Jane

Jane Report 16 Aug 2010 21:22

LOL David ,all I know it was a screw top too.It does make me laugh when you are given this tiny pot to give a wee sample today. So easy for men ,but such a palaver for the ladies. We always get the difficult things lol
I think I am going to sign out now.So will see you all again tomorrow .I am going to try and spend a bit of time going through the 'Cole Family' ,and see if this person I have been in touch with can go back into the 1700's for me.

My OH always says "Why are you looking up dead people?" I like it and have got back to the 1500's with the Hannabuss family. What I am stuck on is my gt gt grandfather on my granfathers side. I can find all the Christenings of his siblings but I can't find his. BUM!!!!!!!!

Mum has just gone to bed and I am now going in the shower. With this new heron protector that OH bought it keeps coming on now and then and the shower pressure goes down and turns a bit hot sometimes so I have to get in and out quickly!!

I had many bikini's when young. Mum made me my first one when I was just a child it was green and white small gingham and had puffed pants and a big flat top. The next one was navy blue with a middle neck strap and bones in the sides of the bra piece. I thought I was the cats whiskers in this at the age of about 14. Used to run down the beach and dive into the water at St. Osyths where we had a caravan on the beach. I even tried on a new bikini when I was pregnant!! Yes from back view I looked just the same. I only had a little bump down low when I was full term. The man up the road where I bought my grosceries told me when You get near your time I wilkl bring them down to you . That was on the friday and I had him on the Monday following!! I was given the date of the 19th May and thats the day I had him.

Come on everyone...... Rise and Shine lol

Yesterday I popped into M & S and there was a little boy of about six having a tantrum. His mum was buying his new school uniform and he turned to his sister and said he just wanted to Tear All Those Posters About School Up lol
Goodness, that brought back memories. It always seemed to me that as soon as school was out for summer - those posters would be up advertising uniforms etc - and like that little boy, I hated it. Poor little soul - I felt really sorry for him.

Shirl.... I keep meaning to ask you .... What type of pet is OG .... He does seem a handful lol

Morning all,

Catie I did laugh at your post about Shirl's pet, OG. I see Jane put you right........................

Wet here this morning too and dull and ironing was on the agenda for me too Fiona. When the weather's nice I was like mad and just put it in the uti room. I have about four piles and can't seem to face it. When it gets to the time when I have no clean t shirts ironed I do some!!!!!! That day has arrived.

MORNING,

Ros has decided to wash all the outside plactic windows and drain pipes. I did all the windows last week and wiped over the sills, But they need doing She says. I said they will be as bad again next week. Can't stop looking for jobs to do.

We have a Oil terminal a couple of miles away, this morning their Helicopter came over to drop of the engineers for the check up. It was so low, I thought is was going to crash. Then I remembered who they were. SILLY OLD SOD. ar'nt I !!!!!

Had a drop of rain last night, quite cool and overcast this morning, more rain on the way, me thinks.

Catie, I laughed by cobs off this morning. about poor old Shirl and OG. You wasn't around when she used to call him everything. I think she loves him realy. as we all do with our OHs That reminds me hows he doing SHIRL ???

My mind is working overtime imagining all you young bits of SKIRT floating around on the beach as young teenagers. and not so young teenagers. Were they the towling type that took ages to dry. or the nylon ones that sometimes were transparent.!!!! My elder sister had one in white that did that at the local swimming pool. We soon got a towl round her. and got her out.!!!

Afternoon Frank

Oh!!!! Frank my white bikini never got wet, didn't fancy going in the pool on the ship, after christmas I was the only wife on board for 2 months and i used to bronzy(sunbathe) on the upper deck away from all those sailors eyes, )YES ladies the only woman among 30 men, sounds great all those men but it wasn't it was very lonely with having no other female company, I used to spend my time reading , doing Tapestry work and I was not allowed to mix or talk to the crew unless OH was there. I was allowed to talk to the officers though, OH was a Junior Engineer and spent most of the day down in the engineer room.

In fact some of the men were not happy to have a woman on board as they felt it was an intrusion on there life.
But I saw some great wildlife , sharks, dolphins, sea birds. and when we did stop in Port and OH was not working he would take me ashore to do shopping and the occasional night out.

Jane

Jane Report 17 Aug 2010 13:50

Fiona ,how come you were the only female on board?First thought is oh lucky girl ,but it really must have got you down a bit ,not having anyone to have a good old natter with 'girl talk'.
A bit of Skirt Frank lol.I haven't heard that for a long time !.I can think of other expressions too ,but too mucky to put up here .
I am looking after neighbours fish and veg while they are in Rome for a few days.As our beans and tomatoes are well behind theirs I can pick what I want, plus courgettes.

Mum had a white towelling bikini.I have photos of her wearing it down the beach. She always got a great tan too.

CatieI

CatieI Report 17 Aug 2010 13:50

Ooooops..... Sorry Shirl, for thinking OG was your Pet lol.

The only thing I'm going to say about bikinis girls is.... don't they cost a lot of money for what they are lol

Fiona, there is no way I would have wanted to be at sea for all that time. You must have yearned to have a good old chat with one of your girl friends lol

Jane , Catiel
When I Joined the ship at the end of November in Gothenburg Sweden. with OH there was 2 mates wifes on they had already been on for a few months and were due to leave the ship around the end of January. we had a great christmas and after they left I was on my own till about the end of March. as the men who took over from them were either not married or didn't bring their wives. I did miss their company very much as we would meet in each others cabins for coffee every morning to have a good natter or play music , or do jigsaws together. I did 2 trips with OH then we decided to start a family and I stayed at home and had daughter no 1 in 1980.

OH was in the merchant navy and I went to sea simply to be with him and I thought it would be a great chance to see a bit of the world before we started a family, OH would be home for 2 months at a time and 4 sometimes 6 months away at sea , I just couldn't resist a man in uniformLOL

Hi I thought today I would go to a open day at the town hall and there was these 4 men from Scotland lecturing on the Cambells and the Mc,Donald clan. Talking about the Somerleds The kings son was the fIrst Mc Donnell. He went on to say the Cambells wiped out the Mcdonalds much later on and added does anyone know what happened. Beryls hand went up and she said I know they made them into Beefbergers .I nearly died !!!
It went dead silent and everyone turned round and looked at us. The man giving the lecture said I do not get that what do you mean another man whispered something to him and he said oh yes McDonalds the food magnet
very funny. I said to Beryl why do you do these things .
We were surposed to see a film about Scottish clans and have some lunch but we were getting some evil looks so we came out .
