We often used to get imprints of birds on our old patio windows - it seemed that the large expanse of glass was reflecting the feeders that were hung nearby, and the poor birds thought it was more food. We did find that one or two small birds did die, but the large ones like the wood pigeons would bounce, after scaring us with the noise it made!
Now that we've got French windows instead, it rarely seems to happen, maybe 'cos there's less expanse of glass. :-)

I often find a dusty imprint of a bird on my kitchen or dining room windows since we have had double glazing and have no nets on those windows.

One clearly showed the head body and outspread wings.

It never used to happen before, but like Liz, I have never found an injured bird.

I wonder why they do that?

Yesterday a pigeon who has been eating too much of the bird seed that the tits drop from the feeder flew into the kitchen window, gave me such a fright, there was a loud thump and I went out expecting to see it laying on the ground. Poor thing sat in the honeysuckle underneath looking a bit dazed, he had a ring on his leg so presumably a racing pigeon. A few minutes rest and off he flew. For some reason the birds often fly into that window or the patio doors, silly things. Never found a dead one yet tho, so they must bounce.

If you use kitchen rolls, you can cut them in half and use them as well.

Joy......we had a pigeon wedged in the bird table once, the starling were going mad trying to peck him away poor thing :-(

We managed to prise him out eventually.........poor pidge! :-)

i used the old beef dripping from the chip pan
and the left over breakfast cereal and seeds

the birds love it and costs me nothing

mind the butler made some soup and
you could stand a spoon up in it
i put it out for the foxes and the wood pidgeons ate it
they where so fat they couldnt fly for hours
it was so funny to see :-D :-D

I made some this afternoon Shelley.................plus some from a recipe on the link from Mr Magoo.

They are in the fridge all ready to go out Friday morning when my husband can keep watch on them as he is starting work later than me.
