Do we read anything into the statement that the will mentioned Mary Ross Jones?

I have been mulling that bit over..

Maybe she just took the name?

Ross Louise 43 Liskeard 5c 44

So this is the death of her mother. When does her father die?

Okay, I think we are getting nowhere fast. Mary/Laura Ross/Jones can't be found as a married lady.

The will which caused her to inherit should have the names of the solicitors on it. Perhaps contacting them would tell you where she was living at the time (or if she had died), and why she didn't actually inherit in the end.

You state "Mary Ross Jones, widow of Samuel Charles Jones, his sister"

How does that make sense?

His sister?

....can i also just add, your giving alot of weight to the widow thing...but wills are very much like death certs the info is only as good as the knowledge of the person writing it! It maybe that Mary Ross was living with Samuel when he died, and obviously being 'back in the day' when living in sin was unthought of the writer of the will naturally assumed she was married again? therefore making her his widow, and maybe why they call her Mary Ross Jones, knowing she was Mary Ross beforehand, they have merely 'given' her her husbands surname, but does seem they are a little unsure about it, leaving her previous married name in. Being aloing way from home and communication not as it is now, they may not have had chance to communicate the real cirsumstances?

Tracey, I imagine "Mary Ross Jones, widow of...., his sister" means she was the sister of the person making the will.

You might be right with your other comments.

Celia, are any of the other names on the declaration worthy of investigation?

Hi MM

Yes i did think that myself, doesn't harm to get some clarity!

Tracey, I think we often go round in circles. Getting clarity is one of the purposes of this website. Interpreting stuff, etc.

I think i'm in a perpetual circle with my own tree.... so it's nice witnessing everyone else going round in circles with someone elses!!
