Hi again Jane,
Could you please look up the following family in the 1851 1861 & 1871 census
Henry Still b 1814 East Malling, Kent Matilda Still b ? Betsey b 1841 East Malling, Kent
Matilda died in 1855, so possibly in the later census he has a different wife
Thank you Liz

Brenda,
now...... lol. where do i start, lol
i have searched more for you........
FreeBMD birth records are complete for 1879, 1882 & 1883, so Alice would have shown up on that.... i have searched Ancestrys BMD's but there are only 2 quarters in 1880 & 1881 each, and she's not there either....... not sure why i can't get the other 2 quarters of each year though.......
have searched census' again, and nothing similar in either surname........ so i think, for what its worth, lol, that we had the right girl before.......
don't worry too much about her age, dont forget that people were mainly illiterate(?) back then, so nobody knew how old they were or anything........ in 1901 census she was born 1881....
my theory is....... that she was illegitimate, which is why she had her fathers surname as a middle name, that was quite usual, and also why that on the census with John she was named as visitor not daughter, as she had a different surname......
but what happened to her mother, i don't know !!!!
i have tried looking for a John Balmer marrying a Clayson, but theres nothing in the whole country!
dont really know what else i can suggest...... waiting for 1911 isn't going to help, we cant find her birth.....
ooh just thought, lol are you local to Liverpool?
because the parish records might help, searching for a baptism, which names parents, and also you could try bastardly bonds....... abit like paying maintenace to illegitimate children.
worth a try??? if you're not local, try a Liverpool site, and some kind soul might look it up for you.....

Thank you very much for those. Now that looks interesting Can you tell me what Jane Feltham's marital status is please lol. Betsey didn't marry until 1866 I wonder where she could be. That was a good spot for Henry in the 1861 a popular mistranscription of the name

Hi Jane,
Any chance you could find out any information about my great grandmother Ellen Adams nee Reeves? She was born around 1889 and married Harry Adams born around 1889. They lived together in Bexhill, Hastings,East sussex. She may have been born there but i'm not sure. I am trying to trace her parents and any siblings she may have had. I'm also trying to find out where she was born and when she and Harry were married.
Any info much appreciated Regards Sharon

Hi Jane, I appreciate the help.I'm chasing rainbows probably with this George Scott. This is the story.I have an ancestor Thomas Little living in Pockheive,or Pocklieve) Eskdalemuir in 1830/ 31 .His wife died in '31 and he emigrated to Canada. His sister Henrietta Little married a William Scott in Ettrick,Selkirk in 1830.They too moved to the same township in Canada sometime in the 1830s.They had a daughter Elizabeth in Ettrick in 1830 and I have them having sons Matthew,William,Thomas in Canada but no reg.of a George.Back in Scotland another family of Littles (James Little )occupied Pocklieve in 1841.I haven't managed to fit them into my tree but it's a bit of a coincidence and I feel there must be a connection-maybe James was a cousin of my Thomas and Henrietta .In 1851 the younger members of the family are still in that house along with this George Scott.Another coincidence is that James was married to an Elizabeth Murray and the Thomas who emigrated went with a second wife,Janet Murray.I was hoping I'd find maybe a marriage for George that might give me parents' names.Very tortuous I'm afraid.Your list of George Scott births does not include Ettrick so I guess I'm barking up the wrong tree. Many thanks again, Joan
