When opening Outlook Express,it shows my Emails, fine. But when I click on a message,it opens immediately. Is there a way that I can delete a message without it opening ?.

You could use Mailwasher or delete through webmail. Ros

Hiya GB, tried that, but it still opens. Thanks anyway. xx

Hiya Ros, not sure what you mean by `delete through webmail`

Through your ISP. if you want to get rid of spam, mailwasher allows you to bounce them back. Ros

Ros, Not just spam, but `proper` looking Emails. I know I can `block` some senders, but thought it would be advisable to open only those emails that I know are really legit.

To stop the message opening automatically. Click on view on tool bar at the top of the outlook page. Then click on preview pane. Your open message should disappear and you will just be left with the list of messages.

Baz, So you're saying that a message opens with one click instead of a double click? Crista

Crista, That`s what was happening yes,so really I`ve been lucky not to have received a virus, because it would have opened immediately.

It doesn't stop viruses as they are carried in the attachments you open. It does help to stop spam. If you open a speculative email, it reports it back somehow ( beyond me) that it is an active email address, then you get bombarded. Or something like that so my son said!

Hi Linda, In effect, that`s just what I was saying. I now have the option of opening or deleting, whereas I didn`t before.
