Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Nov 2010 09:42

Forgot to say I had'nt changed the central heating clock and thats the one I always look at as the leccy had been out yesterday with OH fiddling with one of his pc's. When I cooked dinner last night it was to early!!!!!!!!!!

Watched Downton last night and shall be sorry when it ends. They are good stories without any nasty swear words, thats why I like it. Wish they would do more stories and carry it on. It reminds me a bit of Upstairs Downstairs. Just simple stories of everyday life in a BIG house.

We watched Merlin with our dinner!! I like that too but wish they would'nt put in words that we use today. I am sure they would'nt have known some of them. I had missed it on Saturday so we watched it on the bt replay box. That is a god send to me as I watch all the things that are on while OH has other programs running at the times I want to see something else. Also there are no adverts when you watch on replay, just a cut out and then back again and you can pause it if you need the loo or if someone calls in.

Morning Mel
Well we woke up to quite thick fog,but it now seems to have cleared .Just cloudy now.
Did they say there was going to a following series for Downton Abbey? I hope so.It is about the only thing Chris watches on tv.
I have a few things to do out and about now so BBL

I just took a couple of photos from my bedroom window looking over several gardens.I will send you later.

I think I will try Stapl#s the printers, see if they have a machine that can reduce the pages. Or try to buy a sctoll and fill it in by hand. Need to learn Calligraphy to make a "proper job"!!! of it.

Thanks fot the photo's Jane/Fiona look great.

The sky has cleared, and looks like we might get a bit of sunshine

Have got a saucepan of vegatable peellings on the gas for the chickens, smells nice. Will mix with mash, and they can tuck into that.

Glad you all enjoyed Dowton. They say the "Little House" thats on tonight at 9pm. is supposed to be worth a look also. DIL has read the book and gave it the thumbs up.

I shall probably try that one Frank but again on Replay as OH is usually out here with me at that time and I don't think it is his kind of thing.

Very bright sunny day here and not too cold. Have you still got snow Shirl. I've been catching up on all the posts, didn't get on yesterday, labouring over son's house. I get all the sh**ty jobs, had me smashing up the toilet that he took out !!!!!

Have been busy this morning making a start on son's old room, thought I would just give it a coat of white paint on the walls for now, make it nice and bright and get all my art stuff up there. I'm only half way through.

Good job I didn't see your posts Saturday night when I was eating my salad, all those mouth watering meals you were having. I don't mind salad though and keeping on with my health/fitness routine I haven't had a 'proper' drink for more than a week. Like you said Frank, I don't miss it either although I do get tempted a little bit.

Have you googled for a print of your family tree. I think one company do one like a scroll. Don't know how much it is and would imagine it is quite hard to see it all in one go. Failing that you could do what Ann said she has done and get a roll of lining wallpaper.

I'm sure I could use some help with my Pollendines Mel, I'll get in the queue.

A Shivery Bite....What a great expression Shirl. When we used to swim in the sea in the evening, someone would get a little bonfire going and stick some baking potatoes in ready to warm us all up.It was scrumptious.

Mum used to call it a chittering bite Jane,
Hated swimming as a child still not keen on it unless it's somewhere abroad in our own villa pool, where I can go at my own speed and no one splashes, would allways be the one sitting on the side shivering when we went to the baths during school time , the teaches never had time for the slow learners.

Rain , Rain & more rain and it's getting dark and it's only 3.45 in the afternoon.
Had a lazy day to day , no ones phoned, no ones knocked at the door , so I am just plodding on with a few jobs and reading my book, daughter no 2 will be down shortly to use the broadband,
think I'll pop the kettle on could to with a hot drink.

OH Those green tights Mandy make Sofia's legs look even more bandy than normal, I've almost forgot what she looks like with tights on, daughter has Sofia dressed mostly in Jeans or jogging suits these days. and the nappy makes her look as if she got a bigger bottom than she really has, lol
I remember my two wore terry's nappies most the time, a few disposible ones if we were in the car.
Hopeing her mum will put a dress on her sometime over christmas, daughter says there's not much point dressing her up if she's not going anywhere special.
I loved putting my girls in dresses, at least no one misteaked them for boys, because Sofia still has short hair she often gets misteaken as a litle boy even when she's got her pink jacket on.

Maureen thanks for that will do it in a minute.

Have had a lazy day, reading my book and paper. Ros popped out this afternoon to get cards for up comming birthdays. She also came in with bags from Matal#n, haven't seen in those, straight into the bedroom !!!!

Glad you didn't have to do the Donkey Run today Mel. Do it as you need it, gives you a bit of a break

Lol Maureen.Love the pun on Sh***y jobs ,and the loo!!!

I have just given Chester 2 worm pills. They are massive.More like horse pills .I don't know that he has worms but he hasn't had any pills for a while, and with his funny btm at the moment I thought It won't do any harm.

Frank ,I have nothing tucked away in my wardrobes yet.I haven't done 1 bit of Xmas shopping .Not even cards ,and normally I would have written them by now.Don't go peeking now will you !!

Went shopping after all and got that out the way. All packed away now and I brought home a nice salad and half a cooked chicken, 2 pigs in a blanket and two stuffing balls wrapped in bacon. Should keep him in the other room quiet for a while. Oh and a pot of coleslaw. It's a greek salad with feta cheese and black olives.

On Wednesday,Chris and I are going to see Lionel Blue(Rabbi) at the Derngate Northampton. He often does thought for the day on Radio 4.He is funny and interesting and was the first Rabbi to 'come out'.He grew up in the East End.I am hoping it will be good evening. Then a couple of weeks later we will see 'Calender Girls'.I'm not sure who is in it.
It is ages since we went to the theatre.

I bought a BIG bottle of Harv*ys Bri**l Cream Sherry for Christmas. Mums favorite but I shall have to drink it all myself now................................

I know OH will help me with it perhaps. It was always a ritual for mum at Christmas and I did'nt think when I bought it.

Have found a Company that PRINT your family tree, it appears they are the only Company that do it, they can access your tree via Genes. and have been doing it for years. They show you the finished article before they print it. Not bad price either. upto 500 relatives £30.00 500 to 1500 £60.00.

Hope you enjoyed todays Jokes. My old junior school friend who lived a few house from me, keeps sending them. They go all over the world via other friends.

Jane

Jane Report 1 Nov 2010 18:04

I bet you will buy lots of things Mel without thinking, and then suddenly realise that Mums not there. As long as you and your OH enjoy it ,and you can raise your glass ! My parents always had that Sherry and then changed to Crofts.I like a glass of sherry ,but remember one year I had a bit too much before serving up Xmas Dinner and forgot to serve up the turkey lol.Everything else was on the plates ......just not the turkey.

Jane Report 1 Nov 2010 18:16
