Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I tested it out by opening a new account using my work email address and there was my supposedly private tree open to anyone to search. I've now deactivated the account.
The cheek of companies like Ancestry who assume that we'll just go along with what they want is unbelievable.

Thanks for that information re Mundia, i hope my private tree is not on there, but i shall also deactivate my account, just in case it is.

I agree with what has been said the members should have been told that a private tree will show on mundia, not very good is it.

Hi

Am sure its been around longer than 6 months, am sure its a year or maybe longer ago when it started. (maybe wrong, is possible it was another site linked with Ancestry) I had a tree on Ancestry and after reading about the site I then went on to deleted my tree as i found that even though my tree was private you could see it as if it was public on that site.

Mundia was apparently started up in late 2009 ............ but I only found out about it in march this year.

At that time, I had trouble registering with the site ............ I got into one of those loops that is never ending!

I was reminded of it when I saw the question on ancestry on fb last night.

Like most everyone that I know, my tree has been private on ancestry for quite a few years, certainly predating late 2009.

so I am annoyed that instructions to keep my tree private were seemingly ignored!

I double checked on mundia last night, using another email account that I have, and it does seem to be inaccessible now.

Looks like deactivated your account works and I can't see my tree anymore.

The cheek of ancestry.
