Frank Report 14 Jul 2010 11:34

Morning to all my "FRIENDS"

Much fresher day here, no more rain, but feeling damp in the air.

Bought Ros a "EXTERMINATOR" it's like a tennis rachet with batteries. When you pust the button on the side, it activates the net with a charge, So when you swat a fly/bluebottle it goes pop, and it's dead, on the racket. It has a warning on it "do not touch the net while pushing the button" I thought I must try that, and what a shock I got !!!!
won't learn will I.!!!!

Bruise is out this morning, and feeling more comforable. thanks for asking.

Where my Mum lived as a young woman, Rathbone Street, East London. there was a blood stain on the beedroom floor. Her brother would go, walkabout every year on the same day, during the night. And the bloodstain would go a dark Red.and felt damp. Ghosts or what.!!!! My eldest brother, JIM had a birthmark in the shape of a strawberry, which would show up more prominent, in the strawberry season. My twin sister and I both had birthmarks on the same leg, hers was smaller than mine. but in the same place. !!!!

That new EDF energy advert, reminds me of myself as a young lad, scratching around in the bombed out houses, with your trousers round your knees, and the Fareisle jumper "NOBBY" off the end of of the bread, covered in dpipping, with salt and pepper. Wish you could still get the dripping off the joint, not enough fat on the joint, and much smaller than the "H" bone of beef, mum use to get.

Frank did it feel like the shock when you touch an electric fence? We used to dare eachother to do that when electric fence first appeared.Gave the finger a real jolt lol

Morning All,

Been and had my eyes tested.......more glasses....more expense!! I like the ones I have......can't understand why you have to be without them for several days for new lenses though.

Frank, I have one of those yellow racketsand they are good, but not easy to get the fly when it stays close to the window........trust you to try it out!!! I bet you had to touch the hot cooker when your mum told you not to as well. lol

I had birthmarks on the inside of my elbow and near my armpit. I had 2 years hospital treatment on them and would scream at the sight of a white coat as a toddler. Mum was made to have counselling at the hospital before they would treat them as it would be traumatic. I never knew this till I was in my forties but it explained why I would go in a cold sweat and feel real dread when visiting hospitals even as a visitor. Once I knew the reason why I had felt like this I was ok the next time I went in one. Funny isn't it. I wish I'd known years before.

Shirl, I loved your piccies.........the lake looks nice and is HUGE isn't it. I rather fancied some of the rocks for my garden. lol You look nice and cool!! lol

Afternoon everyone ,
Pork in the oven ,i like to cook it nice and slow ,veg all done and now i can have five minutes to myself and a coffee before they all descend .

Had to take sister to the doctors this morning she has pulled a muscle in her back ,she was only moving the chairs outside and felt a twinge.

Frank i saw those fly swat racket things in the pound shop ,are they any good for wasps ? we seem to have had a lot just lately.
Only you would put your fingers on it to try it out !!!! did it make your hair stand on end LOL

Shirl, i never got the email either yesterday.

Muggy old day ,bit of sun ,bit of cloud ,but got my washing all dry,we were suppose to have heavy rain !!

Mel, the pond must be looking good now ,any more pictures ??

Maureen

Maureen Report 14 Jul 2010 15:50

All we've had so far is a bit of drizzle over the last few days, could do with a good old downpour and then get back to that lovely hot weather.

Mel, you'll have to watch out for those herons now you're filling the pond with fish. One used to come early in the morning for his breakfast when I had a pond. Took me ages before I realised why the fish food wasn't being eaten. There were no fish left in there !!!!

Isn't that weird about the clock stopping and Frank's blood, well, not his personal blood. A friend of mine's mum died years ago and she gave me her mirror, a caserole dish and some other things. The mirror fell off the wall and smashed, the caserole dish exploded in the oven, she obviously didn't want me to have them !!!!!

Shirl I have a few e.mails from you, I'm going to look at now.

Hi All
Been to visit dad this afternoon, Was only there for 1/2 hour as he fell asleep in the chair , hard work trying to keep the conversation going as his thoughts are all muddled now and he can't think what to say, chatted about the weather and then wanted to put his coat on and come home with me. I had to tell a few white lies (going to hairdresses when not really)to get him to stay with the other residents who were watching the TV.
It's much easier when there's more than one person visiting.

Thanks ann for photo of your new friend certainly looks very happy where he is.

If anyone has sent me any emails this afternoon I can't say thanks yet as I can't get Entourage.

Frank Report 14 Jul 2010 17:27

Hi all,
Been to Davertry to drop of my son's birthday present for next Monday, wheather I hear from him is another thing, but at least I've done my bit.

We came back through to Northampton on the back roads, and did it rain, wipers had a job keeping up with it. Got caught out in a car park, and got wet.

Mandy, The one I got, was I think, top of the range and cost about £11.00 including P & p. I know you can get them a lot cheaper, but don't know what they are like. You only get ehat you pay for !!!!

My son has a fairly large pond, and had visits from the Heron. I have been lucky, my pond is under the cherry tree, and the pond is surrounded by large pot plants, and the surround is stone chippings. which I don't think they like. I have seen them perched on the local roofs though, I expect they are sussing out the area.!!!!

Shirl, I haven't looked at my Emails today yet, but will look when I have posted.

After heavy rain ,we now have some blue sky.The plants have all perked up now.
James has just had his dinner.Gammon, covered in hot spices, and my Jamaican rice.He said it was very tasty.SUCCESS!!!.Just off to polish my good cooks badge lol

Frank as you say you have done your bit.You are a good man.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Jul 2010 17:43

Been ironing all afternoon and fed up with it now and there's not that much more to do. I am not doing it though.

Frank I had one of those tennis racket fly things and hit it against the wall by mistake and it broke off at the handle and dos'nt work now, so don't whatever you do hit it against anything!!!! Mine was £14.50!!

OH has been doing the eletrics today and told me to stay off pooter. Thats why I did the ironing as he was turning the leccy on and off.

OH is going to put a wire round the pond with a small eletric fencing unit we have to keep the herons away. We have no shallow spot for them to stand in either. Phesant has been drinking out the pond though!! I saw him and OH was not amused as it left a calling card on the decking round the pond.

Jane

Jane Report 14 Jul 2010 17:56

I reckon you will get piles of calling cards Mel lol. What a pity you have lost one of the Koi.It must have been sick.

When I was a boy I recall a cinema just a few hundred yards down from Gibson Street Wash House. It was called the Ricturedrome. It was nick named The Lop.Years on it became a carpet warehouse.

When I was a boy I had a spell in St Jude's choir. I'd heard they paid a small fee each month and went on a coach trip in the summer. That church still stands but now is The First Church of Jesus Christ and is frequented by the Chinese

Jane

Jane Report 14 Jul 2010 18:38

I was in the choir too David. We got paid 2/6 for singing at a wedding and I think something for going to choir practice the day before a wedding. The vicar used to get really mad if we didn't turn up to the practice.Miss Drake used to give us a dig in the back if we messed around.Oh she had bony fingers lol

Shirl, I have passed your photos on!

I was shocked tonight to see that an old work colleague had died age 65. I lost touch with her in the late 90s when we ended up in different offices and departments. She had even gone to the same grammar school, but we did not know each other then only by name. How sad......makes you realise how old you are getting. Funny how you always picture people as you last saw them. She always wore her hair in one of those immaculate french pleats with hairpins to hold it in place.
