And James on that one is from Northumberland........ Aaaarrrgghhh!

TonyW Report 14 Dec 2006 22:34

I'll have a good look for them on both the census and BMD's - they could also have been at relations..... Trouble is - it makes James' age wrong - not that that would be unusual in itself.......... Sue.... thanks again!!

They could have died.

Ah -- this is where I came unstuck before..... I am sure I've got the right people in 1871 , but if this is also them, where have Margaret Walker 4, Mary Walker 1 and Sarah A Walker 6 gone? I'm feeling that this is the Ann Linslie marriage in 1855, and that would make my James too young.....

Sue, I found the marriage, but couldn't find her on the census to confirm her age or place of birth. That's got to be her, hasn't it! I can't say thank you enough - I've made more progress in the last hour than in the last couple of months. Thanks - I feel invigorated.......

I have feeling that this is the family.....but I don't know why!!! Walker has probably been transcribed as Smith or something....

Thanks again Sue. I'm going to have to spend a lot of time (and patience) looking for James, I think. The trouble is I haven't really got anything concrete to start with. I'm not convinced the details on the 1871 census are right, and there are just so many James Walkers. I really appreciate all of the help.........

I will because I know how frustrated I was and my lot were called Evans so it was no mean feat lol Taught me to keep an open mind as they walked a lot...also don't close your eyes to the Scottish census as some moved to all sorts of places to work. Good luck and make a noise if you find them so i can give you a clap XX PS passenger lists are free on Ancestrey to some at the moment

Tony I have a suggestion.....one of my lot did this just vanished in to thin air......he was a miner and he went to America under a tied passage. Meaning he and the family got free passage but were tied to the coal company for 7 years after which they were free to return if they wished, my lot went back after this to Shropshire, bearing 2 children in USA then on the way home birthed my GGG Granny in Middlesex. All very confusing but I got there eventually, just a wee thought as anything was possible...good luck

Mmmmmm I think I like that......... I'll search for some Fieldings now! Do you think I'm right, that they actually were abducted by aliens, or they were poisoned by the water on their holidays in Benidorm.........
