Robyne I am not sure if this is our family still... I think that Helen is right about Doddington is Donnington.... So I think the next step is to try and find Ann Morgan b:c1868 Dawley Shropshire???? and send for cert and get Parents names..and if it is Mother Ann beech then we have got the right family on LDS and census's given earlier on this thread..... But that could be expensive as so Many Ann / Anne / Annie Any ideas? Lesley :~)

How about writing to the person who submitted and ask them? Their addresses are available and they obviously have a lot of info about the ones who went to the states?

Hi Lesley I looked for Gertrude Cranmer on the census, quite an unusual name so there were only 2 and one was too young. Then looked for the marriage cert info for the husband around the time of the first child and there he was with a Gertrude. I cant find Fred anywhere! on 1891, there are still a few of the children at home. How did you find out they had moved abroad?

Helen

Helen Report 17 Apr 2006 19:03

I have done a LOT of research for the Dawley area and the IGI is pretty spot on if you makes sure that you use the Parish Records (Batch Numbers start C or M usually). The coverage for the area is really good. could Doddington be Donnington? There are two places called Donnington near Dawley but it usually refers to donnington Wood which is part of Lilleshall, Shifnal is the reg. district.

Hi Can I ask how on earth did you find the info for Gertrude? Yes Edwin died in Hoyland Common In yorkshire in 1894 according to Ancestral file on LDS..... Mums not sure now if this is the right family as 3 of the kids moved abroad on LDS info and she doesnt remember anybody mentioning that...so she is having doubts AGAIN.. If only we could find Ann's Birth in Doddington..... So Stuck and frustrated with this part of the family..... Lesley :~)

The only thing ive found so far is Gertrudes maiden name was Allt, and was from Yorkshire. The Edwin Morgan you have found also lived in Yorkshire in 1891. Very loose connection!

Robyne

Robyne Report 17 Apr 2006 18:39

Hi Lesley the witnesses can sometimes be a very good confirmation. I was able to confirm the link to one family from the witnesses, it turns out the female i didnt know was actually the brides sister who married. Doesnt always work out like that though unfortunately!
