Hi Jane,

Can I ask for a lookup in the marriage index. Bit of a Strange one but can you please look for all Lily Smy's between 1922 and 1954. There shouldn't be that many hopefully as it wasn't a common surname. I can't seem to find her marriage to someone and was wondering if she was married before and had a different surname when she married the person I know about.

hope you can help wilferd allott b1888 married Beatrice b1895 could be Woodhead or Bamforth the wedding was in 1923 could have been in Huddersfield or Holmfirth she D20/11/1970 in Huddersfield but I have looked and can,t find any thing about her or her family hope to hear some good news thank you Regards Doreen

too big a task i'm afraid, the indexes are not searchable, so i would have to sit & trawl through 4 quarters for each year from 1922 - 1954.

thats 128 pages !!!!!

i have no objection to a couple of years either side,
i would need an area to work with too.............

i have looked at census too, but nothing jumping at me,
there are 2 Beatrice Woodheads, but both born in 1885, not 1895, 1 was born in Holmfirth the other in Huddersfield.

so with details from marriage certificate, might be able to pinpoint them better

I've been trying to find my nan with her family for a long time,can't find her on any census, should be on 1891 & 1901.
Rosina Eleanor Maud Smith born 8/3/1889,
reg.district= Saint Olave, Southwark,
sub distict=St.Olave, county of Surrey.
Birth cert. say's born at 12,Butlers place & informant her mother living at 41 Mellick's Place, Bermondsey.
Parent's David William Smith (a carman) &
Sophia Smith formally Hall.
Rosina married in 1909 & lived in Marylebone all her life but I know her mother's family all lived in Bermondsey as her neice's are still their & remember their nan Sophia living in Bermondsey but cannot find them.
Wittness's on Rosina's marrige cert. are D.W.Smith which must be her father & F.E.Hall whom I don't know.
Family have told me Rosina's g.dad was known as Dick, which could be the F.E.Hall wittness on her cert. but on her birth cert. it say's her dad is David William Smith. I am at a loss with this one, hope you can help. Jackie.

i have searched every different way i can think of,

i did find a birth of David William Smith in 1855 St Olave, i believe he is in a workhouse in 1891, with a William Smith, old enough to be his father
David was a labourer & William was a baker.
so if you do get the marriage certificate of David & Sophia, and this William is the father of David, let me know & i'll get the details again for you

Thank you so much. I heard there was another child/children but couldn't find them. However I didnt think there would be such a big gap between them.

Can I be cheeky and ask how far back you can look. As I have the names of Peter's parents

William Loftus Warwickshire abt 1810

and Ann Jones Mold Clwyn abt 1804 and I wondered if they had any other children. I understand if you can't look back and also if you have no time.
