Ann, poor OH must have been a bit scary for you both .

Maureen , sounds as if its all pay out for you ,and just before christmas too.
Hope little Alfie is still going on ok, good that the fits have eased up.

Frank , Turkey and Lemon Meringue Pie !!!!! Mince Pies and Sausage rolls ,has Christmas come early lol what time do you want us all round ?

Meant to say the other day when the little ones were here we had a baby Hedge Hog in the garden ,we had been to town and when we came home i opened the back gate and it went over the top of Hedgy , i nearly put my foot on him!! , he then curled up in to a ball, i had to scoop him up on a dustpan , and i put him on the front garden out of Toby's way .

Jane

Jane Report 22 Oct 2010 18:22

I never see any hedgehogs here although I'm sure there must be some around.
Mandy it sounds like your little one had a lucky escape from your foot !!!

This morning we had several police cars with sirens going tearing down the road.I have no idea what was going on.Maybe they were chasing after someone. It was quite exciting.

It sounds like a banquet at Franks doesn't it.My Mum used to make HUGE lemon meringue pies.I have never made one and haven't had one for donkeys years.

evening all
Hi Jill glad to see you back.

Jane ,Have pm you

Been another horrible wet and windy day here , We went shopping this morning in the new Sains**ry's , very nice. OH was complaining as I kept stopping and looking at all the new household items and baby stuff and clothes which look good, instead of getting on with the food shopping instead.

Glad you are getting your sleep Mel, enjoy your meals out I have had two good lunches out this week, .
OH back to work Monday. So I am glad I have done quite a bit of shopping this week, for christmas and for daughter no 1 birthday. which is in November.

Poor little Hedgy , i nearly flattened him with my size sevens !!! lol
I hope he found somewhere warm the night we had the frost .

I wonder what was going on then Jane with all the police cars ,chasing some rogue i bet .

I don't think anyone would go home hungry from Franks ,he always seems to put on a good spread for the family.

My mum was a good cook , boy could she make good pastry, some times my pastry is good another time you could use it as a door stop its so hard !!!

And Frank..i dont blame you for not remembering me..i have been rather erractic!
Maureen...i now have four grandchildren...lastest one eight weeks old now..little girl named Heidi. I remember having the book of Heidi and thinking what a lovely name it was. So now two boys and two girls....i ve told them all to stop!!!! I m running out of photo frames!!! They are such a joy,and feel very blessed to have them.

Ive been putting in last of pansies this afternoon..trying to shake of a stinking cold...yes, another one! Think hot curry on menu tonight!

Jane

Jane Report 22 Oct 2010 18:50

What a lovely name, Heidi.I bet there won't be too many girls with that name.I remember "Heidi" being on TV when I was young and really enjoying it.She lived with her Grandfather I think .Is that right?
I don't think I will be a Grandma for a long time.I may be GaGa by the time that happens lol

Jill

Jill Report 22 Oct 2010 18:59

Well rest assured Jane..it s sent me a bit Ga Ga during the last two and a half years! This is the only time theres been no pregnant women in family for ages....hope i ve not spoke to soon!!

Think Heidi had a friend called Clara...who she helped to learn to walk...remember her pushing her wheelchair over the hill....without her in i might add

Annx Report 22 Oct 2010 19:20

I remember having the book, Heidi when I was a little girl. I loved it so much I think I read it about 3 times. lol I always remember they ate a lot of bread with cheese. Black Beauty was my favourite though.......there were a few tears reading that.

Frank, you do rustle up some lovely meals. I love lemon meringue pie and I did make 1 or 2 in the Dark Ages. Homemade do taste better, but my pastry is like Mandy's.......unpredictable!

Jane

Jane Report 22 Oct 2010 19:50

I can just picture the Chalet up in the mountain .I think I will have to google the story now.Oh and Clara and the wheel chair is coming back in my mind. It's about time they put this back on TV.I do remember my daughter enjoying watching Heidi. That would have been way back in the 80's.
Black Beauty !!!I remember the music to the programme.
Also we have to remember Skippy ............and Clarence the cross eyed Lion lol

I thought this thread looked rather interesting and have read it from start to finish.Mel began by saying that it had been 'whooshed' a couple of times and I can see why.
It really isn't about 'memories' at all. Yes, there are a few thrown in here and there, but by and large it is just chit chat, with a rumpus thrown in for good measure. I've noticed that it is mainly the same people who are contributing and half the time when a post is made, it doesn't even receive a reply. Lots of people who have a lot to say. Very few people who are willing to listen.

Jane

Jane Report 22 Oct 2010 20:57

Hi Piers.
We have had a couple of brilliant years with the thread about Childhood memories. But there are only so many ,and I think we came to a bit of a standstill.Just over the last couple of months there been a lot of very sad things that have happened to some of the people here, and I think we have maybe had a bit of a glitch .I know that all posts are not replied to,but I think sometimes it is difficult to respond to each and every one even though we take on board what everyone has said.I do believe we all listen, but sometimes may not comment.

Piers

Piers Report 22 Oct 2010 21:32

Hello Jane,

Well the question really is 'why would anyone make a comment, if half the time no-one bothers to reply?' When a member has taken the time to add a message, surely it is only good manners to reply.
I feel the nature of the posts prevent people from wanting to add on two accounts. Firstly, they have very little to do with childhood memories. Secondly, many of the posts are just dismissed.

Jill Report 22 Oct 2010 21:36

This is a lovely thread...lets keep the memories going...Mel started it...so how about those things we did in autumn when kids.....conkers....i used to soak mine in vinegar, then bake them in oven, then they shattered!!! This is nt Piers Morgan is it?!!!

Hello Jill,

You are entitled to your opinion. However, I do not share your view. The fact that so few people contribute, may suggest that I do not walk alone.
