As was asked before what led you back to your Thomas Todd being born 1844?

What documentary evidence do you have for that birth year?

do you have the marriage cert to Sarah E Payne and does that give his actual age?

We are only guessing, PP...................there is nothing so far to back-up the thought that this is the man being sought.

When Michael returns, we will have to hope that he provides something concrete on which to base searches...............

Seem odd that his son should be named Thomas (Hopkin) Todd if their is no connection to Thomas (Hopkin) Todd born (1855)

first born are often named after a parent

Sarah E Payne wa omly married to Thomas Todd for about 8 years then she married Charles H Hopkins 1886 and in the 1901 census it shows Thomas Hopkin Todd step son so im thinking that they put Hopkin as his middle name i might be wrong thanks regards confused Michael

There seems to be a transcription error on here and FMP. The transcription says Thomas Todd; but the original image says William Todd. So his name wasn't Thomas; it was William :-)

Michael the middle name is Hopkin without the s, I don't think the fact that Sarah then married Hopkins is relevant to that middle name at all

I have checked the actual image for the 1844 birth and it definitely says William,

Never accept a transcription as 100% accurate always checking the image.

1881 Sarah is Head....status certainly doesn't say married...but can't say for sure that she is a widow...

But can anyone find a death for Thomas (irrespective of his age)?
