OH has just watered the garden, as a rule we normally do it in the evening but some of the plants really needed a drink now and with the sun we've got today they would of only got worse without a drink, so that job's done. I've just had to run outside and turn the tap off, I forgot to let OH know I'm going to weed the front garden and he'd just gone around there to water it. I caught him in time so I wont be weeding in soggy soil.
I see you went to Fitz yesterday Jane, it sounds like you had a nice time. How is he recovering, is he going to walks like you?
Isn't that always the case Vera you get the hose pipe out then it rains, it makes you feel like you've wasted your time doesn't it. Mind you I don't suppose the plants mind the extra drink in all this nice weather. It sound like you and Jane didn't have a good night sleep the other night, hope you both had a better one last night.
I love all the county cottage plants to Mel, they always seem to brighten the garden up. I hope you managed to clear a space for yours. I'll let Sandra know the Blackbirds have fledged now.
Yes, I will be keeping an eye on OH Ann, he saw the empty watering can by the outside tap and just didn't think. I've moved a few more pots around today, the big one I had to move yesterday still wasn't in the right place so that's been moved again, hopefully it'll be okay now. It's a pot of Monbretia and the leave really spread so were covering other plants around it which were dying off because of the lack of light and rain. It's now been put between my two tall Red Robins to fill that gap, so should be okay there.
My washing machine has just finished so I'll go and peg that out then get on with the weeding in the front garden before it gets to hot, this early in the morning there shouldn't be to many people around so hopefully the weeding won't take to long. Our front garden is south facing so can get to hot for me if I leave these jobs to late in the day.

Morning Gill and all,
Slept like a log last night. sorry for all those who are trying to get a good nights sleep, but I was gone the moment my head hit the pillow. It must have been all the digging I did yesterday up the border. Hips are a bit achey too this morning as when I pick weeds up I don't bend down but bend from the waist. If I kneel I can't get up of I get pins and needles in my feet and I can only kneel with my kneeler thing oh bought me.
So what are you all up to today? anything exciting? anything enjoyable? anything nice?
I am a sucker for punishment and am going up the border again after lunch. The deer have eaten all the front off the daisy heads but this year I am seeing a few Day Lillies in flower which is nice as they usually eat all those flowers off. Its a bit sole distroying when you wait to see your flowers bloom and then along come the deer and rabbits and eat them off just as they are starting to come out. We don't seem to have had the usual mother deer who brought her babies to the garden each year I think its just the babies now.
Have I told you there is a white deer in the herd out the front of us on Em's dads land? I must ask Em to tell me when they are out there and see if I can get a photo. Its like a ghost in the field amoung the other usual brown ones.

Morning all Gosh Gill up and going early this morning. Mel, I suppose the joy of seeing all the animals and birds is balanced by the damage some of them cause.
We are off to Tewkesbury later to meet up with 6 of our ex RN group who are staying there for three days. Not worth us paying out for a hotel as it is only 20 minutes away for us.

Good morning
You did get going early today Gill. It gives you a nice feeling when you get moving and get a job done, doesn’t it. I was like that yesterday afternoon. I’d been meaning to sort out a big cupboard under the eaves for a long while so yesterday I gritted my teeth and got it done. I now have 2 big suitcases full of stuff for the charity shop, the suitcases are going too, and I have a tidy cupboard. I felt very smug when I finished.
Enjoy your day with your RN friends AnnG. It’s good to keep in touch with old friends.
A small club we belong to has its summer party today. OH couldn’t manage and I wasn’t going either but the lady hosting it was upset because so many people were away or unwell and she thought there would be no-one there, so OH has persuaded me to go. It is just local so I can get back very quickly if he needs me and I won’t stay till the end. It starts at 12.30 and people stay as long as they want, usually well into the evening. I’ll probably come back late afternoon.
OH is going in the right direction in that he is improving but very slowly. Still, it is an improvement and slow and steady will get us there in the end.
Yikes, just noticed the time. If I am going out in half an hour I had better go and shower. Have a nice day everyone :-)

Enjoy your outing Vera and its nice to know that hubby is improving slowly and steadily. That was a good job you did yesterday so you must feel pleased with yourself and others will gain from your clearing out too when the suitcases with things in go to the charity shop.
I have done a bit of watering and the girls and its so hot out there today I have had to come in.
Good news I have two ripe tomatoes on my Sungold plant in the shed. I think I said before that I have trained it across the front windows of the shed. It looks a bit wierd but it is working.

Afternoon All,
Sun's out but it's not humid now which is nice. OH was up about 8.00am and has dug out the last 2 shrubs the cats have ruined and also taken out a couple of self set Leycesteria, the Golden Lanterns variety. I was going to pot them up for my friends but time just passes doesn't it and before I knew it they were far too big to move. I don't have one now as the wind blew the original down, but I miss it and see there are seedlings growing in the gravel so will pot some up and see how they do. Gill I had to water some pots this morning and OH had to water the beans. Our back garden faces south so gets boiling hot too so I know what you mean! I've been round with the slug pellets and scale insect spray too and tied up the cue and toms. We have one half ripe tomato Mel and have had 3 cues. They seem late this year. I bet your Sungold looks fine, especially once there are more tomatoes on it.
I hope AnnG and Vera enjoy their day visiting friends. Vera it must have been a hot job sorting the cupboard out, but very satisfying once it was done. It's nice to help the charity shops too! :-) Good that hubby has some things to watch on TV that he likes while he is improving.
Jane lunch sounded very nice and tasty at Fitz's. I still remember having my first ever pickled walnut at his place and being surprised I liked it! lol. I hope he is doing as well as you, but expect he isn't following the rules to the letter!!
I am the same having to bend from the waist Mel and that's what often sets my back off. I don't get the pins and needles though. It must be annoying when your labour of love gets eaten!! :-S I've only ever grown the day lilies and they are over so quickly I didn't keep them as in a small garden you need things that go on and on.
Last episode of Gentleman Jack tonight. I am doing my beading next while it is nice and light!

Afternoon all, I am late on parade today, due to so many things I have done. With Harvey coming after 5.00 pm for dinner. I have Podded a load of fresh peas and Broard Beans, The peas that Ros got from Waitrose had hardly any PEAS in the pods, but I then went on to Morrison's that she bought yesterday, and they packed out the pods. The Broard beans are grown for Carolyn by a guy called Doug. For whatever reason, John and Carolyn pay the rent on this allotments and pay for all the seeds etc.As there is only the two of them, they can't eat all the produce, so we get some from her. Which of course is lovely, as it's fresh picked.
I spent as least two hours in the kitchen, preparing all the veg, making the sauces and Yorkshire pudding mix. I have a LEG of lamb from the freezer, which I have studded with Garlic, and loads of Rosemary, drizzled in Olive oil, salt and pepper. That is ticking away in the oven on around125 degrees, so should be just right for dinner tonight. Harvey is bringing a plate for Lewis, so he will have his when he gets home from work, and his evening out with his pals.
Ros has been feeling very hot, and has been perspiring like there's no tomorrow. Her hair is quite damp, and the sweat is running in her eyes. I on the other hand am quite cool, sitting in a pair of shorts.
Mel I don't think it would have mattered is =you had gone to do the girls in your JIMJAMS, You don't have anyone who can see you, do you. ??
Nice that you had a birthday drink with Fitz and his OH. How is he coming along.??
Gill, Your Oh must try to stop trying to do to much to soon, he will undo all the good work that has been done by the hospital. NAUGHTY BOY. SMACK HIS LEGS. lol lol
So your OH is slower progressing then Vera. Slowly does it. !! I hope he is soon back to his old self.
Ann, that was fortunate that G found two matches to choose from. Most of the clubs have finished their fixtures by now, I know Blisworth have, they are now having friendly matches to keep them fit, and now regular training sessions.Oh to be young and fit again. lol
I am feeling just about bushed, having been so busy this morning. I am going to settle down with the paper and a beer for an hour, then I will have to start cooking around 5,00 pm. A WOMANS work is never done, is it. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Enjoy this lovely weather, I know I will. I will sit outside with my beer and paper. xxxx

Evening All I have tried several times to start this post but keep getting interrupted either by Chris or the phone.
I hope AnnG and Vera have had a lovely day with friends.
Gill, how is OH ? hopefully not over doing it today. It is good that he is able to drive now even if it is just short distances. I am missing being able to drive and do the shopping. It will still be a few weeks before I will be allowed to drive.
I have got my hair washed this afternoon and my feet have had a good soak in a bowl.Chris bless him gave my inbetweeny toes a nice rub :-D. It was heaven :-D. Then it was the struggle getting these blooming compresion socks on again.
Fitz rang just now for our daily catch up. He is doing fine but not walking quite as easily as me. But he is getting around really well. I can't wait for the last Gentleman Jack Ann. (as long as I can stay awake). I was fast asleep just now but got woken by the phone. Chris is doing dinner and I think it is nearly ready.I got the potatoes and veg all prepared . One of my presents was a Cream Tea from Hannah and James .It arrived in the post from Devon. 4 Scones, Clotted Cream and a jar of lovely Strawberry Jam. Two small bottles of Prosecco to go with it too :-D :-D. We had a Scone each this afternoon so still have 2 left.
Frank, I hope your Leg of Lamb is good ,It sounded really nice with all the Rosemary and Garlic :-D
I have not seen a White Deer before Mel. I wonder if it is Albino? Time to go now so will be back tomorrow sometime. I have a friend coming in the morning for coffee .

We had a pleasant afternoon with our friend. Six of us met in the hotel where they are staying and had a light lunch, the last two arrived ,having been taken by the ‘pretty’ route by their sat nav, about two hours later. We took a very pleasant trip on a flat bottomed launch lasting about 45 minutes there were just the 8 of us on board, the sun shone and it was warm and really pleasant on the river. We left them to come home and got in at 5pm. Jane they are eating at the Salerno this evening.

One of the matches was a special memorial match Frank in memory of a young player who collapsed and died of a heart problem at a match OH went to a few years ago. The other was a friendly I think, but I know NOTHING about footie!! lol Your lamb sound very tasty, my favourite meat!
Yes that's just what I thought about naughty Frank too Mel! We'll have to remind him next time he misbehaves. :-) ;-) I still have a few plants to put in, but now OH has cleared those shrubs I can start on the gaps in the island beds. It needs some more soil at the back of the top of the waterfall as some has washed down the slope. I can part bury some slate around the top to stop it happening again and it will also hold back some of the water when it rains and stop it being too dry. I was wondering if the deer was an albino too, but I doubt you will be able to be close enough to see the colour of it's eyes.
I bunged my old jeans and T shirt for doing jobs in in the wash as I want to wear them when we do the tie dyeing on Wednesday and she said to wear old clothes. I also need to exchange the T shirt I'm doing at Primark tomorrow. Their sizes seem to be a size (or even two) smaller than M&S. :-S
Jane you are recovering far sooner than I expected! It must be nice to feel you are getting back to some normality, and good to be able to help by doing the veg. The cream tea sounds delicious, you are making me want one now! lol :-D It will be nice to have a chat with your friend tomorrow.
Better go and settle down for GJ now. OH does fret if you aren't seated in good time. :-(

Hoping it will turn out like yesterday this afternoon as we are back off up to Tewkesbury to meet our friends. should have gone this morning but OH decided he just had to practice his golf for an important (to him) competition on Wednesday.
Jane you seem to be progressing nicely. And now you must feel better after being 'top and tailed (hair and toes). I wonder why Fitz is not progressing as well as you are? Maybe it is to do with encouragement
Annx yes Primark sizes are smaller then M&S. which is a pain if you buy on spec and don't remember.

Morning AnnG and all,
We have a brightish morning here with blueish grey sky. I am hopeing it will turn better as the day goes on. Last night it clouded over for a while but later the sky was clearer and the stars were shining and the midges were out in force and watching a hog I got bitten on the neck and eyebrow.
I think the sun is just about to put in an appearance so I better get the washer on.

Morning all
Another sunny day here today. I was so busy yesterday I didn't get the chance to come back on here. I did loads of washing including the bedding, weeded the front garden and sorted out some more of the back, made lunch, cleaned the fan in the bedroom, which was bliss last night and helped me have a better nights sleep and then settled down to watch the last of Gentleman Jack, shortly after that I was in bed and fell asleep almost straight away.
OH had a proper bath (of sorts) yesterday, I'd run one for myself then all of a sudden I thought of an idea where OH could have the bath. I have a plastic fold up stool about 10 inches high so gave that a good clean and popped in in the bath for him to sit on, the water covered the lower part of his body without going over his dressing, I then got a flannel and popped it on his back then poured the water over it, this stopped the water running over his shoulders on down onto his dressing. I didn't use the flannel at first and some water dribbled down so I got a tea towel and he held it over his dressing. He said it was lovely to feel the warm water on his back. Being half in the water it felt like a proper bath and more refreshing than a flannel wash. I just wish I'd thought of this when he first had his op. I didn't wash his hair in the bath as the water would of definitely gone on his dressing, so did that over the sink. I got a washing bowl before his op so he's been washing his feet in that every day, it's easier than sitting on the edge of the bath as he can sit on the sofa where it's more comfortable. He's still looking forward to Wednesday though, when he can actually lie in a bath. I said to Sandra he'll get in the bath in the morning and not get out again until the afternoon and just keep topping the bath up with hot water lol :-D :-D They both laughed when I said that.
He's gone to see his mate today, he only lives around the corner but I think he's about ready for some male company now. It'll be nice for him to have a chat without any women around.
You've all been very busy with one thing and another, days out and sorting out cupboards and gardens, it's nice when all these jobs are out of the way isn't it? The charity shops are going to be pleased with all your things Vera.
I've decided to see if I can find some nice plants in flower to add to our garden as it's still very green with not much colour at the moment, so I might nip out to the garden centre tomorrow if OH feels up to it and it's not to hot. I don't have anymore jobs to do today so I'm going to relax and enjoy doing nothing for a change. I seem to be meeting myself coming back lately. ;-) I might take another look at OH's tree, I seem to be getting on well with it lately, even if it is at a slower pace than normal, with being so busy.
It sound like you're doing really well with your recovery Jane, pity Fitz's recovery is a bit slower but I'm sure he'll get there in the end.
Good news for your OH to Vera with his recovery, be it slower than he may of hoped for, but he also will get there in the end to.
I thought the deer might of been Albino to Mel, hope you can get a photo, I've never seen a white one before. I liked your description of it looking like a Ghost. You're doing well with your tomatoes, I've started getting a few ripe ones now. At first they seem to be ripening to quickly and with not picking them they rotted on the plant, I now keep a closer eye on them and pick them when they're almost ripe, finishing them off on the kitchen window sill.
Yes, I'm keeping an eye on OH Frank and making sure he doesn't do to much to soon. He seems to be okay with cutting the lawns and takes his time, although yesterday I did have to stop him doing some of the weeding on the drive. At first he wouldn't stop so I stood on the weeds so he couldn't get to them, he then left those for me to do and took out the easier one's on the edge of the borders. I think he's just bored now as he's normally a very active man, I think he realises though that he still has to do light duties for the next month and he can see how worried I am when he tries to tackle jobs he shouldn't do. After all that's what I'm here for.
Before I forget POLDARK is back on next week for those interested. It's in the same time slot Gentleman Jack was on. I'm looking forward to it and already have it on my planner.

Morning Ann, Mel and all
Coolish and greyish here. One load of washing on the line, beds changed and sheets and pillowcases nearly finished in the washing machine and then it’s just a load of towels to do.
I had a nice afternoon yesterday and am glad I went as the hostess was pleased. Numbers were well down on our usual tally. The hostess picks the date and it is usually in August because our age group don’t normally go away in the school holidays. At the moment several of the group are on holiday before the schools break up. Anyway it was very pleasant. I stayed till 4.30 pm, though I phoned home at 2.30 to check on OH and he was fine.
Machine has just finished so it’s time to hang the sheets out. Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing
EDIT. Sorry Gill I wasn’t ignoring you. You posted while I was typing
