Just found this thread. David did you see documentry last night on BBC3 where a photographer was in New York, America ? He was asking girls/women if they would take off their tops and walk across/along the roads,to see what reaction there would be. Quite a few did and got lots of stares. He was making a point that in New York it wasn't illegal to do so,) but, in fact some people did complain to the police dept. The interesting thing was that the female cops were telling the photographer that he was in the wrong (even though they couldn't 'touch him' )lol) However the male cops just commented with ' oh she looks alright'!! Interesting prog. because a good few of the females were not the least bit bothered that they were Big girls! Have gone topless myself ( in my younger days) but wouldn't in supermarkets........especially around the exotic fruit dept.!! Mau xx |

David, I am sure that supermarkets and possibly malls too try to air-con their premises not only for their own staff but the comfort of the shoppers - topless should not be necessary. |

That's a very fair point about staff in supermarkets,Joe, and something I hadn't thought of. Hi Helen:) I ought to admit that I don't go into supermarkets topless myself but mostly because with all the air conditioning, they are too flipping cool :))) |

David......how could you swear in front of your Mum no matter what the provocation. lol Sorry sweetie but must disagree here. Don't mind nudity at all but not when I'm shopping thanks. Think men should have to wear tops in shops but anywhere else it is up to them. Not comfortable with my body so certainly wouldn't inflict it on anyone else. Like Maz thrown all my mohair jumpers away. Chrissie Smiff... what a dark horse you turned out to be lol. Jean x. |

Hi David I don't think that going topless is a problem of shape and size, pale or bronzed. I do however object to people being topless around fresh food and restaurants and so on. However clean you are on a day to day basis this weather results in everyone being less than nice to be near at some time or other. A cotton shirt or tee-shirt at least absorbs some of that problem and avoids shoving it in other peeps' faces or up their noses:) I have no problem with anyone being topless out and about - that's up to the individual. Sadly for me, I was brought up in just the kind of environment you are objecting to and am very self-conscious about bodies, mine or anyone else's. Hey ho. Incidentally, I hardly ever wear anything on my feet at home and in the garden. When I was younger I did the same when out and about. However, having picked up a rather nasty skin complaint as a result in my early twenties, I don't do it now, not ever again, not no how lol. Cooling wishes to you all and apologies if I've repeated anyone else's comments - got sidetracked mid-message:) Helen |

I think that men walking around a shopping centre, or even in town, should be properly dressed and not flaunting their bodies no matter whether it is good or bad. People who have to work in the shops are probably compelled to look 'decent' and I think that those they serve should comply. I cannot think of anything worse than having to sit on a train, underground, bus etc., next to one a guy who is topless - regardless of the temperature. As has been said, there is a time and place and I have given some of the places at any time. On the other hand many people (male and female) go to the beaches in Spain etc., for summer holidays where they can go topless on beaches if they wish and nobody stops and stares or makes comparisons, do they ? If they can do it on foreign beaches or the few nudist beaches that we have in this country why can't they do it on any beach, park etc., where the idea is to relax. I don't think that anybody thinks of topless guys and gals on beaches as being a 'turn on' - so whether you a super-model or not do what YOU want to do BUT not in areas where you could be embarrasing those who are unable to join in by virtue of their jobs. Also, we all know that on occasion you look better dressed than undressed - and that does not consider your sexuality. |

Not everyone looks good topless but then some people just don't look good dressed...........but I think that people should do as they feel as long as it does not offend.............but not claims that it offends on religious grounds |
