Find Ancestors

After my mother had passed away, I found her marriage certificate, and the name Frank Probert as her father.
I had never heard of his name or ever seen it anywhere before. This was a complete shock.
To say my grandmother was secretive was an understatement !!
I think it is time I put this to rest, I will never find out .

Did you know your Grandmother?

Did they always stay round st clears way?
Was Rose brought up there?
Who brought her up?
Does she have a fathers name on her marrige certificate?and if so what was his occupation?

I am the Lampeter side of Carmarthen by the way so I do have a bit of knowledge on the area.,

Your 1911 household has the father and Samuel -- mine has the mother and Margaret??

Yes I knew my grandmother, she lived with my parents until she died age 95.
my mother lived in Laugharne until she was 16,
My grandmother brought her up..
Frank Probert on the marriage certificate, no occupation, as far as I can remeber.

Pendine is kind of on the border,next to Narberth,so you must have the correct family Janey.
Wish they had just left all the boundries alone over the years.

Wonder why they arent with William and that lot?

Oh no,I am going to HAVE to look at them,cant stop myself.

But the only Frank Probert I can find in 1911 to fit is in Llanelli/Llanelly born 1890 and married.

Its about 20 miles away?

And she is down as Grandaughter on the original which I have just looked at.
But she was born about the time of your mother Rose.

Look to Janeys post for her birth details.

I've been exploring possibilities ... that Margaret Pearce was married to a John so had to register her child as a John but the father was really a Probert ... etc etc -- to no avail so far!

Only one way to find out if Bridget is Rose

Send for the birth cert.
Her D.O.B and mothers name will tell all.

There is no marriage of a Bridget John anywhere, 1923-1943. There are marriages in 1978 (plain Bridget John) and 1964 and 1969 (with middle initials), is all.

As so far transcribed, there's no death of a Bridget John born c1907.


I'm thinking that Bridget John just completely reinvented herself.

Im with you there Janey.

She wouldnt be the first or the last,as we well know in this game of family history.

So we come down to this may well be Rose!
