Well, I went into town earlier with my daughter. Whilst we were sitting having a Prawn Cocktail Finger cob, past us stolls a group of 5 or six folks. One *lady* was aged approx 50 - 60 yrs old, extremely thin ( at which I asked my daughter - Am I as thin as that?) .. she was wearing a multi coloured bikini top and a VERY short mini skirt. There was more material on the Bikini top than she actually needed ... and she was - grossly thin. (This is were I don't give my daughters answer :-(( ..) I felt extremely embarrassed for her ...WHY ???? She was obviously *comfortable* going into a crowded shopping town dressed like that. I didn't have any objections to her dressing like that, but, because I am also very thin, I couldn't do it myself, and as I said, I really did *feel* for her. Had I seen her on the beach or in her own back garden, I wouldn't have noticed her .... and I do think there is definately a 'place' for people stripping off, but I don't object to it. Wouldn't do it myself though ...... I would make too many people feeel ill ... Elaine ;-) I will never see Chrissie in the same light again either !!! .and Chrissie, you do have a super body, you are very shapely and should flount what you have :-)) I would !!! (if I had your curvatious bod)

I am not too bothered about taking tops off to keep cool.........BUT there IS a place. and the place is NOT in an eaterie or shopping centre. Men should, when indoors wear something that has at least a short sleeve.................ugggh! Armpits............pits indeed on SOME people, just added this bit...........and young pregnant females with their bumps out for the world to see Bob

David I agree, men should be able to go topless if they want regardless of their age, after all have you seen some of the young girls, with their crop tops, hipster jeans, and a very large roll of white blubber, so if that is acceptable then an older man should be able to show his top half off. David Dont worry I think I have too much of a hangover to argue LOL but - I didnt say they couldnt wear speedos and have their belly hanging out did I? I just I dont think it looks nice and again that is my opinion, but at the pool and at the beach is the right place to go topless and if someone wants to then thats their right, but walking around topless or as someone has already said half undress (clothes that dont fit) then they would expect someone to look if they walked into a grocery store as it isnt the right place to do that. I have no probs with men in shorts and going topless in this weather. Can you imagine the reaction from women if we were told not to wear skirts or shorts because they weren't the right shape ? It's a big no from me to men being topless in restaurants and supermarkets though. However, if we ban men from going topless in shopping centres, then I think it only fair that women wear more than a bikini top.

Elaine - that is really interesting but I'm not sure what I think about it:)) There was certainly nothing unkind in what you were thinking - I suppose it's like seeing someone who is really bizarrely dressed but who doesn't seem to notice or care Maz n Linda - I HATE mohair pmsl lol Bob - but that's a personal thing isn't it? Thanks Bev & Gwen:) I'm suitably sympathetic now I've done laughing Glenys;)) Interesting that a lot of people think it's ok depending on where and when. I don't have a problem with anyone being in a supermarket topless personally - I'd much rather people undisciplined children and stupid people who dawdle in the middles of aisles were banned cos I think the time and place for them is not when I'm trying to get round:)

David See we do agree on some things - like the people in the supermarket who walk in the middle!! And those with naughty kids who always seem to wait for you to walk in then follow.. Debs x

Colin Report 29 Jul 2006 17:11

Not everyone looks good topless but then some people just don't look good dressed...........but I think that people should do as they feel as long as it does not offend.............but not claims that it offends on religious grounds

Unknown Report 29 Jul 2006 17:11

lol Debs - I actually think no-one should be allowed in a supermarket except me when I'm going! pmsl Maz Linda, I have to say Chrissie is lovely and not very much like Mrs Bucket lol (although I seem to remember her hair was immaculate;))
