Martyn, hope they get you on the operating list quickly. That is one of the worst pains that you are experiencing.

Let's hope the weather stays fine as it's a bit of a journey for you too, as well as the hanging about. Make sure you take something to eat and drink, even if you can't eat till after the scan, as the cafe isn't cheap.

Hope things move quickly for you so you can get this op or whatever over and done with and feel more comfortable

Where is that supposed to happen Sue? I usually have to go to the West Norwich hospital for that check up which is a bit of a way off from the N and N.

Hope you can get things sorted out easily

i have to go to (no funny comment's) sain****y/s car park in yarmouth, my appointmet is at 10.40 so that should give me time to get to the n& n for 1pm,
i phoned the hospital this morning and they said i could have them both on the same day,so i want to get it out of the way and concentrate on the kidney problem's.

I know they used mobile screening vans to do this at many places, it's a good idea and if the traffic and weather are ok you should be fine to get to the N and N in two hours.

Good luck, as you say better to get the apptmt out of the way and concentrate on the kidney problems. Treat yourself to something nice afterwards, you will have had a busy stressful day but don't forget to take a snack and drink with you.

i have my appointment to go back and see the consultant, 6th feb,
i now know i have a large staghorn stone inside my kidney,
when i see him next week i will be told what surgery i will need,i am hoping i still have function of the kidney, that way they will only have the stone to sort out,but these stone's can damage the kidney beyond repair,

AnninGlos Report 29 Jan 2012 17:11

Fingers crossed for you Sue that your kidney isn't damaged but you can function perfectly well with one kidney so don't be too worried.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 30 Jan 2012 04:36

You don't do things by halves, do you Sue?

Apparently a staghorn stone is one that is shaped like the kidney so would be hard to pass, unless it was zapped into little pieces but not sure those kind can be zapped, will have to read up on it.

Let us know how you get on

well i saw the consultant today,i have got to have kidney out, they will do it by keyhole surgery but if there is any problem's they will have to open me up, i have been put on the urgent list so i am not sure how long i will have to wait .
they said i do not have any function in the kidney and if they only remove the stone i have a 95% chance of it growing again,i have full function in the other kidney with no sign of any stone's.

Hope the op goes well and happens very soon, so you can have it over and done with Sue, better out than in if the kidney is useless to you. A neighbour of mine lost a kidney soon after her daughter was born in 1948 and managed well with only one for the rest of her life, she was in her 80s when she died and not from anything related to her kidneys, bless her.
