The story about the man I'm looking for is that he left England in the early 1920's, he apparently went to Canada, there were a few letters from him, but they dried up. Then there was no more contact. My Nan,( his sister) and his parents enlisted the help of the Salvation Army to help find him, but had no luck. I'm told he was a musician, played Violin, and taught music, I'm sure as a kid I was told he was a composer as well. It was always a mystery as to what happened to him. If this is him it would be amazing. Unfortunately Nan died about 1990, and Dad is the only one of the family left.

I'm sure he left England after 1920, as Dad has a faint recollection of him, (Dad born 1919) so, the family in 1920 census could indicate it's the wrong family! but the names a bit different isn't it? Suex

Having real trouble reading image but on 1920 he is a musician violin BINGO!!!!

Jim, That's why I found the DOB so exciting, I'll phone Dad tomorrow, ans see if he can lay his hands on the letters to confirm the dates, It could of course be that he can recall the memory implanted by his Mum, if you see what I mean, but on the other hand if he arrived in 1911, he would have been not much more than a child, well, he would have been 18, I suppose that's not too bad, but to have made his mark as a musician by that age is unlikely. He was from a relatively poor East london family, so have no idea how he managed to even get a violin! But given the circumstances, I can understand him needing to get away! I'll phone Dad! Sue I am only sorry i am not clued up enough to send images, maybe a member with more knowledge could help. I have his WW1 draft card on screen his signature signed on 5/2/1917( is that english 2/5/1917?) a self employed musician born in London single You will notice that accuracy on the records is not 100% but when all information is compared i feel we have him. NOW At least one daughter. Are there descendants?
