Know the feeling on the specs front!!! I can't read anything without them! Tried to do credit card in Sainsburys the other day without them!! I had to get my glasses out of my bag, and, oh dear!! embarrassed or what!! people gave me sort of sad looks, like I used to years ago, now it's me getting them! oh well, could be worse!!!!

Niggly Nellie
I am having the same problems to , I am in and out of the bag , glasses on to see price tags, glasses off to make sure I don't trip over anything, my kids have threatened to buy me a chain to put round my kneck, but I will only lose that or put it somewhere and never find it again.

But I'm not sorry to disappoint, Piers. People have told you not all correspondence is on the thread.....did you not read that?

Do you not have any childhood memories to contribute.......if not, are you just hanging around until GR find out what you are doing?

May I suggest you get on with that 'life' you told us about. I shall not be responding to you anymore because your opinion is ill informed so there is no point.

Jane Report 23 Oct 2010 21:19

Goodness David ,you aren't still in those short trousers are you ??? lol

Liz I have found myself going out of the house with 2 pairs of glasses on the top of my head.I couldn't find the first pair (which were on my head) so got another pair.I need some new readers. My expensive prescription ones are too heavy and leave deep grooves either side of my nose which isn't a good look lol.I broke my favourite Red glasses a couple of weeks ago ,by snapping an arm off. They were so cheap ( about £11) but I had them for about 4 years.

David I remember mum talking about her older brothers sleeping top to tail in beds and she said gran heated bricks in the oven for hot water bottles and wrapped them in cloth to go in the bed. It sounds a real hardship nowadays to us to not to have running water. That must have made a lot of work for your mum. I know we didn't have any hot water in the mornings when I used to go to school, I had to boil the kettle to have warm water for a wash. It sounds like you had a good old M.O.T. at the doctors. How are your and Ellen's knees and is Ralph on the internet now?

I have worn specs all the time for a few years, even though my long sight is ok. I got fed up of doing all the things you are all saying about losing them! I remember being surprised that they magnified things when I first started wearing them. One thing I have learned the hard way is that they become 'invisible' on a floral patterned bed quilt or bedspread. lol

Hi I am home, Lots of tooing and throwing on the thread.

We had a good day in Runland. and stayed for an Indian. We had a great run home, hardly saw a car. and the sky is so bright, I bet there will be a frost tonight.

David, I sleept three in a bed, till my elder brother got married, then there were two. I finally had a room to myself aged 17. We also had no form of heating apart from the back boiler, which heated the water to the tank on the landing. It was one of those with massive bolts/rivits all round the outside. We use to put our "Sleeping suits" on it to warm through. The floor was covered in lino. The Sheets on thew bed were starched cotton. and you froze in the winter. The metal window frames would freeze up, and the glass would have thick ice on the inside. I remember pushing a barrow to the coal yard in 1947. to get whatever was available.

I must delve into my distant passed to bring back more "CHILDHOOD MEMORIES" perhaps we should start to involve our children. That might make some people Happy.

See you tomorrow.

Good Morning Mel and Friends

Firstly, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Mel. Our thoughts as a family have been with you at this time.

Catie has received a number of messages, but has been unable to reply to everyone as yet. I thought I would offer an explanation as to why, and at the same time thank everyone who has sent their kind wishes.

Catie is in the early stages of pregnancy and suffering from extreme nausea and sickness, which lasts most of the day. Accompanying this is extreme tiredness. Consequently, she has now been told to Rest. Fortunately, her parents have moved in to help. To be honest, it is chaos here, but Catie will respond as soon as she can.

Best Wishes,

Andrew
