I have a mystery which I would like some help with.
Charles barnes born stowmarket,suffolk c 1845
on 1851 census with father Thomas and mother Elizabeth living in Stowmarket. I cannot find him in 1861 although i can still find his parents and siblings. In march qtr 1868 he is married to Jane kemp in Risbridge. on 1871 census he is living with jane in Rotherhide. On 29th January 1872 he marries Harriet Hill. Cannot trace the death for Jane. Any suggestions. Cannot trace registration for his birth either

Have you looked for Jane on any later census. Could have split up and they would not have been able to afford to divorce

Can we work backwards from what you do know. How are you descended from Charles?

Do you have any of his children's birth certificates etc?

If Thomas was born Buckinghamshire maybe Charles was too

Barry I think you might be correct.
This is my husbands family and I took the information I have from someone else who had done the research!!!
I looked at the census and it seemed to make sense.

I know my Charles Henry Barnes married Harriet Hill and I have found them on the 1881 & 1891 census.

I have just been contacted by another member of the Barnes Family who has the Marriage certificate for Charles and Harriet on this he states his fathers name as Charles. Seems Thomas and Elizabeth have nothing to do with my Charles Henry Barnes. Still cannot find his birth or any trace of him in 1871 or 1861 can anyone help.

Any help with finding Charles henry Barnes Son of charles Barnes would be appreciated.

He married harriet 29/1/1872 in chelsea his father charles is listed as deceased.

I've had a good look for Charles in 1871 and I can't see him.... I've used Henry also as his forename as he seems to always state H or Henry.

The only interesting thing I've turned up is the christening of Thomas;
