Oddly enough i'm about to write to someone who's name and adress is given as a submitter of info - if i get a reply i'll let you all know! Sue.

Hi, I did send a request for further info to the submitter to IGI, whose surname was Jones, the name I was searching. I got no response. However since then I found my relative on another site and wrote to the address and was informed by the site manager that the Info had come from the records of a now out-of-business research company that they had purchased,and discovered after further searching that the original submitter to LDS records had been a distant relative of mine, deceased by the time I wrote, a descendant of the branch of the family that had emigrated to Wisconsin. One of the members of that family had moved to Salt Lake City and become a Mormon, and the submitter had obviously been trying to trace his English relatives. Now I don't know whether to try to take this any further, as I don't want to be preached to. But I would suggest you do write. You may find a lot of new relatives. Di.

I haven't tried using Batch Numbers to find more family members yet, but I certainly will now. Thanks for that tip. Also, I just wanted to back up what Margaret in Burton on Trent said earlier - don't take everything you find on LDS site as gospel. Please check it out. I made contact with a lady in USA, who believes totally that we share ancestors. She said that the information had been in her family for years. We both got quite excited, but after checking out a few details, I am 99% certain that we're not related. How easy it is to link into the wrong family. Diana I had to smile about your reference about not wanting to be preached to...form an LDS member. One of my first cousins , 3 times removed .. emigrated to Utah in the 1860's - had 2 concurrent wives ( shown all together on the 1880 census) - had loads of children. So now I have loads of cousins in USA - have spoken to a couple - one from each 'wife' ( so to speak). But neither of them have mentioned much about them being Mormon or of their ancestor being a bigamist !

Hi Nina, Maybe I will investigate further into that branch, could prove interesting! I must look them up in the 1880 census too. One strange thing, when the young mormons used to come door to door proselytising, when I lived in Hove as a kid, Dad always used to enjoy talking to them, and Mum would have a fit and try to get him to shut the door. It was her branch of the family that ended up in Utah, and I'm wondering now if she knew then!!! Di.

Hi , I shall be trying the batch no tip out soon, I have written to a submitter in Australia but never got a reply! That was months ago, still never mind but its still worth a go you might be luckier than me. Happy Searching Meryl
