Hi Marriage cert says DATE: 23 Nov 1896 Wife: Annie Morgan age 29 Husband: Albert James Owen age 34 OCC: Gun Maker. At time of Marriage Lived at 34 Empire or Engine St Glanford Brigg Lincs Her Father Edwin Morgan OCC: Quarry Man His Father William Owen OCC; Painter They All originate from Shropshire. Both me and my Mother have searched in vain for this family Trying to find Annie with her Father Edwin on census's and find her Birth info...Not knowing who the mother is... My Mum has been in touch with a distant relly who does look ups for her and he has given my mum the 1881 details Shropshire for Ann with father Edwin / Edward b:abt 1837 and Mother Ann & Several Siblings....How do we know if this is OUR Annie..or dont we? We then looked on LDS and found the family on Ancestral File. Giving lots more info for family.. Without knowing or being able to find Annie / Anne / Ann Birth info can we assume this is OUR Annie on LDS After looking myself on Census's and not being able to narrow it down whats the next step? Any help greatly recieved Thanxs Lesley going Loopier :~)

Right, you are trying to find bride before her marriage. Marriage 23 Nov 1896 Annie Morgan age 29 At time of Marriage Lived at 34 Empire or Engine St Glanford Brigg Lincs Father Edwin Morgan OCC: Quarry Man So you need to be able to verify previous census info and stuff you've found on ancestral file? OK. In my experience, personal submissions on ancestral file can be accurate or complete tosh. If it gives any references, you can check them out, but I'd be wary of any information with no indication of where it came from. I will take a deco for Annie in pre-1881 censuses. nell

You could find Annie on 1901 census and get her birthplace from there and then look for her birth cert. I have to go as son needs to do homework but I will see if I can check back later. nell

Hi Lesley the witnesses can sometimes be a very good confirmation. I was able to confirm the link to one family from the witnesses, it turns out the female i didnt know was actually the brides sister who married. Doesnt always work out like that though unfortunately!

Robyne Report 17 Apr 2006 18:53

The only thing ive found so far is Gertrudes maiden name was Allt, and was from Yorkshire. The Edwin Morgan you have found also lived in Yorkshire in 1891. Very loose connection!

Hi Can I ask how on earth did you find the info for Gertrude? Yes Edwin died in Hoyland Common In yorkshire in 1894 according to Ancestral file on LDS..... Mums not sure now if this is the right family as 3 of the kids moved abroad on LDS info and she doesnt remember anybody mentioning that...so she is having doubts AGAIN.. If only we could find Ann's Birth in Doddington..... So Stuck and frustrated with this part of the family..... Lesley :~)

I have done a LOT of research for the Dawley area and the IGI is pretty spot on if you makes sure that you use the Parish Records (Batch Numbers start C or M usually). The coverage for the area is really good. could Doddington be Donnington? There are two places called Donnington near Dawley but it usually refers to donnington Wood which is part of Lilleshall, Shifnal is the reg. district.

Hi Lesley I looked for Gertrude Cranmer on the census, quite an unusual name so there were only 2 and one was too young. Then looked for the marriage cert info for the husband around the time of the first child and there he was with a Gertrude. I cant find Fred anywhere! on 1891, there are still a few of the children at home. How did you find out they had moved abroad?
