Just popped in to put the Seax details up for Heather and see you have beaten me to it Chris.

You asked where Heather got Stanway from. Thomas gives it as his birthplace in a later census (1871?). The other place mentioned, Lexden, is in roughly the same area.

They would have been villages in Thomas Nice's day but Stanway and Lexden at least have been subsumed into Colchester now.

so do you think he may have gone by another name of esau? as I keep coming across that 1841 census ?

Not thinking that is him somehow!, there are a few from Suffolk also, not far over the border...

You would need to see Lexden (if related) Parish Registers from Seax, to go further with Esau and family.

so sorry and thanks for your help found the witten marriage the only marriage I cant find is jemimas to easu nice have got everyone else that's the other jemima married to Hawkins is another daughter certainly they are all coming out of the woodwork now .

You could do with a look through Parish Registers, an idea of first Baptism (if any there!) might help...
