LOL Maureen.I would go straight through the Patio windows.
Hannah has just done a `memory test on me.She has got to do it with all her patients next week.I did very well,(but then I don't have a brain injury). She has to do it on one patient who is Russian and speaks no English so has to have an interpreter .She says that one will be a nightmare !!!
I don't know where Ann is.

Jane Report 23 Jul 2010 19:23

I don't think I have got quite to that stage yet Mandy lol.But you never know.
Not chilly here.We have beautiful blue sky for the first time today.
I don't know if I said before (sorry if I am repeating myself). But when I was young and lived in Wembury Dad belonged to the sailing club. There was a small boat park at the top of the beach where the locals kept their sailing boats.Once a year we would all get together with picnics and sail out to the Mew Stone which is a tiny island about a mile off the beach. It was like going to The Island of Adventure(like the Secret 7).The island is quite steep and at the top is a seat carved out of the rock, and half way up is a stone hut thing where a shepherd lived when sheep were there. We used to swim off the rocks in what we called the lagoon. The water was so clear, and so deep. They were wonderful times .The island is now a bird sanctuary so no-one is allowed to land there anymore.

Hello Mandy how are you thank you for all your kind messages. I am very tired my operation should have been at 9.30 had it at 3 in the afternoon some guy having a emergency op because I took the metaformin for the diabetic problem not eating until later lowered my blood pressure and I had what is called a hypo attack and went giddy my hands were trembling and I felt like I was drunk for a while out of my head. Terrible experience. luckily a nurse looked at my notes and realised what was happening and alerted the doctor who gave me some lemonade to get the level back to normal.

My operation went fine I was very drowsy and still am a bit
and have a pounding headache. My arm is sore but nothing to worry about. I was very lonely have shared the
ward with a muslim lady who had a birka across her face
and was shrouded in black and was behind a screen I never saw her only when in the corridor on arrival.

It was very hot at night and did not sleep due to this
ladies heavy snoring .I read my Phillida Law book Notes to my Mother in Law it is really funny about the funny things
her mum in law did. Phillida is a actress and writer and her daughter is Emma Thompson the actress I would have gone mad if I had not got that book. I think those days
and nights seem to go on forever. My friend Beryl came and made some remarks about a mans urine bottle left
in the ward said to the nurse how about a beer to put in this who had no sense of humour. Beryl and I did a years traiining to be nurses in Folkestone we did not make it past the first year so we went stuffing teddy bears at Chad Valley .We got great money and could work over time which I needed because my dad had died and mum had
not a lot of money at first. So Beryl and I were used to the
routine of hospitals and she was reminding me of our days
training, cleaning the utensils sterilising things and injecting oranges and of course turning corners really neatly when making beds. I was glad she came even though she wore a hat that she had knitted in bright colours far too big for her. loads of make up heels so high
it was a wonder she did not break her leg and so much
blusher on she looked like aunt sally out of worzsell gummidge.I heard this voice outside in the corrider where is Sheila Where is Sheila where are you hiding my friend
you lot.But was so glad she came. I came home and Beryl ran me up to the charity shop and a skirt I had removed to wash because I had soaked it in coffee and borrowed
some old trousers was in the window for sale for 3 pound
Sophia the polish lady thought it a good bargain. I was not amused I said you would sell your mother Sophia and she said Oh yes me sell my mother big trouble . Well I see the
little donkey was saved by the Sun .

I was a Nurse Sheila and remember injecting oranges lol.It wasn't quite the same when I had to inject my first patient .He was very patient with me lol.I had to inject his bottom and he was so thin .I thought I hit the bone!!!!
I love the sound of Beryl ,she sounds like a friend of mine when I was training lol.I was always in trouble when I was doing my training!!!!!.I say no more.

Wow, just one Beryl is worth a dozen friends, she sounds great fun.

My dad was diabetic so I know what you're talking about, going hypo. That's more scary for the person with you, especially if they don't know what to do.

It's not even dark yet but I'm going to have an early night, read my book for a bit and hopefully get some sleep then I can get up early (early is 8.00am)
tomorrow.

So I will say night night all, and be back on Wednesday/Thursday.

Oooh just one more thing, don't throw your cards away, you never know they maybe worth some money in a hundred years or so ......LOLOLOL

David

David Report 23 Jul 2010 21:18

A month or two back I'd to attend the docs to give bloods, 3 tubes. The nurse couldn't get into a vein in my right arm despite repeated attempts. So she tried the other arm and it spurted. Why was that?

Jane

Jane Report 23 Jul 2010 21:32

Maureen ,I still have your Xmas card on my window sill lol.It has gone a bit curly but I still keep it there.
David ,it was just a healthy vein.I doubt it was an artery. When I give blood ,and then have a plaster stuck on ,I have been known to suddenly spurt.

Sheila ,Beryl sounds just like my friend Lynda when we were training.Lynda was a big busty ,blousy girl, who drank like a fish ,was 'common as muck 'but had a heart of gold.I often wonder what she is doing now.(I'm not suggesting Beryl was common lol).she just sounds a scream.

Sheila Report 23 Jul 2010 23:55

David that was a lot of blood were you ill. it is annoying when sometimes they cannot find a vein I have had that and my arm went into a bruise and it was sore for days. I reckon you have some good veins in that arm
David.

Morning and it's dry again here in deepest Devon but some grey clouds in the sky.

Was busy yesterday helping OH and getting the caravan cleaned out. OH had tools all over the place in there and I have'nt been up there for ages to clean as been doing othe rthings. OH's youngest sister is coming down next weekend with her hubby and 18 year old daughter. Yesterday I cleaned all the kitchen area and put all his tools back under the seat, cleaned the cooker and thats as far as I got as he wanted help lining the two tanks he has put in at the end of the pond. It's getting there.

Chicks enjoyed their time out in the garden yesterday and all went back in their ark at night. It's so nice to see them scratching around the orchard.

Jane Report 24 Jul 2010 10:03

Morning everyone.
Mel did you ever find the shrew in your kitchen?Good little chicks ,all going to bed when they were told.
On the news the other day there was an item on geese that were needing homes.I think there were about 1,500 that had come to the end of there working life. There were thousands of others too.At night when they need to go in to the shed the owner would shout or whistle or something and they would all troop in lol

Well it is a lovely day so far and really very warm.I am by the fan now cooling off after the walk.Poor Chris is working again. He should be off ,but someone is off sick and others on holiday.

I wonder if Maureen is on her way to Dorset.I bet the traffic is busy today.
I need to go to Tes**.I expect it will be heaving, with people buying BBQ stuff.

Morning one and all,
Nice fresh morning here, I will be out in the front garden soon, clearing more of the grass, from the bird feeders, that dropped all over the place. Then I will get the last bag of potato's out. We had some very small ones last night. they were handsome. Have a nice piece of cold pork loin, to cut up for lunchtime sandwhich. over from last nights dinner.

When do you think the pond will be finished MEL, not long now, no doubt. Your OH will need a rest after all this.

Lewis, is coming later today, he's gone to work with his dad. He rang last night, "Dad needs me to help him," so will be up later. Harvey rang later to say, Lewis wanted to play with the children where he is working this morning, plus they have a large heated swimming pool. LITTLE BUGGE#
