Hallo everyone
May I join in sometimes please? Reading through some of the posts recently I’ve thought what a nice thread it is, just chatting with friends.

Gill, I know everyone has been telling you the same but please get your tooth sorted. You don’t want to end up at A&E as an emergency. I had bad experiences with dentists when I was 6 and again when I was 12 and was terrified for years and years but things really are different now. Find a dentist, tell him or her how frightened you are and you will find they are very understanding and kind. Get your husband or a good friend to take you and stay with you.

Is Sandra still enjoying watching the birds?

I am so sorry that some of you have lost contact with your children. I can’t imagine how that must feel. Like Gwyn I am blessed with my son, daughter and grandchildren. Son lives in Yorkshire so we don’t see him much but he rings every couple of weeks and chats for an hour or so. Daughter is about a 45 minute drive away and leads a very busy life so we tend to text each other. Sometimes we text to make an appointment to talk on the phone which makes my friends laugh.

As this is my first post on here I had better not ramble on too long or you will be thinking what a daft old bat I am. :-D

Evening All,

Had a busy couple of days, but how busy you have been posting in the meantime!

Gill, you MUST see a dentist and soon and as Gwyn says, the doctor will only tell you to see a dentist if you see him! I don't want to scare you, but someone I worked with years ago neglected toothache and the infection under his tooth ate away along his jaw and he not only lost several teeth, he had to be careful not to knock his jawbone after as the infection had eaten into it and weakened it. A course of antibiotics may be all that's needed, but it won't be if you keep leaving it. I was so sorry to hear what happened with Michelle and her partner and the text you got. It must have been very upsetting and I bet Sandra had been so pleased to see her as well. I think you are wise not to mention anything to Sandra, there's no point upsetting her with things she just won't understand.

I had another load of trouble trying to get a blood glucose test done at the doctor's again this year! This is the 4th year I have had all this fuss!! I explained it all again to the receptionist when I booked the appointment, but I got a phone call the night before asking who had said I need one, the nurse wasn't happy and why did I need one if I wasn't diabetic. I think my answer to that one was to hopefully stop me becoming one!! They even said I would have to see a doctor before they could do it. I explained it all again, that the doctor at the Diabetes Research Centre said I should have an annual one etc etc, that my levels are a bit high, that the doctor at the surgery had put a note on my last test results to say I should continue with annual checks........had they not seen the note? More hanging on the phone for ages and eventually they found it.....no apology of course!! When I went for the blood test this morning I asked the nurse how could we prevent this annual fiasco as it was getting stressful now. She started making some excuse about there not being a note on the main page (is that the only one they look at?) and that I should speak to the IT man to get a flag put on the main page! (not my job really as a patient.......she should raise problems herself). I've decided to write to the Practice Manager instead as I think they should be made aware of things like this.

I also had to submit an objection to that warehouse planning application nearby as it was the last day today. Also to ring about the email problems with adverts constantly trying to load and the system grinding to a halt! Mine is fixed now and OH will get his done tomorrow. :-)

I filled up with fuel yesterday and the other side of the pumps in a car were 3 asian children, 2 boys, one in the front with the window down and one in the back and their little sister was also in the back. Their mother was paying and also buying things in the shop. I'd just got back in my car when all hell broke loose between the boys and they started nastily trying to knock 7 bells out of each other in the car and were knocking into the little girl. I was really close to their car so gave a loud blast on the horn and glared at them. Well that gave them such a shock they both jumped back into their seats and looked really sheepish as they realised all the other people filling up were now watching them as well! I risked it as I know from working with many asians that they expect good standards of behaviour from their children. If I had done it to white boys I would have probably got the 'f' word and fingers put up and they wouldn't have stopped.

That's good your son got the job Mandy! :-) Is he not doing building work anymore, or still keeping his hand in as well as this job. It will be much nicer inside in the winter than climbing on rooftops. OH gets given those tiny chairs to sit on at some of his meetings! I remember being nervous when I had my Civil Service interview, I was asked when I intended to start a family? They wouldn't be allowed to ask that now, but it would take 3 years to sufficiently train an officer before they were considered to be of use and it cost a lot, so they didn't want people leaving after a year or two.

I see the henhouse is moving in place for the girls Mel. Do you give your hen house a name at all? Ha ha......'Cluck Villa' or 'Eggs'r'Us'. :-D

Lol Annx trying to remember my EO interview, can’t remember what the question was but I remember telling the interviewer that he was putting words in my mouth. In a local government interview a councillor asked me who would look after my children if they were sick. I pointed out he wa not allowed to ask that question but as he had, my husband would tske time off to look after them

Welcome Vera and join in any time you wish we all like to hear whats going on in different parts of the country. We are all good friends on here. Are you in Suffolk? if so what part? I used to live in Alphamstone on the Essex Suffolk border address was Suffolk though. Not far from Sudbury.

There is still some bits to do with the hen house. Oh has to make the pop hole safe along the sides where the house is next to the fence there's a gap which they may try to get through.

We wheeled the house around the back on a make shift axel of the weight lifing bar and two spare trailer wheels. When we got it to the block base oh then pushed it on gently with the digger but it caught on one of the blocks which push the fencing in so he had to lever the house up with a crowbar and I held it while he bashed the blocks back. Then I held the house on the crowbar till it was over the last two blocks and then it was ok. The doors were out of line though so he held the house up at the nest box end and I slipped a sliver of wood under and it lined the doors up a treat. One of the hinges on the door that opens against the fence has not been made right and it has a lovely creak which nothing seems to stop.

Morning all

Woke up in pain again so OH is going to get the emergency dentist number, I can't carry on like this. I'm shaking just at the thought but with all your kindness I'm going to trust a dentist and hope it's not as bad as I'm thinking it will be. Thank you for your support and sorry it's taken me so long to pluck up the courage, I just hope I can see someone today or I might chicken out again.

Nice to see you are here Vera, yes Sandra is still watching all the birds and looks in her book to identify them, she noticed a hawk in her book and remembered one attacking a pigeon in our back garden and all the pigeon feathers all over the grass. Thankfully that hasn't happen again and now she enjoys watching all the smaller birds on our feeder. The workmen aren't here as much now and the birds have come back so there's plenty to see.

OH and I decided to tell Sandra about the text off Michelle Ann just in case she heard it from someone else, like my mum or sister as she would of been more upset at us keeping it from her. She wasn't very happy at first but then got annoyed with Michelle, saying " She want to visit, then she doesn't, I wish she'd make her mind up". To be honest OH and I think the same way to. I even thought today that maybe she doesn't want us at the wedding so that's why she's trying to cause trouble again, I wouldn't mind but she knew almost three years ago that her boyfriend wasn't welcome here again, so I don't know why she was so shocked by it. Anyway I haven't risen to it by replying to her text as I think OH is right and it would probably make matters worse.

We are seriously thinking of moving again, so when next door is finished we may start looking into other areas to live. If we do move away we don't want any of the family to know our new address or even the area we are in so I'll PM you the address and not put it on here incase any of the family are reading this thread. I wouldn't put it past them, just so they know what's going on in our lives.

I think I'm having a really bad week this week and to top it all off the skip wasn't emptied yesterday so that's had more rubbish added to it, I'm sure it's going to fall off over our car at some point. I ended up in tears this morning with all the upset and pain I've been through this week.

I've just run a bath so I'd better go and get in it. I'll catch up with the rest of the posts properly later. Thanks again everyone for your support.

Good morning Gill, and All,

WELCOME ,VERA, You will find that all of us on here are friendly, and offer support/advice, without imposing on anyones privacy.

I am Frank, I am the only regular male poster, aged 80 and possible the oldest one in the group. I had a Stroke 15 years ago which affected my TEMPER and my right side. I have been married to Ros my wife for FOURTY YEARS, having been previously married for 17 years, with Two children from that marriage, I adopted Ros's two boys Harvey and Conrad. Both who are wonderful, helpful men. Harvey is a Landscape Gardener, but can do any type of building work, and is a great help to me, carrying out jobs that I find difficult to do. Conrad is in business in San Pedro, Spain selling and developing property. We try to go to see him most years at the end of May for a couple of weeks.

That's enough about me,!!! as you can see we are very open, with our group, and you will get to know all the GIRLS, who I am sure, you will get on with.\

Gill, I hope by now you have found a DENTIST and have an APPOINTMENT. Regarding the SKIP, has it got the Company's name and number on the side ?? if so ring them with your concerns about safety. They will no doubt contact the BUILDER. and tell him to order another SKIP and remove the excess rubbish to a safety level. You don't need to say who you are, just that you are a concerned member of the public.

Jane, on Lcal Radio this morning, they mentioned the WALKWAY in Salcey Forest. It's been closed since last May, but to safety issues. They are waiting for the FORESTRY COMMISSION to come up with funds to do the repairs. Funny that we should only mention it the other day. Thanks for you PM regarding the Building projects thats affecting you. I am sure you and Chris ,will sort yourselves out, when the time comes.

So the "GIRLS" house is almost ready for the move. Have you booked a REMOVING COMPANY yet. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)?? I was watching a programme that you might like to catch up on. Something to do with the seasons in Britain. This one was about the caterpillars that live on OAK LEAVES. At a certain time of the year the caterpillars become poisonous and the Blue Tits GUT THEM before feeding them to their babies. HOW WONDERFUL IS NATURE. <3 <3 <3 <3

Mandy now that your son has landed this caretakers job, he will have quite a lot of time off during school holidays, apart from keeping up with everyday jobs, One of mt Gt Nephews is a School Caretaker who has a house in with the job.

Anne, I was just saying to Ros, that when I speak to the Dr on Friday regarding my prescriptions, I will ask him/her to book an MOT. I haven't had one for years, so it might be a good idea to be checked out. I hope you sorted out about your Blood test.

I am going to attempt to put the glass in the greenhouse this morning, while Ros is out. Then she won't be wittering on, about leaving it for Harvey.!!!!

Have a lovely day, whatever you might be doing. xxx

Morning all,

Another grey day here today. We had that really horrid float in the air rain last night. When I turned the outside light on to look down the garden you could see it blowing across in the breeze.

Not ventured out yet so don't know if its the same this morning.

Gill you must go to a dentist. Because I did'nt go for year I have bone loss in my jaw.

Oh is finishing off the final bits like sanding down the door bars so I can get them in easily and rough edges.

I am just having a COC after doing the chickens water. I have given the big girls and the little girls Poultry Drink today which is a high magnesium bright pink tonic. I call it their pink drink. I do need to give them a worm treatment though which means only giving them the worm drink for two days and no extra water which with this weather and all the rain is a hard job as they will drink the puddles. I may wait till I get themn in the new pen as that has no puddles YET.

Frank

Frank Report 21 Mar 2019 13:07

Still a nothing sort of day here. They had promised sunny spells. But just overcast. I haven't bothered trying to put the glass in the greenhouse as I don't feel up to it.

Simon rang this morning, to tell me the GEAR BOX in his boat has GONE. He has an engineer going to look at today if possible. He wants it sorted for Easter as they have planned on going on it over the Easter break.

We had a note from Lara (julia's daughter) to keep the 6th June open as it's when she is getting Married. It's that time that we are usually in Spain visiting Conrad, so I don't know what will happen. Plus it will mean a drive to CORNWELL, which I think will be too much for Ros. I expect Harvey,Julia and Lewis will be going down to stay before the wedding, if so, we won't be able to get a lift from them.

I'm not sure if I mentioned it, I have had a dispute going on for six moths with my energy supplier. They were insisting I owed over £1,100.00 in used Electricity, and put my D/D from under £100.00 to £269.00 NO WAY. Anyway after all this time they have agreed THEY OWE ME £1,100.00. Which they are paying into my bank. My D/D will now be just over £100.00 per month, taking into consideration the recent price increase in Energy Prices. So that's good news !!!

We haven't seen are sign of rain here Mel, in fact the SUN is now trying to push through. I can feel the warmth through the window of the conservatory.

No sign of Ros returning, I expect the pair of them have stopped off somewhere for lunch.

Tonight I am doing HOCK and PEAS. with Mash. The Hock is soaking in a saucepan of water and will go on to boil for a couple of hours later. The peas are the Quick soak type, so they will have a good soak for a an hour or so in boiling water and the tablet. Then boiled until they are SOGGY PEAS. It won't take me long to peel the Spuds. So a nice easy dinner tonight.

Ros is out at Choir tonight, so a nice quiet evening on my own. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Afternoon all,

Nice to see you joining us Vera ,i'm a bit higher up from you in Norfolk :-)

Bright here but cloudy the sun keeps trying to peep through the cloud .
We had a busy day yesterday getting all the bungalow sorted ready for the man with the van this morning ,so much stuff to sort ,it's all the drawers with bits in that take the time just sorting what to keep and what to dump .
Now this morning off we go to help load the van and the daughter had rung to say the buyer had pulled out ,we loaded the van as it had been hired and was all ready being loaded ,so now all the furniture has gone and there's just loads of well junk really ,her daughter didn't want to pay for a skip so we've loaded up the bins and still got junk left .
There's still all the tools in the garage and boiler house to sort also now the bungalow is empty it doesn't look as nice when the buyers look round .

Gill i do hope you've made it to the dentist today and have found it to be no where near as bad as you thought it would be ,they are very understanding when they know you are really scared .

Oh dear Frank will that be a big expence for a new gear box for the boat ?
That was a nice surprise getting all that money back .

Oh phone for me BBL

Not long got back from the dentist and feel much better, thank you everyone for your support without it I doubt I'd of had the courage to go. I have been given antibiotics and she lanced my gum to release the mess inside it. I've been able to eat some scrambled eggs and a couple of pieces of bread and butter and boy did it taste good after not eating properly for days. I was very nervous and burst into tears, but she was very good and wasn't going to lance it with me being so terrified, she did mention that if it got worse I would have to go to A&E as the infection could of effected my sight in my left eye, this scared me more than having it lanced, so I asked if she could do it and she did. When I got out of the chair my legs went wobbly so she quickly sat me back down again, she said it was probably because I hadn't eaten properly for so long, plus the stress of being there, but I'm glad I went even if I have now got a banging headache and a sore mouth. At least all the pressure has now gone out of the side of my face, she told me to push down on my cheek over the next few hours to get rid of some more puss, not looking forward to that, but if it helps I'll get on with it and if it's to sore I can just stop for a bit. I'm hoping I'll have a good nights sleep tonight as I haven't slept for two nights and I'm shattered. I've taken my first antibiotic and a couple of paracetamol for my headache, I might have a bit of a sleep this afternoon to, so hopefully now I'll start feeling better. Thank you again everyone, you have been so supportive. <3 <3

O Gill I am so pleased you went. If you have a good mouthwash use that a few times during the day as that will clear any muck it is making now. If not a good old fashioned salt water wash will also do the trick. I always keep Corsodyl mouthwash for when I get trouble with my loose tooth in the front.

Perhaps that is why you were getting headaches as you have said you've had a lot lately. Now all you have to do is register with a dentist and GO regular. You've seen how they are nowadays and its never as bad as you think its going to be. Did you remember to take some Paracetamol before you went?
