I have a Gertrude Cox born 17th April but no year how can I find this birth with out the year can some one please give me advice

Do you have an idea of her age and area she was born in? You can search free on FreeBMD. Is she old enough to be in the census?

She was born I think Shropshire before 1920 as it was information that is in my gran's diary and she died 1920

There were no deaths registered in England or Wales in 1920 of a Gertrude Cox. Could Cox be her maiden name and she died as a married/widowed person under her married name?

I think it was a birth date not a death date well I hope not and yes Cox is her maiden name and it is up to 1920

My grandmother's maiden name was Cooper but her mum's maiden name was Cox she married in 1877 to Thomas Cooper she lived in Hodnet, Shropshire

1911 cencus said she lost 1 child could she have had a child just before marriage but put her on cencus as she was her husband's child

Mind you only knowing Gertrude's birthday and not the year in which she was born or precisely where she was born is going to make it difficult to decide which of the records, if any, is her birth registration.

My gran Clara died 1920 her mum Harriet was a Cox who married a Cooper and this was wrote in her diary

1911 for the same family listed as having 10 children and one had died. As you say the child would have had the surname Cooper not Cox

There is this birth and death in the district that the couple married in, but the birth was pre their marriage in 1877.

It was in the right quarter, but she died pre census and I can't see anything on Family Search so you would need the cert to check if it could be her

I can't see a birth or death for a Gertude Cox in the area the family livied in

What info. is on the pages surrounding the diary entry? Presumably, it's written in chronological order?

The list was all her brothers and sisters dates of births and Gertrude Cox 17th April makes me think did they re register her after they married in febuary 1877 as in Shropshire there is no Gertrude before 1877
